Thanks tbill for your interest in this build.I'll get you a few more pictures of the tanker as soon as time permits,and will probably have to draw you up a diagram on how to lower the cab,It's much easier to show you than to explain it i believe.

The cab is all paint with the exception of the blue tape striping in the white area's. Thanks.

Hello again, This truck was completed about 5 years ago and decided to make this my second entry to the site.The truck was built mostly stock out of the box with just a few modifications.As i'm sure most of you know that the cab on these kits sit way to high when compared to the real trucks,so the kits frame rail molded cab hinge locators were removed,and new "lowered" locators were fabricated along with re-positioning the rear cab rests. The front bumper was pushed out slightly to not only improve the looks of the truck,but to also allow the cab to tilt fully,(the lowered cab interfered with bumper when tilting the cab,which explains why AMT exaggerated cab height originally).Also,the grille surround was thinned so the grille would fit flusher to the cab to better replicate the real truck. And authentic paint graphics tops everything off. The tanker was modified by removing the frame and gasoline delivery tubes and valves,and smoothing the tanker body. Everything else was either built from scratch or re-purposed to suit this build. Anyway,barely got these photo's in before it started raining! Let me know what you think,and thanks again.

Absolutely stunning!! I cant imagine all the time you put into that build,but it paid off for sure!

I purchased one of these kits probably close to 10 years ago,and still have not got around to building it.I also bought a resin extended hood to a "correction" on the 379.Glad i seen the photos of the actual truck because that was clearly gonna be a mistake.Now i just have to concentrate on updating the interior since its clearly from the late 70's early 80's 379.

You're right about the cost to do new truck kits,but they would only in most cases have to do the truck bodies and interiors and leave the frames and suspensions alone.This is something Italeri has been doing for years.And consider this,they have already done one of the most popular trucks on the road today,the Prostar,so why not do a Cascadia and put it on a modified Fld 120 frame.Or better yet to save money,sell a transkit that just includes the body and interior and let us the modeler provide everything else.This would also generate sales of existing kits because we would buy them for their donor parts.

C'mon man....Is this kit for real or is somebody joking? I mean,with all the proper truck kits that could be modeled.How about a Freightliner FLD132-64T Condo Classic XL,or a Cascadia or Coronado for goodness sakes....sigh!

Great looking truck!! I have practiced weathering in the past,you and others have inspired me to pick up where i left off.I'll poke around in my unbuilt kits and find a likely candidate for the job,again nice work.

Hello Mark,thx for your kind remarks among many others.Sorry i cant remember the name of the mfg.who cast this resin engine,i built this truck some time ago.I do believe though they (the resin company) used the cat engine found in the Revell/Monogram truck kits, such as kit no.85-1506 being sold today for the mold master.

Thanks guys for the "flowers", As i said before i've been building models of all types since i was about 9.Several of the trucks i will be showing here were built a few times in the past,and each time i learned what problems to expect. So each time i would improve or reverse engineer how the truck was assembled for a better end product.There are a lot of aftermarket parts today that were not available back in the day when i started,so i had to make original kit parts work and look better.I guess old habits die hard,because i know i could make better models if i used more,but work,life,and family already take up a lot of time,so i dont have the time to research all thats out there.Now that i have a place to showcase some of my work,it will motivate me build more.I have truck/trailer projects that i started years ago that maybe i'll dust off and finish.For example,the truck i featured was finished several years ago and is to be paired with a Wilson livestock trailer thats "still" in the box! Anyway,thanks again for making me feel welcome,and stand by for more completed truck pics.

Hello, I'm a new member to the site,and have been lurking in the shadows a couple years or so. I've been building models longer than i care to remember,and i still find myself learning new tips and techniques every time i return from a long break.Anyway,i'm a little green to posting pictures on forums,so please allow me to begin among fellow modelers.For my first installment is a somewhat part box rescued truck. It features custom authentic Freightliner 2-tone paint scheme,Freightliner air-ride rear suspension from an Italeri kit,and a resin cat 3406 engine,(i could'nt make myself put the non-turbocharged cummins from the kit in it).I hope this truck can stack up to some of the other nice builds i've seen on these pages,if good feedback i will post other builds in the future,thx.
