  1. Here's my recently completed AMT 1/25 1965 Buick Riv. I chopped it, laid the pillars back and blocked it out flat. Wired the engine, and cut my own velocity stacks out of brass ferrules. Used the obligatory "clear" steering wheel with this one. BMF on the rockers, rattle can flat black on the body. Fun build but probably wouldn't chop this agressively next time.
  2. I read a review of this kit and went out and bought one for myself. I can honestly say I had as much fun buildind this kit as any I've completed in recent years. Because it was a simple build, I didn't get mired down with details like how much wiring and plumbing to run under the hood, because, well, it doesn't open, nor is there a motor underneath. About the biggest change I made from the kit was to eliminate the cross-bar at the top of the roll cage, replacing it with a simple piece of tubing. I know the overhead bar was supposed to be there, but I just didn't care for the part. Looked like something out of a ski-boat to me. Also eliminated the row of off-road lights across the windshield frame. I'm a bright boy but I could only make those things point at the hood. Welp, c ya I said, I'll use them on another build. It's hard to capture how grear this kit looks on a shelf with just a photo. It really comes together quickly and starts to look good early in the build. Do take the tip of turning out the screws a couple turns for a budget lift kit, it brings the model up dramatically.
  3. Love how the white letter tires make the whole build pop. Nice job!
  4. I just finished this kit- I built it straight thru as a slump buster. Really, truly a fun and fast kit that looks great on the shelf. I can't recommend it highly enough. I'll post my build on here tomorrow if you don't feel it's a thread hijack attempt PS great job on yours!!!
  5. Looks awesome. One minor suggestion- would be a light scuff on the tread of the front tires. Of course I realize that we are talking about resin tires, which completely changes the dynamic of how that is accomplised. Ok, I'll shut up now. Nice build.
  6. Great "drape" on the plug wires. Really a natural look. Nicely done overall as well.
  7. I did my Trans Am in the predicable white/blue combo- really love your Brewster green/tan combo and the keys in the ignition. If I build this model again I'm going to address the front ride height, which to me looks too high on virtually every completed kit. Great job Geno!
  8. Gary: Enjoyed your You Tube videos very much. I've got a Color Me Gone Dodge 330 under construction also. Please keep us informed on this build!
  9. Thanks one and all for the comments. I'll keep the builds coming- I have a few more I'd like to post now that I found this amazing forum and community. Thanks for the props on the T/A too. I always thought the front ride height came out a little high but it was such a clean build I left it. But make a note to knock it down in front if you ever buiild that kit.
  10. Thanks rmvw, I often use a reference photo- keeps me honest
  11. This is my first Under Glass post so be gentle on me please. This is an older build up of the '62 Catalina 1/25 kit. I added plug wires, tire weights, oil dip stick, and I cut the front spindles with a Jeweler's file to allow display at "full lock" right turn. I can't take credit for those beautiful fuel ines, they're part of this kit. Front bumper stripped and replated with a duller chrome to look like an aluminum unit which some of these Drag Cats had. I built it this way to be a part of an early 60's drag strip diorama which I hope to complete some day. Bare metal foil trim & polished rattle can paint round out this build. Comments pro and con always welcome.
  12. Very impressed by your work thus far. I had one of these kits I'd acquired as a partially built car. I noted the vast discrepancy between the left and right body thickness also- and was further put off by the odd meld of nascar guts and a stock interior. Looking at this project I wish I'd kept it now- but I passed it on to a younger builder. Will be following your progress-
  13. I steered away from some of these heavily themed show car kits back in the day for some of the reasons you've stated- some of the parts just didn't look realistic. Great idea to trim off the curtains and substitute your own fruit. Will be watching this come together. Now if you can do something about those big fake ice cubes in the Ice "T"- I'll really be impressed
