Sorry, got lost in my head again. This is a cool lookin old school truck. Looks like something that would be pullin a set of bottom dumps down here. -

There ya go, thats usin the ol' thinker. -
The heaviness, the trouble with alignment and from what i heard, not fact, safety were the issues. A lot of shipping container chassis' still use and as far as i know still made with the Dayton or East coast wheels. The 10 lug rim, aluminum and steel give a somewhat uniformity to the industry. As shown in Caseys pic. There are many types of "spoke" rims and ways of mounting. The 10 lug is the same across the board, just different decorative holes, Freightliner triangle, pete oval, and so on.

R.I.P Ford V8
Petetrucker07 replied to mnwildpunk's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, i guess when they can a V6 to have that timeless, harmonic, beautiful V8 roar, then i might change my mind. But until then, i will still stop, look and drool when i hear a Z06, a CTS-V, SRT-8, or any of the newer high performance cars on the road with an aftermarket muffler. I will do the same for the classics, Novas, Chevelles, Camaros, Cudas, Chargers, Challengers, Shelby GT Mustangs, Gran Tarinos, and so on. That odd sound of a 4 cylinder or V6 will not get my attention. I guess im old school. Yeah fuel efficiency is fine and dandy, but i guarantee i can make a carbureted 454 have more power, sound spectacular, for half the price of any 4 cylinder or V6. I think the art of reading spark plugs, changing power valves and annular boosters on a Holley are just about gone. That is a skill im proud to say ive learned, and intend on teaching my kids. But like what has been said, its evolution and that is certain to continue. But i know there are too many of us "Old School" guys that refuse to let the good things in automotive die. The V8 will make a return to Ford, someday. Just like the Camaro that died, then returned. -

This is gonna be a nice little work horse. As for the tanks, definitely not chrome, painted for sure. Color? Silver, green, red. You know what, id go silver or a acid washed aluminum type color on the tanks, steps, bumper, stack and grille. Thats just me though. -

I just received a big box of parts today. They all look great. The rims are very nice, the tires are perfect. Highly recommend Kurts products, worth every penny. Will be ordering more for sure. -

I thought this might be good topic to let some of countries landscape be shown from a trucker. With what i haul and where i gotta go to get it, allows me to see sights that quite possibly nobody else will ever see. I need to dig through my picture discs and files on the computer for more. This was taken this morning in Goodsorings, Nv. A small town about 45 minutes south of Vegas. This sunrise was taken in Baker, Ca, Dec 2013 This sunset was taken in Apex, Nv, half hour north of vegas, Feb 2014

Welcome to dark side of modeling. This is a nice kit to start on. Take your time on doing the rims and tires. They can be a bit testy. Those car hauler trailers are quite pricey. You may want to look at AMT trailers, both van trailers and the flatbed. 1 more suggestion, treat each step of the instructions like a separate model, and it should go real smooth for ya.
