Yea but it's kind what I've always built was along the touring/ street machine builds. Mild customs things like that. It's coming together. Slowly. Hard to find time these days.

It is... I try to make every build more detailed and better quality. Thank you!

Thanks. You understand what I was saying. The intent wasn't to offend. And yes I left a few times and it's been a long time since I built anything, but I got a lot of inspiration at the ATL show! And I'm happy to be back building! And thank you to everyone on this thread for posting links to builds I was looking for! -

Very cool! And I build the same way lot of kit bashing but a lot of scratch too... and I hope no one is taking the start of this thread as If I were bashing anyone, wasn't my intentions. I don't think any of you guys did, this seems to be a decent forum of decent level headed ppl. It just seems I don't see as much stuff like back in the day. I know there are people out there building and doing builds that are mind blowing and I want to find them. They are inspiring and make me strive to build better! I love the 3d stuff! And I know how to use CAD it's something I'm I'm looking into. Printers are kind of expensive though lol. -

This is awesome!!! Idk I just didn't feel like I said as much of this type of craftsmanship at the atl show as I used to other the shows. It was a fun show and there were many beautiful builds. Many! And I got a lot of inspiration at the show, to the point that I came home and broke out an old build from 15-20 years ago to redo! I just didn't see stuff like we used to ya know? -

I was looking at your 29 Ford build yesterday. Beautiful! You just don't see this craftsmanship anymore it seems. I find that odd... I would have thought it's gotten waaay better in the past 20 years. More than it has... ya know? And that was the purpose of this whole thread. Lol I just find it all very interesting where things have gone and what's being done and what's winning shows these days. -
Thanks!! I'm leaning toward the HOK candy tangerine as well... buuuut I may spray a test panel of some candy teal... maybe do a candy teal and pearl white this time. Not sure yet.

This is what I'm talking about! Very few ppl work with brass anymore. Seems everyone just 3d prints stuff, though the 3d stuff is nice... where I the skill? Where is the ability to build and fabricate? -

Yes this was very nice! And Clay does amazing work! I voted for this car! This was 1 of the few cars to the detail I'm used to seeing at shows. But it used to be EVERY car in EVERY class was like this or very close to it! It's not anymore it seems. Maybe I just wasn't seeing it. Idk... the 40 Ford delivery that took home a trophy was very nice as well! 1 of my favorite. Cars was the corvet that randy built!! That was amazing and what I used to see back in the day! -

I know a lot of the O.g. builders. Bob k from MCG is a VERY good friend of mine. Timmy k, Bill C. Even Angie when he was around. And I learned a bunch from them back when I was young and building heavy. They are my idols and who I strive to build like because that's who I grew up seeing at shows and in the magazines. And I was lucky to be introduced to them! And learn!!! And I guess that's why I ask what happened to building to that level of detail? -

I have a build I just started tonight that I have started a thread on in the WIP section. It's a 68 dart street machine/ resto mod. Would love for you guys to check it out and give some feed back. It will be a slow build but hopefully steady. I am a single father who has been out of the hobby for about 20 years now. Lol -
Did you get any pics of that blue mobious ventura that was all opened up? That thing had a lot going on! Wish I had gotten some decent pics of it. But the were all garbage.
-
Well.. got the body structurally supported so I can cut it open here soon. I need to get it all blocked and straight before I cut it open. But the wire will help keep the a-pillars from braking and the rockers from warping while I'm blocking it out for now. It will all get sanded cleaned up and hidden before the car is painted.

I just got home from the southeastern nationals NNL in ATL and was blown away by the amount of builders that weren't doing these things ANYMORE. 25 years ago... every car and I mean EVERY car that was winning was cut open hinged properly detailed to the max with photo-etch and hand made parts. It was a great show. Don't get me wrong. All the greats/o.g. builders were there... I just didn't see as much work and detail as I used to 20 years ago. And I wonder why. -

What's up? Now I've been out of the hobby for some time, but it seems all the O.G. builders are well... not building or not here anymore. Did nobody learn from them or what?! I don't seen HALF the detail going into models anymore. Nobody or very few people are making things from scratch. Very very few people are using lathes and mills. Almost nobody using photo-etch... no one is opening doors and trunks anymore making hinges or even USING brass and or aluminum... what happened? -
That is usually caused by something under the paint that doesn't mix... it's eating it... seal it with sealer before painting... not primer..
