As Requested: My Resin Graveyard - yikes!
426-Hemi replied to George Bojaciuk's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Nick, By the time I came back to the Hobby, I actually "learned of" Modelhaus, about 2 months before they were announcing they were to close a year from that posting, then they closed early as that year today isn't up yet (I think they said June of 2017), SO that being said, I was a day late and a dollar short.... -
I got to ask, what Moebius kit does come with THOSE headers????? EDIT: The headers lining up might have been because you have an Automatic 727 Torqueflite Transmission on the engine, normally those headers fit perfectly around a Standard 3 or 4 speed transmission! The lower pipes closest to the trans, they touch the trans at all? The Jo-Hans ones I have won't fit around a Automatic either! (I don't have the Moebius ones, yet)

I've got the Hemi Hydro kit (boat only) and was lookin at it the other day thinkin the frame was WAY to wide... SO, I'll probably use parts of that trailer,m to scratch my own with parts from it to make a boat trailer to haul the actual speed boat and look half-ways "right"... -

Yeah, I wasn't clear enough When I mentioned turning up the heat, I meant to use a different Heat source! I know most glue guns don't come with temp controls! At least not El Cheapo's anyway I had one of the more refined (AND expensive glue guns about $180 worth) till it got stolen a long time ago... I know the Felon that did it too! LOL But to use some sort of flame, or other heat source that get hotter then the common glue gun may be a trick to attempt! HMMMM I want to mold a set of '70 Dodge Charger side scoops that have the "R/T" emblem as part of the model for another use, BUT, I don't want to ruin the car body to do so.... I don't think the body is painted, (maybe) But the paint isn't an issue as its a glue-bomb rebuilder, in half ways decent shape (or at least the body it, the frame and interior are a whole OTHER story, but I think a common '69 frame and interior from MPC would replace it quite easily, but I want to use those side scoops on another build if I can, I'm just not sure on type of silicone to use that won't stick to the plastic and run both the body of the car, and those side scoops! BUT, that too I also want them molded to use on another build and maybe make a mold to pass along to others in trades.... -
A bit off the beaten path (NICE trip away however) NICE work! Ya brought that Steam Roller right to life ya did! NICE job! I have to agree with Mark "Disabled Modeler" I too would LOVE to see more construction equipment in 1/25th scale a CAT 336 would be AWESOME! And maybe a CAT D-8 Triangle Track model? Maybe even some paver machines too!? OK I'll shut up now! LOL

Snake, That Permatex black silicone will it stick to say a car body or anything? I wouldn't mind trying that for some car body parts that are there that I really do NOT wanna destroy the car just to mold parts off of it! -
No kiddin, that camper looks AWFUL close to 1/24th-1/25th scales!!!! Whats the inside of it like? (I know some toys come "semi-detailed" so I have to wonder!) I ask as I like to detail up an interior to a camper for the back of a pick-up some day!

I'ma Resin molder, and as well have done plastic injection modeling spin casting with metals, and so far, I like the resin useage BUT you have to store it properly and then as said air bubbles seem to be the worst part of it.... Waste, YES, MY GOD YES, if you mix more then you have out in molds you have to pour fast (that is what creates a lot of the air bubbles is pouring fast, BUT to not "waste" it is another whole issue! I however being a resin molder, am open to other things for the same use! Allen, I LOVE some of the ideas, what about the hot glue? it comes out like a gel from a glue gun, but what about turning up the heat on it to literally liquefy it? Not as much as water, BUT if we as molders could find SOMETHING that is liquid like water, would very well fill our molds MUCH better.... AND show a LOT more detail too! I'm gonna toy with that liquid epoxy coating you put onto restaurant table tops and even bars. it covers like 60 coats of polyurethane does, BUT is epoxy..... takes 24 hours to dry, and it mixes 1:1 by weight, and if dome right, it dried CLEAR.... I've used it for making "water" for some of my Wife's Diorama's in the past to be "water".... for her Whimsical creations....and years later that same thing looks clear as water, dried smooth, and can be "sculpted", if you catch it at the right time, but when mixed, this stuff is like real "water" it finds its own level..... can be painted, and glued too. So theres an idea! Takes a bit for it to fully cure tho, after 24 hours it can and will still "fingerprint"!!! Some of whats been said here, I myself am gonna look further into. ALL sounds like some REALLY good ideas! -

Yep as said thats a GREAT looking combo! The trailer looks as tho its a bit wide too, is it? ALMOST has the resemblance of a car carrier trailer! -
These were model kits???? OR "Die-Cast" toys?

Thanks Darren! I appreciate it, and yeah I still am sorta fighting the loss of Dad, its been difficult as this truly was his favorite time of year and the man simply LOVED Christmas, and I have some of that in me too, thats why I went on to do the build you see here, and to go along with it, he ALSO has that crazy sense of humor you know of too, specially the Christmas "decor" in the sleigh.... -And honestly, I don't mind it either LOL

This build, let me tell you............. I had to hurt myself to get it this far LOL BEEN GREAT tho, don't get me wrong! As you all know I love to take my time building, which makes me a slow builder by far..... I have been having a BLAST absolutely no-doubt about it, DOWNRIGHT fun, like you don't know! The design stages of things has to be what I LOVE the most.... its that brain food I guess......Just to see how and where I can "STUFF" of Shoe-Horn things in that would actually be needed for such a build! Something I haven't said, and will now, this build, has been helping me, with a pretty serious issue, that I just haven't spoke of....As you all know, I lost my Dad in March of this year. With that said, he LOVED Christmas, so much that on November 1st, he'd begin decorating the house and would continue decorating the house from November 1st all the way till December 23rd, YES that many lights, statues, figures, you name it, he had it.............. He had an ENTIRE village that goes in the yard to support Disney at Christmas! One entire corner of the yard was dedicated for these, he had I dunno 20 of these "villages" that he'd set up in the yard every year....Over a million lights, and thats not all, inside the house too, was like a damned Christmas decoration shop.....Gaudy, you bet, but. he loved it, and in someways, over the years I have it too, a much "lighter" version of it, and kinda been "stomping" it out and almost blew out that little flame.....WELL Dad & I had a serious falling out over 20 years ago....NEVER spoke a word to each other in that time either until 4 years ago, after Thanksgiving, and before Christmas, my wife was filling out Christmas cards, and each year, we would add a picture of our daughter Lily in the card and mail them to specific family members to get pictures, and there that year was one left, NEVER a year before did a mis-count happen on the number of pictures AND Christmas cards! We always had the exact amount, WELL this year, (4 years ago) I told my wife I wanted that last picture, and that last card, I filled out a note on the left of the card, giving my home phone number, with the picture of my daughter My Dad's ONLY grandchild, and mailed it off......... 3 days pass and the phone rings, and he was in tears on the other end...........Its not fair that he's gone, BUT, I'm glad I made that choice, it made him a happy man, to see his one and only grandchild, and the years from that time opened me up to a way to see, that I am a lot more like my Dad then I EVER gave credit too, this also goes for the Christmas attachment he had as well as I got, just I have a bit of a twisted sense. Those who know.......know just what I'm talking about here.... This whole build, my Dad has watched over it, its something I can't explain, but its he's there, I said to my wife the other day in the shop, I wished Dad was alive to see this, and things, just...I know a lot of you out there knows the feeling you feel when you just "know"....I just know, My Dad as a spirit is uplifting that in me and I at times am not even aware of it....BUT I do give him the credit for this build, if it wasn't for him, I don't think the Christmas Spirit would reside in me right now as it does and hasn't been in the past....With it tho, I myself can see a difference in me, with the whole "Christmas Spirit" feeling and deal. Its way more....pronounced now I suppose would be the best way to describe it. So with all that "said" I guess the best way to end/finish that paragraph is, Dad, this ones for you! As far as the details, just toss in a little of the ole "Christmas Spirit" and see where it takes ya.....I've been a model railroader and NORMALLY, I'd be thinking up decoration to incorporate with the trains....Snowy scenes and stuff, kinda like the movie Polar Express really, so.....but why any different approach? The only difference is in the imagination really.....Just transfer it and the scale (size) of what your doing, or planning, like this sleigh, its planned as I went, NOTHING on paper, "Instructions" are really someone elses views on how it ought to be done, ONLY in THEIR own mind!!!!!! Altho NEVER quite as intense as this is, I mean really this model has a lot in to it, design, build, materials, you name it, BUT the enthusiasm I've put forth, just a bit above and beyond what I would have been doing for say a "Christmas Display" of running trains through a village that I made "look" like winter etc, and in some cases with the trains, it would have begun being assembled months ago! So a lot of that is in fact in this build, BUT shoe-horned into a much smaller space! Thanks tho everyone, thats what keeps it interesting, your views on what I've done or not done. One of the many reasons this forum, club is as much fun as it truly is!

So anyway, "its later today".... and I'm trying to kill a little time this morning as on Thursday morning. I let the wife sleep in and i take the daughter to school, SO, with that said....I went and grabbed the camera card from the shop and got the pics edited for posting and uploaded to add the links for all to see! SO, with that said, here we go! Seen here is the fuel line going from the front mounted tank (like the inspiration picture shows....) I ran the fuel line! This was a FUN detail.....Good GAWD....As I musta wasted 3 hours digging through different wire types till I foundsomething, suitable? I guess would be the right word for this......... SO, finding that made it possible! BUT, what about a fuel filter? Yep, had to add one. just isn't right without it, so then back to digging, just didn't take nearly as long to locate a double, thats forsure! I got it somewhat painted from my parts organizers from a used part, this one was in WAY bettershape then the other one I had, and sadly the other one was also a "single" filter not a double! Off to run the piping from the center of the filter bank to the rear of the front engines injectors. and then out the back ofthe secondfilter to the rear of the rear engine injectors.... looks pretty good! Showing the nicely done front mounted fuel tank..... Then the MAJOR stuff! I went and gone crazy a bit with some interior details..... WELL NOW........ you see a Candy Cane gear shift, and boot, all custom made and painted by me, as well as the lower "dash" area has some "trim" on it now.... I also added a windshield, with gold trim, as well as a rear view mirror for Santa use to watch for following UFO's while the ole magic makes him fly as long as we all "BELIEVE" he'll remain flying but. if that drops, then he'll have to use the shifter and track to get him through.....:D NOW I'm gonna say, this is THEE LAST "photo" update you will see of this build, the END is near! A few surprises will come when the end is shown! ENJOY!
