Revell Kenworth W900 - Lightning Express
pcm1977 replied to pcm1977's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
My eventual plan is to get a 53' trailer and paint it the same blue and put the lighting on it in a similar way as the truck. Thank you all for the positive feedback. -

This was my second build ever, I spent a lot of time on this one...maybe too much trying to make it perfect.

This is a kit that I picked up from the local drug store. The instructions left a little bit to be desired, but over all it was different. By the way my son suggested the pink color as a joke. Sorry about the sideways pictures, but on my computer they were correct.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Car Color
pcm1977 replied to pcm1977's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Actually I was going to make a Chevy Camaro Pursuit car. While to my knowledge the Ohio State Patrol does not have anything like this, I just thought it might be cool. I am using an AMT USA-1 '10 Chevy Camaro Coupe kit I got off eBay for a steal a couple years back. I am just going to put different decals on it. -
For my next build I wanted to do an Ohio State Highway Patrol car. However I know the paint is silver, but does anyone have an idea as to the exact silver color? Also how is the blue in those lights done? Is it transparent paint?

I recently acquired a Monogram '41 Willy's Pickup. I never make my models authentic, but I try to be as accurate as possible. I have a question in regards to the plug wires. Where do they go on this engine? Does anyone have some insight, either the location of the plugs or the type of engine that comes with the kit so I can research it myself? Thank You

AMT Plymouth Prowler Issues
pcm1977 replied to pcm1977's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Sorry I forgot to mention the paint type. i used a rattle can (don't have an airbrush yet). The red is Valspar premium finish gloss classic red and the black is Krylon Colormaster flat black. Both have two coats of gloss clear coat of Krylon on top. -
I bought the AMT Plymouth Prowler and wouldn't you know that as I am finishing it up I run into issues. It appears that the tires that come with the kit do not fit the back end. I followed the directions exactly and had no issues till I got to this point. It is incredibly frustrating to get this far and have some as major as the wheels not going on stop me from finishing. So I figured that if I took the Dremel tool and cut on the dotted lines below it might just solve my problem? I also have some questions about painting. It seems that no matter how long I let the paint dry (almost a month on this one) the littlest thing screws up the paint job and it never seems to dry. I wash my hands real good before handling, but somehow the paint always rubs off as I fiddle with trying to fit the body on. (the hood looks the worst) any ideas that anyone has would be greatly appreciated, thanks Peter

Help Identifying an Engine
pcm1977 replied to pcm1977's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks Longbox, that is a great help. The only other question I have is that it appears to be missing part of the transmission and maybe something from the bottom? I really have no real desire to "restore" it back to original, but more or less just want to put it in something that it would look cool in...maybe even soup up the stock engine. -
I purchased a junkyard lot off the internet and this engine came in it. I like how the engine looks and was considering fixing it up and detailing it to place in a car or truck. However I know nothing about it. I do recognize that it might be older because of the air filter on top, I also believe that it is a I6, but that is about all I can tell. I really don't want to put this engine in a VW when it is a Cummins or put it in an F-350 when it is meant for a model T. If anyone could also help fill me in on anything it might be missing to make it complete that would be much appreciated also. Thank you in advance for any help

The color looks better with natural light, I will try to get pictures tomorrow. The green looks alot better without the yellow glow from the dinning room light. As far as the height...first the body is just sitting on the frame and might come down a bit when finish putting it together. Second, this is only my fourth model and I am just nicely starting to experiment with altering from the instructions...ya know baby steps. That's for the feedback though.

Revell 1/24 '71 HEMIĀ® 'Cuda Hardtop I saw this model at my local drug store and it was on sale, so I got it. This is a picture of the painted body sitting on the frame: I put some 19" rims with low profile tires on it, I think they look much better than the stock ones that come with the kit I need to do a little detail work with the black strip, but i really like it on the lime green. and of course The Hemi: I will try to post more as it get it done.
