Sweet!! -
Those '75 - '78 Fords were oversized rubber boats with no rudders! I used to get seasick when trying to run hot in one. Now the '77-'78-'79 Furys with the 440s ... whoa, Nelly! Grab your donkey and hang on ... when you pushed on the go-pedal they were already gone! Loved those little hotshots. Got T-Boned in one during a high-speed pursuit (well, 45+ miles into it) when another copper behind me failed to negotiate the left turn and drove straight into my driver's door (and my left ribcage). It still held up pretty well despite being about 15" shorter on the left side than the right side ... and still handled better than those dang Fords!

How Are You Preparing for the Winter Months?
Danno replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bring it on, dude! It was great seeing you (and the Sainte who tolerates you) last weekend ~~ too bad I got roped into judging or we could have jawboned more! {Congrats on your win. Loved seeing the St Louis '57 in person!} Don't forget - - - - GoodGuys SPRING NATIONALS in March and Desert Scale Classic 8 in April!!! PS: After the DSC, we're having a barbeque ~ and our club's monthly meeting and contest ~ at Casa Baker ~ for all the attendees. It's right on the way out of town toward Las Wages. And, by then Hollywood Jim should be resettled here in town, so I know he'll be hangin' with us. John Teresi promises to make DSC again this year; and there'll be a couple of gangs and clubs from California, a New Mexico club, and the White Mountain contingent at the very least. Some kinda amazing collection of talent and BS-ers! You'll have to stop by. You'll fit right in! And, you can have a personal tour of the 1/25 cop shop and firehouse! As the paramedics say ... Seizure! -
Nice, Lyle! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Harry, That's a "STOP" light. In the 50's and earlier, some law enforcement agencies used them to make traffic stops. The patrol officer would pull up alongside and slightly ahead of the errant motorist, then illuminate the "STOP" light on the right front fender to signal the motorist to pull over. Obviously, by the mid-60's they were all but obsolete as it was becoming too dangerous for an officer to pull alongside an unknown 'customer,' exposing himself/herself to sideswiping, ramming, or gunshots. The more accepted ~ and safer ~ practice of stopping behind the motorist and approaching cautiously from his/her blind side became more common and the usefulness of the "STOP" light was gone. Michigan used a variation ... the illuminated "STOP" sign in the middle of the patrol car's hood ... they used those for decades and if I'm not mistaken, they still have them on their patrol cars ~ probably more out of tradition than any functional need.

So, Chris ... Is it true? The rumor I heard that the rolling/running chassis will be done and on display at GoodGuys Southwest Nationals next weekend? We'll save the table space for you, bud! -
I say MODEL! Hey! It's phenominal! I'm 100% accurate when voting after Harry reveals the answer.

The 14th Annual GoodGuys Southwest Nationals Model Car and Pedal Car Show will be Friday-Saturday-Sunday, November 18-19-20, 2011 at Westworld in Scottsdale, AZ. The Model Car and Pedal Car Show will take place all three days. Goodguys at Scottsdale is Arizona's longest-running model car/truck event! As an extra added attraction for model car/truck builders, there will be as many as 2,500 1:1 scale rods, customs, street machines, muscle cars, and special interest vehicles on display for modeling inspiration! Here's the scoop: Registration is Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 11am. You may register and enter as many models and/or pedal cars as you would like to bring. There is no entry fee to register for the Model Car and Pedal Car Show/Contest. Past winners are welcome for display. We encourage you to bring all or as many of your models as you'd like, even if they've been displayed or entered before! There will be thousands of spectators on hand to see your models and they love all varieties of model cars and trucks! Where else can your model get that kind of exposure? There is no entry fee for model cars or pedal cars, but you must pay regular admission to get into the event either Friday or Saturday in order to enter the Model Car and Pedal Car Show/Contest. When you enter the Model Car and Pedal Car Show/Contest, you will receive a free all-day pass to enter the event on Sunday to pickup your models/pedal cars (between 2pm and 3pm). So, at the very least, you get two days' admission for the price of one! Peoples Choice balloting and selection of the Top 12 will be conducted all three days; awards will be displayed with winning models and pedal cars on Sunday following the Revell Make-N-Take event. There will be a Best of Show award and Best Junior Model award; both conferred by critical judging. There will be a People's Choice Award and Top Twelve Models awards selected by spectator balloting. Last fall nearly 1200 spectators voted for their favorite models! There will be a Revell Make-N-Take event on Saturday at 1pm and on Sunday at 11am at the Model Car and Pedal Car Show. Revell will provide a free snap kit for each child 15 years of age & under who is in attendance and builds the kit on site. Moonlight Modelers Club members will be on hand to advise or help the youngsters with their kits if needed. The Southwest Nationals Model Car and Pedal Car Show/Contest will be inside the big ‘tent’ building (where the Barret-Jackson auction is held) at the main entry to the GoodGuys Southwest Nationals event. >>> Post any questions here, or contact the show director at GoodAZGuy@cox.net <<< Come see us there!!! Look! LOOK! LQQK! [Pick your own caption.] (1) It's THE REAL General Lee! (2) It's the one and only General Lee! (3) It's the most detailed General Lee ever! (4) It's the most authentic General Lee ever! (5) It's the most authentic, most detailed, best General Lee ever ... built his way! And, his way. And his way ... and his way ... and their way ... and his way ... and her way ... and his way ... and ... Yikes.

You misspelled it. Gobble has two letters 'b.' And you got the date wrong. The Gobble War is Thursday the 24th.
