Beeeeeaauuutiful bird!!! Need reference pics? I have the Aero Detail #21 book on this puppy.
I think the Aero Detail book deals primarily with the G, but I have tons of reference, including the Schiffer Wespengeschwader book, and the outstanding Vasco/Classic Publications book, to name but a few. (I have a "thing" for books, so I'm well covered in that department, but thanks for the offer anyway.)

Spent about an hour and a half last night assembling the already started engine. Unfortunately, I had glued one of the heads on crooked all those years ago, so I'll just have to live with it, as it's absolutely welded into position. I'll strip off all the chrome, then paint as needed. (This'll probably be a "hood closed" sort of display piece anyway, so I'm not going to fuss over the engine too much.)

My first big rig attempt in a very long time, resuming work on a kit that I started 40 years ago.
-
Great start n this. Any idea how this kit stacks up against the ancient AMT kit?
-
I started to convert mine to an early gunship, but never got very far with it.

That thing should be monster in size!!! Good luck on the entry here and let us know how it turns out.
Roughly a 20" wing span. The winter white and Wespen markings should really be cool. Here's a pic of the real deal. (Photo snatched from the WWW, I don't recall where.)

Nothing there interests me, not that I could afford it if it did anyway.

Looks great, congratulations. I recall the first time one of my kits made it into Fine Scale Modeler, I was thrilled to death too, it's a truly great feeling. I like the pinstriping on your oil pan too.

They look nice Kevin!...and I am not even a military kind of kit guy. Nothing wrong with getting to relive some of the childhood days or memories of...there priceless.
I seem to spend a fair amount of time longing for those days. I know it's pointless really, but my youth was a time of magic for me, and I'm so happy to have had that sort of happy existence.

Say Kevin...............that's a pretty cool mild mottle pattern you got there on that 190. Did I mention that I was a HUGE Fw190 fan?
Thanks. That's what the illustrations showed, soft mottle on the tail, and very little on the fuselage, so that's what I did as well. Who knows if the original illustration was accurate or not though,. but for a ceiling queen, it doesn't really matter to me, as long as I feel I captured the "essence".
Really cool. Love WWII warbirds.
Me too, been building them for eons. I'm currently also working on a 1:32 Dragon kit of the Bf 110C, in Wespengeschwader markings from the Russian front. Assuming it's finished in time (and it should be), it's destined for the IPMS nationals in Columbus this year.

So you literally buy the kit only for the box? Just want to be clear... and if that is indeed the case, please explain why you would pay the money for a model kit just to get the box. Not trying to be a wise guy. Just trying to understand your thinking.
Sometimes you have to buy the kit to get the box. I did this with several old 1:32 Revell aircraft kits. Sold the kits as bagged items, but kept the boxes, as that's what I was after to begin with.

So far, it does indeed seem like an excellent place to hang and talk model "stuff".
-
These are but three of many (approximately twenty) 1:48 scale fighters I'm slamming together to hang from the ceiling. Nothing fancy, no detailing, no AM, just decent paint and interesting (to me) markings from different WWII theaters. I like the idea of a bunch of WWII fighters hanging up, doing battle; a throwback from my childhood no doubt.
-
I suspect I'll just offer it up for trade. I really don't have the display space for rigs and trailers. Displaying one or two big rigs is going to be enough of a problem as it is.
-
The Huey looks good. 1:48 Monogram kit?
-
Looks great, especially for the old Monogram kit. Nice job.

This too was in my attic, though not 100% complete. Clearly missing is the tank body itself, but everything else seems to be there. Darn shame too, though good for parts, (or perhaps trading material).
-
The guts of the kit above. Complete, but some minor work has already been done. What a kick it'll be to resume work on this after some 40 odd years.
-
I've never even been in a big rig, let alone driven one. I just think they're cool.
-
This is very pretty. I like it a lot.
-
Yep, all the boxes were in great condition. I'll probably begin the Peterbilt this summer. I also found a mint Aurora Guillotine box, that I subsequently sold for $75. But the biggest find for me, was this AMT kit (image from the WWW), full of instruction sheets from dozens and dozens of kits I'd built as a kid.

Went to Hobby Lobby and Micheals today and picked these up for 40% and 50% off:
That B-17 has certainly stood the test of time. I have one or two around here too.
-
Certainly not recent, not really anyway, I found these in my attic a few months back; kits from my youth. The Schwinn and Pirates kits have been sold on, but I still have the 359, in fact just saw it in storage today.

This looks just great. Nice paint.

I use a vitamin E formula lotion that seems to work pretty well, (when I remember to use it).
