  1. The Nancy kits for me! The Double Dragster a close second, the deal breaker being that the Revell kit is VERY accurate on parts! The DD is as well, just very simplified. Sorry, the new Slingster is just too simplified for me. Most of the new Revells are. The engine in the 50 Olds was a huge throwback to early AMT! I have a dozen Nancy kits, six DD's, zero Slingsters.
  2. Note to Mods! I am new here, if you feel this should be in the General section, feel free to move or delete!
  3. Welcome to the forum, (we must be about the same age). '64 was around the first year I got to tag along to the Drags, mostly local stuff like the Strips here in western Washington. i used to Tag along with my Uncles for the price of being their parts washer, cleaner, sander, sweeper and any other dirty job they didn't want to do! Well worth the price of admission in my book! That would mean Arlington? Pilly-ooop! Puyallup ? Kent Jerry Ruth, Hank Westmoreland , Dave Grassi, Walt Austin? Earl Paoge? Dick Kalivoda? GREAT NORTWEST RACING! Here's Dick Wilson's transition era 66 GTO funny car at Pacfic Dragways ( I think).I grew up a blower pop away in Oregon , Woodburn. This car has been found as being restored, Ooops, the Baney/ Snake car got in there! Here's a shot of Pure Heaven, thanks for looking!
  4. The facts are that cars simply can't go infinitely faster. It's been 50 years since the golden age, and T/F cars ran in the 7's then. 110 top fuel cars at Bako in 1966. Racing was WAY WAY SLOWER, but vastly more popular. How many modern T'F cars are there now,16_ 20? Who can afford it? Even Force can't get sponsors! We can't go back to 1965, but we can set more real terms for racing. That's all I'm suggesting. Pro mods regularly turn 5.50's, I thing the body regs are too liberal, but they do haul. It would help to be somewhat objective too, not focused only on what "you" like. Be honest, the stands empty out for P'S and P/SB. Not my opinion, it's fact. And NHRA TV rating are way down, live attendance is down, all NHRA does is try to ape NASCAR, and NASCAR is circling the drain compared to a few years ago! Drag racing will NEVER be big on TV, it just doesn't translate. I'd rather have costs reduced, and three or four times the car count! The Heritage series is very successful, while NHRA ignores it and still looks for a way to become the NFL. Ain't going to happen.
  5. I vote 50's Packard! Never been done, it would be cool to have Packard v-8's to work with .
  6. By going back. The cars are just too fast. It's ridiculous. I'd rather see a 5 second 1320 foot race WITH a shift than the BS FC "3" second run. Actual driving. By modernizing, I mean ditch PS/PSB, promote T/A and Pro Mod. Take it down a few notches so you don't have to be a oil sheik to race. AND, it might help local tracks as well. When I go to the March Meet and there are three dozen FC's vs barely 16 at Pomona, it tells me that usual NHRA has their priorities wrong. The big show is an "event, like wrestling or "extreme" sports, not real racing anymore. The same multi car reams ALWAYS win. As for P/S and P/SB, get real, everyone goes to get a burger. When was the last time you bought a carb'ed muscle car?
  7. In honor of the release of the SWC Willy's, here ya are. This is NOT a recreated car, it's the read deal with the original upholstery no less.NOT a clone.
  8. Great looking car! I'm planning for a similar car using the 426 wedge from the Tony Nancy car. Not to nitpick, but FYI gasser rules prohibited jacked up front ends! Yep, the car was supposed to be level. Many think they were way up there because of pics under power, 90/10 shocks WILL raise up the front. Not a big deal, just some trivia. Again, VERY COOL!!!! Something different!
  9. Missed one. Now if I could remember what day it is!
  10. Ha. Thanks, nice to among the civilized!
  11. Chris, not offhand. I can ask around. I absolutely remember them REALLY hard runners. I believe I recall them taking a hard left into the wall a Pomona one year and.... bending the car. Let me work on it. ASK AWAY GUYS! I don't know everything or have everything, but I'll try! Thanks! Here's one I have, NOT taken by me though! I'll keep looking!
  12. Hi guys, new to this form, but not to racing. Attended my first in 1965 ( 12 years old) to see The Snake in The Hawaiian. I have hundreds of pics for reference or inspiration.Lot's of detail stuff. If you have requests or questions as to scale or real drag racing, bring it on! And have fun building! Now here's a RACE car! The one and only 430 inch Lincoln Gizzle Hopper!
  13. Replacing Pro Stock AND Pro Stock bike is a good idea. Neither class really represents anything on the road today. As an OLD guy I can tell you NHRA has always been glacially slow to change and to recognize the obvious. The entire NHRA lineup from T/F on down is not sustainable, going nowhere and in desperate need of modernization if it's to survive. I haven't been to the "Big Show" in years, too expensive, too little racing, too many people...etc. Try "nostalgia" racing ( I HATE the term). It's just taking it back a notch to the 80's, WAY more fun all the way around. 'NHRA as it exists is just a circus act, it WILL NOT survive as is.
  14. Hi Name is Gary, I/m 62 years old, built my first models in 196o or so. The Aurora Cunningham, the the Monogram 1/32 kits, the Pyro Jersey bounce! (Before that a slew of ships ans airplanes). First 1/25 were AMT 64 Chevy, 64 CutlassRevell Tony Nancy dragsters, then annuals and drag cars. Stopped building in 1971 or so, started again in the 90's! I build drag cars, stockers and classics. I have, uih, hundreds of kits in my stash, build VERY slowly, in a slump the last six or seven years. I love cars, ships, aircraft and machines in general, am a student of history. Married 33 years, live in sunny SoCal. Cars are 2010 MUstang GT and 2015 Mazda6.
