Hi all well I'm calling this done . Will take some better pics in daylight tomorrow.

Hi all Airfix missed a gun port on this so I've been racking my brains trying to think of a way of making one and I think I've got it. first I covered on of them with bathroom sealant to make a mould then I tried to make a resin casting but it was so thin they kept breaking when I tried to get them out, so I thought I need something more flexible so being as how it was so thin I thought just acrylic paint, but that was too flexible and wouldnt come out of the mould so then I thought How can I stiffen it up a bit so I put a thin smear of superglue over it, hey presto it came out, here is the result, I may make another mould and try again as this is a bit chunky probably because of the number of times ive tried using it but at least I know it works.

Hi all well the engine is done (well as much as I can do without putting it in the car) The next bit is the front chassis and suspension (to be honest I keep looking at the instructions and I'm tempted to box it back up and put it away) looks to be way beyond my meagre abilities, I would start somewhere else on the model and come back to this part but that may cause problems later on I've no idea whether I can start the body without causing problems with the chassis, I will see how brave I'm feeling, this may be as far as this kit goes for me, really not feeling confident at all on the next bit.

Hi all well I'm back from my first show (couldn't fit the warspite dio on the table so left it in the car) there was no judging at the show, which I am glad about as I felt embarrassed putting my rubbish on the table, compared to what was there mine looked like it was cobbled together by a monkey. I did buy a couple of goodies but will never take any of my c"+p to a show, and before you say I'm being too hard on myself, no one gave any of my models more than a cursory glance, all my stuff did was just pad the space on the tables out.

Hi all a bit of an update, weathered the engine and tried to emulate the oxidization on the ally manifold.

Hi all more work on this I've not been able to find a definitive colour for the engine (every pic I've seen has been a different shade of green but since I'm using CAT's info for the bodywork I will use that for the engine as well. Thats a 1/24 scale car just to show how big this engine is

Hi all been working on the engine, this kit is awesome, the engine alone has more parts than the whole Shelby kit, just as an example that little nut is a separate part I've put the tin of humbrol paint there as a refrence I had to use my PE pencil to place it, thank god I got Roy's dvd the instruction are so vague (there's a little do hicky lever sticks out the side its only about 3mmx2x2 and from the instructions I had no idea which way up to put it) I've primed it and now I can see a few bits if filling I've missed.

Hi all well got the leds working again (the stern mast PE arial has been snapped off the trouble is I've binned the instructions so don't know which way round it goes, any help out there?)

Hi all well I've made a start on this mammoth build (and thats without putting it in a dio) tbh once I looked at the instructions, without Roy Fitzimmonds aka roymattblack dvd I would have closed the box and put it away again. I've read loads of reviews on this and they've all said the engine is badly warped and had to use some reinforcing or some such to make it square, I recon I've been lucky as mine has been a perfect fit (so far) I've even taken pics inside so you can see I've used no tabs or reinforcments ats all (I just hope this continues for the rest of the kit.

Hi all well the bikes finished now, still some more to do on the dio but deffo on the last leg.

Hi all well I got this back from the library and thought I would take it to the Norex Hobby Show Exhibition on the 25th needs a bit of work though, one of the Ju's is off its plinth the sea looks very dusty the explosions from her guns seem to have drooped a bit and several of the led explosions no longer work.

Hi all, here is the last update for a long time on this one really not happy with this so I think I'm going to box it up and shelve it for a while, before I throw it at the wall, cant put my finger on whats turning me off it, I think its just the fact that nothing on it is really up to a standard I'm happy with, the paint job is not shiney enough the engine is really not one of my better weathering efforts (certainly not up to the bike standards) the door shuts lets face it are laughable and I've found out the doors open inside the wings not as I have them, it just all adds up to a piece of rubbish (yes it can all be rectified (fairly easily)) but the shine has gone off it for me and if I force myself to finish it I can see it taking a flying lesson.

Hi all a little update, well after exhaustive research(20 mins on google pooped for the rest of the day now) the Airfix kit is a little wrong the little sticky up thing on the top of the rails do not exist(thats great as I thought I would have to make some of those as I broke some whists struggling to get the warped hull together, also there should be another gun port on the second tier down sternwards of the last on on the model, roughly where the little slot is on the kit, I may add it when I find out what purpose the slot is for also the ornamentation above the top rail dose not exist neither does the ornamentation between the rails. not tremendous problems so should be able to sort them. These are the little sticky up things which I've now removed.

Ok so I've reguilded the damaged guilding and the actual damage is not as bad as I feared the worst bit being he broke one of the side arms off and I cant find it anywhere os will have to try and scratch one(those canons are tiny, maybe a stretched sprue or a matchstick in the lathe, it's also now missing one of the flags (which I also cant find) nothing I can do about that so will just touch up the paint where it was snapped off . here is the damage.
