  1. No just my thoughts and observations. I guess I'm still pondering what to do with the two I have. Bottom line, they're just aren't that many around to justify a kit, in my opinion.
  2. Bottom line : "make contact with a collections buyer before you go and help them find someone you trust to dispose of the rest." in my opinion.
  3. These things do take time. A good plan will help everyone involved.
  4. With my Mom gone and doing the thing with her stuff, there are considerations. Who wants what ( make lists to keep the fighting down, {yeah, like everyone will be fighting over your model cars}), There was a bunch of talk about Ebay, Craig's List, yard sales, estate sales, and in the end, donations to charitable groups, Boys Club, Good Will, etc. Bottom line was who had the time to do that? So to my mind Rob's thought on the local club is the best answer. In my club there are a few members that said they would even pay for "The Stash" with the proceeds going to the family. Good deal all around, stuff goes to people that appreciate it for what it is, and the club members taking on the job of doing so get to gleen off the good stuff. Everybody's happy.
  5. We have lost some great builders and stalwarts of the hobby here in the Phoenix area. I recently lost my Mom, 93. Just seeing people ( friends, aquatints, relatives ) paw through things is hard enough. Joe is right.
  6. Great work ? What great work have you done ? Sorry, couldn't resist.
  7. Bob Maloy Carzyjim Tony Conant George Mack Raymond from the land down under.
  8. Anonymous from another board. Funny thing, couldn't find any builds on this board.
  9. I have been thinking about this for some time now and have come up with no good reason why this particular vehicle would be kitted. First off I thought maybe I had a case of tunnel vision and wasn't seeing the whole picture. Maybe there is a segment of the automotive world that I've missed. I go to many automotive events, 1:1 and models and really can't remember seeing too many 1941 Plymouths in any guise. Right now, let me say this, I don't think it's really a bad looking car, but it's no '40 Ford or for that matter any '40's Chevrolet(take your pic). The next question that crossed my mind was what has anyone done with them, hot rod wise ( or custom, or whatever?)? OK, pretty nice, but there ain't a whole bunch of 'em. Racing ? now we're talkin' But again, not too many.So it begs the question, why did AMT come out with this particular kit when there are so many other subjects to consider?
  10. Yeah, I ask my Mom once, how she'd build a model. " Well, just put all the parts in a bag and squirt some glue in and shake it up."
  11. More wisdom. Or is it Most wisdom. Very well spoken at any rate.
  12. Grasshopper / Green Hornet from Monogram http://hollywoodhotrods.com/the-grasshopper-aka-the-green-hornet/ this one went from real 1:1 to model to real/ Clone 1:1
  13. I'm thinkin' it's usually done the other way round. Building a model of something you have or had. High School 1965
  14. Don't be afraid to ask dumb questions. They're easier to answer than the hard ones. I had a sign made of this hanging in my classroom.
  15. Here's an interesting trailer from Aurora

  20. I was just in Target and saw an empty basket rack. Thinking about this thread I can't imagine how anyone could even begin to think they were for hauling around their basket in the store. William got it right, Stupid!
