This quote thing doesn't work for me. Yes the first pic shows a correct shock tower.
-
My thoughts go to a razor saw possibly. Is the first pic of the towers what it's supposed to look like?

A few chassis shots.
Turns out the fastback rear quarters look a lot like the convertibles. I'll go get a few photos of the real ones to compare. It may be easier this way.
While playing with the body I noticed that one of the shock towers is not fully defined. How do I carve this out? Rotary tool?

I present you the sorriest looking sparkplug wiring job on this forum. Mind you, it is my first. Maybe I'll get the hang of it.
With all the fumbling about with the wires, the transmission fell off. When I had looked at the picture of the 27th, I felt I should have left more of a flange, so I made one before reattaching the transmission.
Anyone know where the notched stripe decals at the bottom right go on the car?

Great job on the garage and the gifting Pat! I'm sure that was one happy kid!! Nice job on the tires as well. Did you get those from that fella at fireball?
Yes,that is where I got them.

One kit that I've always wanted for a long time is the AMT Richard Petty ford race car transporter kit. Being that I already have several versions of this kit I never wanted to pay the high price that they were going for. Now that Round 2 has reissued the transporter and the Dodge dart stock-car I figured I would go ahead and build it as if I had the kit. But as usual I can't leave things alone and made some changes to the transporter bed. I never liked how the ramps had the recesses for the front wheels so I sanded off all the raise detail cut a single piece of diamond plate plastic to fit in between the walls of the bed and glued it in place. I then cut two new vertical walls to place on the sides of the upper portion of the bed. Then I just assembled the bed as per the instructions. Something else I plan to do is, complete The storage boxes under the body. I haven't decided if I'm going to make the doors open or not.
I just bought one too and I feel the same about those recesses. What are you going to do for tie-downs? D-Rings & chocks? I'll build mine with the N-600.

Had a bit of time tonight. Took the lazy way to separate the C-4 from its bell housing and mounted it to the one on the engine.
Painted the resin BFG tires, the wheel centers, sanded the letters and assembled the wheels.
Also painted an assortment of small chassis parts.

I'm not sure if we're allowed people photos on here but it looks like he'll take it.

I agree with Art. Most of the cars I have seen and driven are over-restored. The one I drive the most was almost all original until we went through the car about 5 years ago. It had that funny bakelite type of steering wheel that was flat black and made my hands smell weird.
I would be more bothered by the wipers than the steering wheel. I like the gold a lot better with the white than when it was looking like it would be all gold. I can't wait to see the end product. Keep on keeping on.
I, as others have mentioned, am amazed how fast you can build models. I am very lucky to get one out per year.
I experienced that with my uncle's Ford 8N tractor that I drove during the haying as a kid. I used to smell the steering wheel. Loved it.

Grandson's garage is done. Hopefully he'll like it. The HemiCuda isn't included.

Now I see where the Mustang comes from.

What is the suggested product or type of product to clearcoat paper?
-
Thanks! Yep, I put my efforts into the parts of the model that you can actually see once it's built! If I was a contest guy I would, of course, detail the heck out of the chassis and everything else... but to reuse an old hobby cliché... "I build for myself." So I don't go all nuts on stuff that will never be seen. I just try to create a model that looks good when you look at it.
Harry, you have just given me my answer as to which bellhousing to cut off on my Mustang build. Thanks. And thanks for the "white background tutorial" too.

Tat is beautiful work. Is there a secret to this white background photography ?

I have several of the goodies for his garage assembled and painted. I realize they aren't toys and that he'll likely lose them before too long but I couldn't bring myself to give him just the building.

Stripped the wheels and repainted them. Stripped the tires and didn't repaint them. We'll see. So far everything I tried to get whitewalls has failed. Maybe I should send them to one of the experts on here.

I've seen some of those big classics where the inside of the fenders match the chassis color.
-
I see it didn't print my comment on the quote again.
Tom, that is likely what I will do.
Joe , if I come down right after Christmas and start on your garage, I should miss part of the winter!!!!

Would it be easier to cut the bell housing off the resin trans instead of the finished engine? You could cut it off with a razor saw, cutting a bit into the housing, then sanding it down towards the trans.

Update on the grandson's garage.

Richard, the Indian motorcycle sign reminded me of this one. Read this thread someday, this guy thinks like you. He can see a bobby pin and think "that would make a nice so and so..." Hope you enjoy it.

Art, was that Whittell the one with an awesome Mahogany cruiser as well?

Thanks Fred,
I'll see if I can pull them off without breaking anything.
