  1. I can only build while the wife & kids are sleeping....so for me.....it's just peace and quiet. peace. and. quiet.
  2. I haven't built a car with mirrors in a while (i mostly build NASCAR), but I started on a 70 FORMULA 400 where I pinned the mirrors on first, before the paint. I wouldn't want to mess up the paint, I have the worst luck..... I'm going to see how it goes...I'll let you know how I make out. Jamie
  3. You forgot my Jetta....
  4. Sorry Ken, I thought you were referring to me......whoops...
  5. If you've read my posts earlier, I have already said that. I will continue to build my models and at the same time realizing that they will not be published. I honestly don't care if I NEVR get into a mag. I really don't... The purpose of my thread was too see if there was a legal reason, and if anyone else has run into this predicament. Yes, I buy decals from Mike, I get decals from Chimneyville, from Slixx, you name it. And, I never said people are telling me I CAN'T build a certain model. That's just crazy....
  6. All I've ever wanted was a VW JETTA made (1988 thru 1998; II & III). I have searched high and low for even a diecast of one of these but to no avail. They've made Golfs, Scrioccos, new beetles, but NO JETTAS.
  7. My feelings exactly! I hope Michael Moore doesn't start reading this.... Billy, start posting those chew cars buddy! I can't wait to see them in March!
  8. That's crazy man, I didn't even know they kitted that car!!!! Looks cool....
  9. Amen brother.....amen....... Yeah, the pic of that car wasn't the right one, it was in the contest mag. If you put it in the contest mag, then put it in the regular version. Or keep it consistent and don't put it in the contest one either... BTW Gregg, I'll some cars at the NNL East, if you're going to be there. Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge...... I hope I didn't ruffle any feathers with htis post!!!
  10. Look how sunburned the dude is in the second picture!! This is going to be a cool build, I'm looking foward to seeing how this plays out.....
  11. Interesting...... if you don't mind me asking, where did you get this info from? I'm not disagreeing with it at all cause it sounds legit, I was just curious... If XYZ Mag had said that from the get-go, I would have totally been fine with that. Although I do remember a Formula One car printed in the mag one time within the last year with Marlboro sponsors on it... but hey, it's not my place to say anything.. Sam... I'm not sure if it's the same one, but I could see that happening.... I was just curious about the whole situation and was wondering of anyone else ran into the same situation, that's all.... Thanks for replying guys!
  12. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.................................
  13. Two years ago, I was at the NNL East where an undisclosed magazine was taking pictures for their 'zine. I entered a couple of my NASCARS in the show, and later, I found out that one of the cars I had entered in the show was not photographed because of the decals / sponsors on it. The photgrapher had told me, "It's a great model, but I can't photograph it because it has alcohol/tobacco sponsors on it." The photographer had told me later through email that they don't want kids to be influencd by the car's sponsors when they look through the magazine. I'm sorry, but Harry Gant didn't make me start using Skoal and I highly doubt that looking at a car with that sponsor would make a child start using it. Now, I wasn't mad because my car wasn't photographed (I could really care less), I was a little mad beacuse the only reason was the sponsors. I guess my reasonig for not aggreeing with XYZ mag is that I spent many hours building this model to have it not photographed just because of the decals. My question to Model Car Magazine is this: Do you guys "filter" the cars or have guidelines about sponsors to determine if they are shot for the magazine? Also, is there a legal issue that I don't know about? And, have any of you guys run into this as well, or is it just me? I'll still be building the same cars, and still not expecting to get into the mag, although it won't bother me that they won't. This is not a rant, well maybe a little, but more of an honest question to MCM..... Jamie
  14. Looks great! The paint is SMOOOOOTH! You know it's good when you get reflections on white paint!!! nice.......
  15. Very nice build.....very clean! It does bother me a bit when you're mentioning that little platic guys are building these cars. Especially in the third person point of view...... Kinda creepy..... The Vette looks fantastic.
  16. Ah, you noticed that! Very cool, I did that on purpose to get away from the wheels not sitting flush to the ground as they were loaded. I'm excited you noticed it............ And thanks guys for all the great replies. I was curious to see what you guys thought of this one.. Jamie
  17. I'm going with model. And a kick-a** model at that!
  18. Basically, this is the exact car I'm building. I found this one off the web a la Google, but the lady's 400 looks exactly like this, except she has the aero kit in the front. Everything else is to the T...
  19. Great idea! I like it! do you want people to know they are Hummer rims, or are you going to change/modify them? Cause they are very distinct. I'll be watching this one!
  20. This is a pretty much box stock build, except for the window netting with was made from the stuff they use to fix holes in plaster walls. The name of it escapes my mind! This was a fun build and didn't take me too long to do... Thanks for looking!
  21. I'm a big NASCAR nut, and my favorite body styles they had were the Olds and the Buicks. And one of my all time favorite cars was the Quaker State Buick. So I HAD to do it up right! This is the most detailed build I've done to date. The list is: scratch built rotors and threads (made from guitar string) window net made from coffee filter paper plumbed engine, trunk and interior Modern Motorsports fuel filler kit Model Car Garage hood hinges scratch built exhaust can't think of anything else.... Anyways...here's the pics: I know most of you guys don't really follow NASCAR builds, but this is my favorite so I had to share... Jamie

    1969 Z28

This was made for my dad last year, this was his "baby" in 1969.....so I had to build it like he had it...Nothing crazy, pretty much box stock. Please ignore the dust on the roof!!! Hope ya like it! Thanks for looking! Jamie
  23. Thanks guys! Very interesting...... The only drawback I see is the fact that it's not a build for me, so I need to know what the turnaround time would be for something like that. If it takes too long, I'm not sure I could do it. But if it's not too bad, say a week or two, I might be able to make that happen.....
  24. Yeah, it's for the 1:24th scale........How would one go about doing that?
  25. Thanks for the compliments guys! If there's anything that looks off or whatever, I'm pretty good with critisism.... I think I'll be doing more engine work tonight...... Oh, and Tony, I'm from North Plainfield, NJ, if that helps...LOL!
