  1. Yes Sir, I'd go 4x4 on that, BUT I would NOT "lift" it to much STOCK height, with MAYBE 34's or 36's or so, noth over 38's.... nothing to too big, you know but to look as tho it was "raise just by default"...... That would keep that factory "look", but give it the "Big, Bad DODGE" look without going over board......... Have a look: Thats my "Father & Son Dodge Truck Build.... My truck, is the first one on the 1st and 2nd page.... These were 2 REAL trucks I'm making replicas of! My truck was a Power Wagon Dads was a Adventurer... BOTH were 4x4, but mine I added a bit of lift, (NOT body either, suspension lift, and added 38's on the hubs! IF you page through the build, there are a few pics of my truck model and Dad's truck model nose-to-nose, Dads was "stock" height, 4x4..... -I'm NOT sure what size tires I used on Dad's truck, but they look "right" for an absolute Stock height 4x4..... Mine however wasn't "stock" by any means.... Just thoughts and posted for inspiration, and yes these trucks are almost to easy to make 4x4..... I've done it all of them I've built or building so far!
  2. Well it has sure been a long time since I've worked on this one!!!!! I would LIKE to get this one dine before 2017.... BUT, in order to do that, I have to "work" on it, its not gonna finish itself! LOL There really isn't much left ot do on this one, but me being me, I was stuck on a decal needed for the hoods edge, as well as the trunks edge! And I refused to go on without those decals! NOW however, I got those needed decals! So onto finishing this one we go..... All this model needs to be completed, is the decals (as I mentioned) and clear coated over them and then the BMF added to the windows, and then final assembly! I also have some grille work to do (blackening) so.... BUT that shouldn't be too bad to do! SO, to get moving to the finish line, I got the "black" over the hood, as planned! That looks KILLER! The red is polished right down ready for gloss clear coat!!!! The black was sprayed on "flat" and will be gloss coated with the rest of the hood! I think this is gonna look KILLER when done! The underside.... I have to add the hood insulation, and then I THINK that line in the front of the hood that goes all the way across, is to be a rubber "seal-like" thing that makes contact with the real cars radiator core support..... (I for the life of me, can not remember what thats called!) BUT that needs painted black... as its a rubber-like stripe! I'm not going to worry about the line for cutting a hole in the hood on this one, As I'm gonna be adding some other details in here that are for "fresh-air" duct-work.... Should cover most, if not all of that recess..... A little work but not impossible to do by the years end! (I'll be working on this one New Years Eve if I have too!) Enjoy, more will come as I get things done! Thanks for looking, Comments always welcome ~Enjoy
  3. I didn't even know MPC made a '73 Duster kit? I KNOW the MPC '75 Duster had a race car version with a Hemi in it tho..... BUT, What I had "highlighted" did not mention ANYWHERE in the body of that message they were referring to a model or model company.... if you go back and look, it seemed as tho they were speaking 1:1 terms (and thats how I seen it when I read it).... and even so, in '73 you in real life could NOT buy a '73 ANYTHING with a 426 Hemi it! You could build a '73 and put a Hemi you bought previously when they were for sale into one with a LOT of work to fit/cram/stuff/shoehorn, whatever, as those cars didn't offer the actual needed space to just put a Hemi between its frame rails! LOL IF they did it drag racing even they couldn't get a "Hemi" from Chrysler! They had to get 'em aftermarket, from Keith Black or Donovan, I think back then.... NOT sure who all made the aftermarket Hemi's way back when....-I know those 2 however were around then, and maybe Mickey Thompson might have had something Hemi related but that I'm unsure of!
  4. What I "highlighted" in RED font is NOT true information!!!! NONE of it! The 426 Hemi, A. WASN'T on the "Option" list AFTER 1971. It was discontinued in 1971! B. The A bodies UNLESS RACE CARS Never got a "Street Hemi"....... They just would not FIT in the car with what the car was required to have by law.... -And C., WHY would Chrysler even offer a "426 Hemi", in a "340" car???? The "340" destination, was to say that it was a sport or a Rallye car, with the "performance" engine of THAT year.... -You couldn't even get over the parts counter "MOPAR" replacement parts for the 426 Hemi after '72!!!! So having it as an option in '73 is false information on that engine and that car! (I'd more believe a 440 was an option BEFORE I would the Hemi, know why? The 440 lasted on till '78! -With available parts well into the early '80's.... OK as for the '71 Demon, I WISHED they would re-issue this kit! I never got one of the old ones, but would LOVE to get my hands on a couple now!!!!! -I've got one of the Resin conversions for the AMT Duster 340 kit..... Not sure on that one, BUT they at Round 2 would be SMART, to re-issue BOTH the '71 Dodge Demon, AND the '71 Plymouth Duster as a Mopar effort "A" body release! Sadly, there aren't enough "choices" for us Mopar guys, with Chrysler "A" body cars!
  5. Paul, Thats an interesting article, but I'm not sure what to believe on that one! Restorations are VERY difficult as if you look through the whole article where the engine is on the Dyno, it has regular "tube" headers, and when you look further down the page, where they're getting ready to install the engine from underneath, it shows "headers", BUT I can't make out a "second flange mid-way of the piping for the exhaust. SO, I'm not sure on that one, VERY contradicting information just by the pics alone! PLUS in the beginning of the article, they mention that the exhaust was custom fitted.... Makes me wonder if that car HAS "NASCAR Petty headers, where'd they get "good ones" from! Those are NOT the easiest part to come by! As they were last made in '66! (ALTHO I'm sure driver's teams had 'em stock piled for years Richard himself is said to STILL have some of those stock piled!) Makes for things VERY difficult when doing a full report and all if ya simply don't know, who's to say whats to believe! I just know those special Hemi Headers deemed "NASCAR Hemi Headers" were handled and all by Petty Enterprise back in the day, you couldn't even get these from a Dealership nevermind directly from Mopar unless you were a NASCAR team! Thats within the record books, BUT that too, there have been A LOT of things over the years that Ma Mopar did, un-documented so..... As well as simply "interesting" mistakes, I once seen a '72 Plymouth Duster on one side of the car, and had a Dodge Demon emblem on the other STOCK!!!! -As far as I know the woman that bought the car new, off the show room floor, STILL has it too!
  6. Yeah somethings not right..... I'm gonna attempt to try again tho as I have gotten a LOT since what you see in my last posting!
  7. NICE exterior paint and looks good on "higher" tires, anything underside done to make it "raised"????? Engine tho looks basic kit to the model and was lacking but the pro-cleaner air filter helps, that firewall needs more tho.... Not your fault however thats Revells issue! The BMF looks GREAT too! What sort of clear did you use on the paint or is that just a good high gloss paint with no clear on it?
  8. Nice work Andre! I just got one of these SAME box art too. and I plan to make mine like one a close family friend had when I was growing up.....
  9. Have you done a 318 Poly then? I'd like to see that! BUT the 318 Poly intake would be a bit different then a RB 413 or 426 Wedge dual plane intake!
  10. Dave, yeah I made progress (and had a slight set-back) but I'm unable to post any updates!!!! I've had updates since 12-06-2016! And haven't been able to post anything.... NOT sure whats going on, I even deleted the whole "thread" and opened a new one! Same thing happens, I've contacted admin over it.......
  11. Bill, Yeah that was the early Jo-Hans stuff tho.. very "basic" compared to what we have for details now, I doubt you'll find ANYTHING remotely close to what that engine needs without doing a bunch of scratch building.... BUT those ARE the intake you'd need, just much better detailing! (the air cleaners however for THAT intake are right, as the rear one has a center indent for the front one to fit, just as the real thing was! SO, if you'd scratch build that intake, make it fit THOSE air cleaners! Otherwise, the air cleaners won't be right either! EDIT: I bet if you took 2 of the Revell 440 4 barrel intakes, you could kitbash this single intake from 2 of those!!!! Had to edit my posting as it just popped into my head what would do the trick!
  12. NICELY Executed man! GREAT job!
  13. I'm scratch building a 10 foot Utility trailer right now! Go have a look under the light trucks WIP area.....
  14. NICE work Chuck! I have 2 of these trucks and have the box for both of them and for the life of me, I could NEVER figure out what year that Ram D-50 was, so being made by MPC, they're '82's? I have the 4x4 version and the 2x4 version now.... BUT that is, of course they kept the year the same on all of them MPC made! -I know AMT did a version too.... Nice "Plymouth" tailgate man! The Arrow Truck.....
  15. force is right the intake on the AMT '57 Chrysler 300C is in fact a 392 Hemi.... NOT a 413! So it wouldn't look right to use it, BUT also he's right about the Jo-Hans kits, but good luck finding those parts! I myself would love to get my hands on a Jo-Hans Sonoramic Commando to use else where (65 Chrysler 300 came with an engine with that intake!) Force, that intake you need for Christine, can be found in the following kits: Jo-Hans '62 Chrysler 300 Hard top Jo-Hans '63 Chrysler 300
  16. -Yeah I haven't seen Ira in awhile come to think about it... -I was going like a mad man on my Doomz Day monster truck when I remembered his last build!
  17. Yeah, on the Manifolds being used, they often were replaced due to rusting and cracking as you had mentioned, BUT they were NOT "factory" replacement parts! Most times they were in fact replaced with tube headers as after '64 you could no longer get parts for those engines! True and sad fact that when the 426 Hemi came about production of ALL the Max-Wedge engines ceased.... And at a guess, it did not take long for the parts for the Max-Wedge engines to sell out quickly. and you mentioned about them race only, yes! Those engines were NEVER put in a "street car". as they didn't have too! The only Street cars that were "Race Ready" were those found on the NASCAR tracks racing.... what won Sunday, sold Monday! The racing they did with the Max-Wedge engines didn't require the same car top be sold to the general public for street use! Where NASCAR did require that for Chrysler to race the Hermi on their tracks! And yes weight was an issue, those cast iron Ram-Horn headers were heavy.. I'd carried a couple sets of them over the years, and there isn't ANYTHING "light" about 'em!
  18. Thanks Al! Much appreciated! I had to go back and look at the work I did in the pics, as its been awhile since I've taken this out to work on it so I had to go back and see the frame to refresh my memory to what I had done! And if it was all "white" plastic, yeah I guess it sort of does look as tho it was made that way!
  19. LOL Thanks Joe!!!! Yeah that thing sure would drink fuel wouldn't it? (I think I put the biggest fuel tank on it that would fit. remember the truck is an A100 after-all a very short wheel base thing.. this one has a REAL attitude tho! -Told ya the engine was a wild one!!!! LOL
  20. Thanks you guys!!!! I'm always at it, or adding some other wild detail.... So, I try to one up myself and at times, its seemingly to get more & more difficult each time! LOL Much appreciated Gentlemen! Thank You!
  21. Late reply...... Thanks Jim, MUCH appreciated!!!!
  22. Yeah, you'd be right, a typo by me, it is a '64!!!! (I even have the model of this car.... and sadly I didn't notice I typed in '66!!!!!
  23. Would depend, on the race team that ran them and where THEY got their parts from! IF they were getting parts from Chrysler, they actually did NOT come with headers or manifolds, as the cars were the on-set of race car "kits"..... You bought a plain-jane car, took out what you could to make the car lighter and went from there to build that car, SO with that, the NASCAR headers would NOT have been used, so a lot of those guys went with basic steel pipe headers, as the NASCAR Petty Headers were only on the NASCAR engines UNLESS someone in that race team KNEW Richard Petty to get the NASCAR designed headers from him, you simply could not get them on ANY other car! You however would be right that it was not Cast Iron manifolds, those were Street only...... Unless you wanted too use them for a race car was totally up to the builder.... -and what they could get back then, over the counter at a dealership, ALSO depends on the class they planned to race, if there was any rules the exhaust had to follow... Heres a pic: OF the exact 1965 Dodge Coronet for RO and WO racing, and the engine isn't a regular A990 race Hemi its a A864, and if you look closely, it looks to have "standard" headers on it.... NO cast iron parts in view!!!! And if you know your Mopar, has the "proper" air cleaner for such a race Hemi! The A990's either had one like it, OR was single 4 barrel intake setting on a "Bathtub" NASCAR intake that was designed by Maurice Petty (Richards Brother) Seen here: Maurice Petty designed the Bathtub intake, to KEEP the "Cross-Ram effect", with a single carburetor as per the NASCAR rules, (One carburetor only) but if you look closely to the intake's "top" its bolted onto the original part! This pic has Maurice, right beside the engine! NOTICE the engine has NO "headers" on it? Wonder why? Its either '68 or later.... As in '67 they were still using those "Petty Headers", and when they removed the block from the car, they separated the 2nd flange and that left the front half of the Petty Headers on the engine! -This pic however has a 426 Hemi that had the last known "pipe Headers" on it, as evident in the pic the front portion of the header where it bolts to the engine isn't there! Then you have one of the 426 Hemi's going in what looks to be a '66 Plymouth Belvedere, (Correction, a 1964 Plymouth Belvedere) notice the header: Then you have: Notice the engine? It came out of the Superbird in the picture! 1970. check out the headers on THAT 426 Hemi! MOST if not ALL that I have said, I can back it up with proof from several trustworthy sources........... Without a doubt! maxwedge.com www.allpar.com Just for starters.....
  24. And to state this is WRONG! These were NASCAR only headers! They were used in '64, (NOT '65 Chrysler did NOT run in NASCAR in '65) and then were used in NASCAR in '66, AFTER '66, they used standard type headers fitting the 426 Hemi. The 426 "Street" Hemi used cast-iron manifolds..... Here you can see the 426 Hemi "Street" manifolds: http://www.moparmall.com/Exhaust-Manifold-Set-w-Hardware-Gaskets-for-1966-p/848-072_925-012_706-029_a.htm On the engine: https://www.hemmings.com/magazine/mus/2005/01/Living-in-the-Limelight---1970-Plymouth-Road-Runner/1281067.html#PhotoSwipe1481478364564 These NASCAR headers were nic named "Petty Headers", as Petty Enterprise was thee ONLY way to get them, in the '64 to '66 years! From reading the history and knowing a little of the King Himself, if you KNEW him way back when and had a STREET car, he'd sell you a set, BUT you had to know him to get them! Chrysler themself, gave Richard Petty the dealership use on release of the 426 Hemi "NASCAR" engines, and I BET vital parts of my Anatomy, right now, he's got more then half a dozen of those engines and all the parts needed to build each one to this very day! Heres a set for SALE on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-Dodge-330-Plymouth-Savoy-426-Race-Hemi-Exhaust-Headers-3-Piece-Set-WOW-/291827185622?hash=item43f24177d6:g:BJkAAOSwstxU1r-r&vxp=mtr $4,899.00 for 3/4th a SET of them! Granted, if you didn't GET the headers to fit your Hemi from Richard, they were NOT like those seen in the Jo-Hans kits.... They were what we now know as Hemi Headers from say "Doug's Headers" or "Hedman Headers", or even TTi....just a steel flange with pipe shaped and welded to it to fit the car, you plan to use them on!
