And there's nothing wrong with that in the least, as long as the ride was enjoyable! Me....I'm planning on another 10 a year for the next 10 years at least, until something gives out! Steve
You've figured out how to live beyond 100? We need to talk.

Nice kit, Wayne. The Dragon smart kits are great, too bad the instructions are so lousy, at least on all the smart kits that I have.

I'm auditioning as a singing drummer for another band on Friday.
I entertained fantasies about becoming a big time rock 'n roll drummer when I was much younger, but those days are very far behind me now. Good luck with your hunt.

Obviously the auction has ended by now, but I'd echo the thoughts of the others; stay within your comfort range. I'm looking at a couple of the large scale front engine dragsters right now (my favorites), and I will not pay beyond a certain fixed amount, regardless.

I think it's gorgeous. I also think the odds of my ever owning one, are about the same as getting hit by a comet.
-
Again (especially when I was just a tyke), the box art could make the kit overwhelmingly appealing to me.

Like many others here, mine get dumped, unless the artwork is pretty cool, in which case I cut it out to hang,... someday.

You familiar with the Mendoza Line?
I wasn't before, but I am now. That's pathetic, and probably on par with my own finishing averages.

I use this
I just bought something similar (Amazon), and in natural sunlight, it works great. The small lights might come in handy, but floods are still required indoors, or at least this has been my experience.

Yep, wax based metalizer, very similar (so I've read) to Rub 'n Buff.

I'm dealing with the same problem right now, trying to remove the molded on Revell trademark nonsense on the bottom of a chassis. It's molded right between the gas tank and frame, so I'm getting at it with my Excel belt sanding stick, and a very small hobby chisel I picked up somewhere.

Just added my vote. I seriously doubt that anything I'll ever try is original, and I don't concern myself too much over that fact. I'll probably only do a dozen or less more cars in my lifetime, and most, if not all, will be fairly straightforward.

Kevin how long is the life expectancy on a bottle with 600 PSI set at about 15 PSI ? I would think Nitrogen would be a better way to go, If you have a good regulator. Although regulator diaphrams can go bad just sitting from non use. However storing the regulator indoors, when not using, and just using it when painting might help.
Quite a long time, but of course that depends on frequency and duration of use. I tend to spray a lot (one of my favorite hobby chores), and my refills generally last a year to a year and a half. I've read that 800 psi is about maxed out, but I don't recall ever seeing mine that high.

Here's another of my efforts, the 1:72 Roden example of the iconic Fokker D.VII

I'll try to upload some photos for you. I've crawled all over 4006. I'll undoubtedly be grabbing more photos in the spring, so I can finally finish my own. Here's a shot of my base, sort of a marshalling yard.

I'd love to build a big Funny one of these days, but there's no way I'll go all nuts the way you are. You must have the patience of an Oyster.

Yes, by all means keep most of the salient details to yourself, lest someone "borrow" them. I've already had one modeling product lifted from me by asking for input on forums, so I discuss these ideas no more in public. The advice from the others seems sound.
If there's a point when people with good ideas falter, it's when it comes time to get out the wallet.

I build for the bonding experience
Me too. I bond my fingers together every once in a while.

A book of all of Edgar Allen Poe's stories and poems. A little light reading before bed.
Wonderful stuff. I still have a favorite old paperback of short stories; Joyce, Thoreau, Poe, Burrows, London etc., and it's some great writing.

Very pretty! I wouldn't want to have to shlep all that though- I play a 4-piece set of '71 Ludwigs with 2 cymbals and a high-hat.
I never took them out of the house. I'm a "play for me" kind of guy. I had more than a few offers to jam with some other guys, but never bothered.

Referring to automotive modeling specifically, for me it's a couple of reasons; nostalgia being one, creating a nice looking kit of a vehicle I'll never be able to afford is another.
-
With me it's a mixed bag. While box art (renderings), can be very attractive, I'd also like to see the contents in the form of a build up of the kit in question.

Kevin when you get to building that Corsair keep us posted. I want to build that one myself.

I will, but it may be quite a while before I get to it.

Thank you. I like it too.
It's the crummy (Techmod) kit decals.
