  1. Very nice Al! Another one that I've had in my stash for probably 25 years! Someday...... Steve
  2. I'm really glad to see so many of these popping up here! I would love to see a bunch more of these built in every color! I really wish someone would do some more Desoto kits. They sure had some beautiful cars! Steve
  3. Would the "Junior Craftsman" kits of old be considered a snap kit? Steve
  4. Thanks guys! Tonight I hope to do some dash & steering wheel work. Then it's on to carpet, chassis, glass & external details. I really hope to have this one done this weekend sometime. I'd like to move on to the next one. I think it may be an AMT '61 Ford Starliner. Steve
  5. Like everything else, it is what you make of it. For me, airbrushing is very "un-technical" & that's just the way I like it. Steve
  6. I'll pass too. The only front quarter stripes I've ever really liked were these. Steve
  7. Got a little detailing done on the interior bucket tonight. My eyes are going a little buggy from foiling all of those little buckles! Steve
  8. Thank you guys! The resin interior isn't the best example ever, but it's okay. It's probably a 20 year old Modelhaus tub, & back then he evidently hadn't worked out the "pin hole" problem completely. Steve
  9. I have your answer! This is the chrome tree from the Model King re-issue of the AMT '59 Imperial. Steve
  10. I agree with Scott. I rarely have dust issues anymore since I started using lacquer. I don't use a spray booth either & if you saw the thick coating of dust on most surfaces in my shop, you'd probably run for the shop vac! Steve
  11. Been seeing a lot of these lately. Great looking car! Silver & white would look great! Although, I will say, I usually stay away from silver, especially for these old chrome laden cars. With the silver paint, the chrome doesn't "show off" very well. But I did do a '60 Buick in silver with a white roof & red & white interior. It's one of my favorite builds! "Silver Glow" was the color for the '60 Desoto. Hey, you can't argue with this!! Steve
  12. Looks like the generic custom scoops that came with a lot of the kits from the late 50s-early 60s. Can't remember if they were from Johan or AMT. I believe they were Johan. Steve
  13. Just a couple more interior shots. Nothing real ground breaking, but I finally got the upholstery painting done, clear coated the dash & steering wheel, & shot the tub & dash pad with some pearl. Hopefully tomorrow night I can start foiling, detailing & carpeting. Steve
  14. Multiple coats are one of the main reasons that I like to use automotive lacquers on my builds. I typically will use 3-4 primer coats, 3 color coats, & up to 4 coats of clear on a build. 11 coats of paint is going right up to the edge as far as covering detail, but unless the detail is extremely fine to start with, I rarely have issues with it. I have my reasons for all of those #s, but I won't go into them here. The other reason I have for using lacquers is just the sheer enormity of color choices, And when using paints from sources such as MCW, the scale of the metallics is much more in line with 1/25th scale. Steve
  15. I think we all understand Sidney. No one should try to change your mind. Everyone has their own way of operating & that's cool. Whenever a topic is started, you're going to get a myriad of advice & opinions & that's the whole point of a forum like this. Even when 90% of what others say may not appeal to you, there's always that 10% chance of nice little "nugget" popping up that could be very useful. You're right, Whenever you're using lacquers, it opens a whole new page on what's needed to operate. If the acrylics are working for you, why change it. Steve
  16. I use craft acrylics all of the time, but for detailing only. Wouldn't even know where to begin with using them for painting bodies. I'm with Scott. I'll stick with my lacquer. Steve
  17. Thanks Helmut! Someday I'd like to do a "re-do" on the Desoto. I was never really happy with that one. Steve
  18. Nice one Helmut! I guess if we're allowed to do fall of '59, I could add these. Steve
  19. I would think that there could be a possibility of that. If Mobius wanted to play the '55-'56 Chrysler kits to the hilt, We could see a lot of great stuff that could use a lot of the basic parts from those kits. I'm seeing a '55-'56 New Yorker, Desoto & Imperial, all able to utilize a lot of the same parts as the 300s. How about it Mobius? Steve
  20. Well, you must have friends in high places, because as far as I know, it's not available to us "peons" yet. Model Roundup says the next Mobius kit will be the Ford trucks both slated to be out in late June, followed by the Satellite in September. Someone likes you a lot! Steve
  21. I've always loved these light greens, & I have the finished builds to prove it! Build on! Steve
  22. Very Sharp! I love the color! Very unusual for a '70 Chevelle. Nice work! Steve
  23. Okay, you need to explain this one to me. I just got an email from Model Roundup today saying that the '65 Satellite would be out in September. What's the deal Gerry? Steve
  24. Great Elvin! & I'm glad to hear you're going to keep it intact & build it stock. Nothing makes my heart ache more than seeing one of these obsolete kits chopped into some unrecognizable custom. Lots of great colors on the '60 Mopars! Take a look at "Russet Red". I've always liked that color. The wire wheels are a great choice too! I've done several early 60s mopars with Modelhaus wire wheels I've always been a sucker for that look. Both my '60 & '61 New Yorkers utilized the Modelhaus wires. Steve
