  2. Cool thanks for the replies..
  3. Well here we go again build #4..and it's a doozy the MPC 67 GTO..I love this body style but I don't think I've ever seen so much flashing on one kit..the body was horrible the windshield pillars literally looked clumpy and you can actually see where the plastic is injected into the mold this kit is really going to test my ability and patience..okay that's enough whining...let's get to work any tips / advise greatly appreciated
  4. Just a quick question to you guys out there..do you keep you're old boxes after the model is built?? Just wondering would they ever be worth anything or are they gonna just take up space..thanks
  5. ok guys so here my 3rd build since getting back into the hobby..I had to take a lot of breaks during this build due to work and other time consuming commitments so this was a big lesson in patience!!.I also have to stop trying to compete with some of you great builders on this site..I'm still learning and trying to get my skills..Anyway about the car..This is my favorite year of the Mustang. I built it the way I would like to have one." a man can only dream" I used folkart metallic green acrylic with tamiya clear coat and a set of pegusus wheels and I did lower the stance a bit othewise it's pretty much box stock..any comments appreciated "be nice lol"
  6. FYI I used the same "finish" floor polish to thin the paint that I used to clear coat paint..had to experiment a bit with the mixture but it worked well..I actually had an accident while painting the body color I bumped the body against a wet brush with black paint on it and didn't notice until I clear coated...bummer...
  7. accidentally posted same thread twice.."sorry" the 1st thread does have pics.
  8. Well here's one I've been working on for about 3 months!! Maby 5 to 10 actual work days..where does the time go..there's not enough. I used folk art metallic acrylic with finish floor polish..I think it came out okay I also added a pegusus tire set..wanted to get a little lower stance but couldn't fit the tires..anyway hope you guys like it so far and thanks for looking

  12. Okay so I'm with the wife at michaels and look what I found in the clearance bin for $9.99...I dont know if it was a mistake or what but I had to grab it...so I'm not sure what color or tires to go with these are the choices I have "SUGGESTIONS WELCOME" it's my 3rd build after many years away fron model building so I'll do my best thanks..also a couple of pics of a spray booth I built for about $25..still need filter but it works
  13. very nice job looks very clean.. I kinda know the feeling I just completed my second build after about 20 years away from the hobby I forgot how much fun it was. It's amazing and how so many things have changed..glad we're back
  14. hello guys just thought I'd show you my latest project. this is the second kit I've build in many many years of being away from the hobby. It's an old monagram 1:24 kit I bought about 15 years ago I painted it testors competition orange with the flat black hood.so many things have changed I actually used the pledge floor polish method as clear coat and it worked pretty good for me any advice from anyone on how to polish it and get it a little smoother would be great. I think it came out okay I know it's a little simple compared to a lot of cars I see here. Hope you guys like it any advice or constructive suggestions appreciated Thanks
  15. Thanks for the comments and advice. .
  16. Okay so here we are I have almost all of the bmf done and getting ready for decals then clear coating which will be a first for me so any advise will be appreciated. Also got steel portion of the rims painted..I know there's much better detailed builds here bet hey I think it OK for being away from the hobby for so long..anyway thanks for looking
  17. Hey guys just wondering when its best to apply clear coat. .I painted my car about 4 days ago was wondering should I bmf and apply decals before or after or after clearing. Also what should be done before clearing..been many many years since I last built anything. The paint was a very old can of testors enamel it sprayed well just a little orange peel otherwise ok
  18. !!! Very nice I love those colors.....
  19. Hello.. Okay so here's my 2nd project I'm working on after about 15-20 years away from the hobby,?I had a mishap already and mistakenly painted the hood body color..fortunately you guys on this forum helped me out with good advise regarding paint removal.Easyoff worked great for me....so thanks. Still trying to get my skills back so I'm going kinda simple with the competition orange and black interior. Well hope it comes out nice...Thanks for reading..
  20. Hey folks.. I'm gonna start a new project. Its an old monogram 70" challenger it's molded in red but I want to paint it either the grabber orange or the bright green factory color. I'm sure the orange will cover the molded red but if i go with the green what would you suggest using to cover the red..or do you think the green will cover the molded red ok..I'll be using tamiya or testors spray cans..Thanks
  21. Excellent work..wish I had the talent you have. By the way my folks had one of these back in the day..

  24. Hello guys. I've been away from model building for about 15 - 20 YEARS..I've been out flying / crashing RC planes..I recently followed my wife into a Michaels store and found a Revell "49" merc model kit in the clearance bin for $6 because it had paint spilled on the box so i thought what the heck... And I bought it.. Well that was it all the old memories from being a kid came back and I got the fever back..I so enjoyed building that kit I'm contemplating selling my RC planes (Nah not really). But I'm. Really looking forward to getting back into this hobby and improving my skills..Thanks for reading
