  1. "What's funny here is; everyone is assuming that it's a copy of the revell kit. It is not. To be perfectly honest I was in the local Rite aid and my kid picked up a car & said "daddy can I get this?" "Sure can but I get the grill!" I replied." It's still a copy.
  2. An observation on hot rod trends that many here and in the 1:1 world follow, and a pondering of why? I remember many years ago someone saying hot rodding was nothing more than "Monkey see, monkey do"
  3. ec·lec·tic/iˈklektik/ Adjective: Deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources.Noun: A person who derives ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources.
  4. I think this is worthy of a thread of its own :WHAT GETS YOU GOING ?
  5. I once felt guilty taking my young son to all the cars shows I went to ,so one day I ask him if he really liked to go to the shows and which cars did he like? Pondering a moment, he looked up and told me " Dad, I like the ones with the fire on the side."
  6. Need to cut a bigger round hole? From Lowes comes this neat compass and narrow diameter handle hobby knife. Remove the pencil from the compass and insert the hobby knife make your settings and away you go. Remember with the #11 blade cutting backwards works best.
  7. I really don't mind the way this looks, and I really wouldn't mind if it was parked in my garage. I do wonder if the owner / builder tried too hard. Looking at the picture we see all the "right stuff", Cadillac air cleaner , stock looking engine, "artillery" wheels, head lights off of who knows what. Looking down the line I see a few more cars with those headlights, maybe that company sponsored the show.I guess sometimes these things just get rolling.
  8. Along these same lines, how about a "New Tool" ? Pick a couple of popular engines, SBC,Pontiac,Buick Nailhead, Ford small block, maybe a Ford or Chevy big block, an RB MOPAR and do a three tiered parts pack.1) Old school '50's-'60's 2) Middle '60's-'70's 3) something new '90's-up.at each level include some things from that era, carbs, manifold, air cleaner, valve covers, headers? These things all seem to change through the years.
  9. I wonder if any of these double kits would go now in light on the AMT DD tin and kit?
  10. Some quick numbers just from Revell suggest 8 engines, 3 body's, 7 wheel/tire sets and 5 frames/chassis and a chassis parts(front end/rear end). With a little math you can see the possibility's .I wonder if combining the parts packs to make a complete car, engine, chassis, wheel/tire pack and a body would sell? Or if a boxed set of engines or a boxed set of body's, or a set of chassis would be a better way ?
  11. . . . and I still don't get why they aren't good sellers. Here's a site put together by Bob de Bie PARTS PACKS
  12. Lots of old AMT kits had just one, it was supposed to be used with that corner of the suspension jacked up as it would be in a show. My first thought on this thread was, " Hey doesn't everyone have a bunch of those in their parts box?"
  13. Did you know this was his nick name for many years?Check out his part in Sex Kittens . . .
  14. He was the fireman in The Towering Inferno.Norm's other work
  15. How do you arrive at these conclusions with such small and limiting detail ?It is labeled as an "accessory engine".
  16. Yes it did. I just can't find the bigger picture. Sorry.
  17. Just hoping someone would see this and do some reverse engineering down to the correct size.At least I'm not hijacking the thread with some inane comment as to "size matters"
  18. As Casey and Ben pointed out :Aurora Racing Scenes
  19. That was my first thought.
  20. "a lot of parts" ? How many did you have in mind? This could vary in relation to what is kitted and what scale. "would need detailing" ? This would depend on how far the builder wanted to go.Most kits require some additional "detailing" in this area. "are there other kits out there that are care based?" Yes indeed. Like I said, We'll have to wait and see what everyone comes up with. I'll bet there will be a bunch.
  21. I hear the Chrysler Turbine Car from Jo-Han is also quite good.
  22. I'd bet there are others. Maybe after all the sillyness wears down people will get back on the subject. I like the detail in the old MPC 1/16th scale 427 Cobra.
