Okay..well here it is..I've had this kit stored away in my garage for probably more than 20 years and I guess time, heat, and cold took its toll here because nothing went together smoothly on this one. I had fiment issues off the bat with the front and rear bumpers as you can see in the pics the front end went together horribly no matter what I tried..talk about frustration...the rear not so much the clear parts were all warped..The paint I used wicked colors pearl red which sprayed on quite nicely I've used it before no problems.. but then I used testors one coat wet look clear lacquer."big mistake" I tried using a couple light easy coats then finished with a heavy coat and it orange peeled and had a very rough finish that was the first time and last time I'm using that..I usually use Tamiya clear coat with beautiful results so lesson learned..I guess I got so frustrated and lost patience on this one I just sloppily threw it together...anyway I thought throw a pic of my latest builds to make myself feel a little better..sorry for venting..and I hope there are some redeeming qualities in this one...thanks

Bonnie update..removed very few mold lines, the quality of this kit is pretty good although its a fairly simple kit with not too many parts. I primed and painted the body / hood and some kind of rear interior cover (not sure if I'm go on a use it) using wicked acrylics color pearl red slightly reduced with wicked reducer it air brushed on very nicely..the pics don't do this color justice it just pops with nice pearl and metallic I was very surprised at the color. It should look pretty good being I'm going mild custom wit it.. -

Thanks foxer..it's all good..I know these were tug boats on wheels but that was Detroit steel at its best or worst..as far as thinning the folkart paint I used future floor polish about 50/50 mix and the testors white I didn't thin at all..thanks for the comments guys

I got the interior just about done. I was thinking of putting a white stripe in the center of the front seats and on the back but it started to look kinda funny so I decided against it..and went with matching the body color with chrome accents. I liked the tips on painting the body script..so any ideas on the dashboard speedo lettering??also gotta get seat belts..LHS was all out

It's gonna look awesome can't wait to see the finished product..I did my 70 boss 429 in that style..and currently working on a 65 galaxie 500...

Pim..I was just shown how to properly update on the forums so I will try..sorry for the confusion..I'm kinda new to this forum stuff but it's great

So I got the BMF put on. That went fairly smooth there were a couple of rough spots.. one of the roof railing was molded very thin hopefully not too noticeable. I removed the Galaxie 500 script off the front fenders for a smoother look plus I'm not very good at that small detailing yet. If anyone out there knows a good way of painting lettering script such as on the hood and trunk as pictured please let me know how to do it.. I tried using BMF and that didn't work for me unless there's a special way of doing it. thanks very much

Yes..sorry future..the Aztec white painted great right out of the bottle

Well here are a couple of update pics on the galaxie..I decided I didn't like either of the previous paint choices I picked so I went lighter with the folkart aquamarine thinned with finish..I think it came out okay..

I was unsure of what direction to go with color but I decided on the two tone paint..I knew I wanted the pearl white roof but not sure on the body color I have the pearl green or either blues in the pics (suggestions accepted)..I had to paint the roof twice due to heavy dirt specs..I learned to really wet the spray booth with water and the second coat came out much better although there are two spots the that look like fish eye don't know how that happened. The testors acrylics spray very nice right out of the bottle no mixing..anyway wish me luck....

After much consideration I've decided to put the MPC 67 gto kit aside to save my myself unnecessary grief during these too hot So.Cal days..I bought this 65" galaxie kit which is 100 times cleaner out of the box..I got it not knowing which way to go with it..I think I'll go in the same direction I went with my green 70 boss 429..here's a quick preview
