  1. I thought of that but the shape of the headlight surrounds are different between the '70 and the '72-'74. I'm thinking of maybe backing up the area with several thickness of styrene, drilling out to set the headlights deeper into the area, and then trying to "cone" out the area either with a drill or by filing. Might not be 100% accurate but almost anything would have to look better than the kit treatment of the area.
  2. Magicmustang, that's pretty cool! Your alteration on the front wheels is so clean I had trouble seeing it until I really looked, but darned it it's not there! Nicely done!
  3. I have one original sheet. I can sun-bleach it and coat it with Superfilm, that's no problem, but it's also a bit dirty. Trying to figure out a way to clean it without ruining it. I'd be happy to scan the sheet if anyone wants to try printing their own from it. (Talking about the '65 Chevelle Time Machine decals here.)
  4. It looks like from the Parts Pack T instructions that it was designed to be a drop-on to the Double Dragster Fiat frame. I have a very vague memory of doing one that way "back in the day." I was wondering how that body was going to work out for you. It looked like the rear wheel cutouts are smaller than those on Walt's Puffer. But it looks like they're bigger on the Winged Express body. I do think the latter looks better for what you're doing. Back in the day (around 1969 or 1970), I built a model of the first Marcellus & Borsch car using the AMT Parts body (scratchbuilt frame and everything else, basically). I started with that body because of the cutouts but of course I had to enlarge them. I could have started with any stupid T body and tubbed it myself. Ah shucks oh well.
  5. I have an irrational love for those first-gen AMT funnies. Am working on the Mustang now, and have a glue bomb '65 Chevelle I'm trying to restore. Does anyone do repro decals for "Time Machine"? Would love to do it just like the box art (just like I did in 1967).
  6. Hi Slusher! Good to see old friends here!
  7. Wow, I really like that! I'll have to see if I have a Duster in the stash. That simple change improves the look of this whole kit at least 200%! Well done!
  8. Fabulous project! I'm really enjoying your work and you're doing a great job with this! I have a somewhat similar project in mind. I want to build a T altered completely out of AMT Parts Pack parts--body, frame, engine, wheels. Body will be the AMT comp T (just ordered one), frame the parts pack rod frame (yeah, I know it's basically a street rod frame, but the sprung rear suspension will be hidden under the body), engine parts pack blown Pontiac, wheels from the parts pack. I don't have original parts pack tires, but I ordered the new ones and will try to use those if possible; if not, I'll use something from a pre-1967 kit. Any other parts I need along the way will be sourced from pre-'67 kits. I'm going for somewhere in the 1964 to '66 timeframe, something similar in appearance to the Jewel T but in metalflake blue (vintage Testor 'flake, of course). I wanna see if I can build it using all mid-'60s parts and materials, using my 2014 skills, airbrush, adhesives, and so forth. Meanwhile, I'll be following yours for inspiration. Model on!
  9. Does anyone make an improved grille for the AMT/MPC '72-'74 Cudas, or at least the headlight buckets? I have a couple of these I'd like to build but I just can't stand the way the headlights look. Or does anyone have a suggested fix for the area? I can't quite figure out how to fix the mess.
  10. I think they've killed everybody off in the TOH shows multiple times.
  11. Maybe you're thinking of Ned Flanders' wife.
  12. Hi, I'm Snake, and I'm powerless over styrene. Found this place from a reference to the discussion on the new Revell '67 Camaro at another board (HyperScale, a mainly model airplane joint, to name names). I've been spotted on another model board or two as well. I see some familiar names, such as Tim Boyd and Ron Hamilton. I hope to be able to add something positive to the discussions here. Thanks for having me.
