  1. This is the old 21 year old Monogram kit. The decals were trashed so I ended up painting on the graphics. Engine is wired and plumbed. Shaved door handles. Refinished in BASF yellow lacquer. Interior was done in PPG lacquers. Overall it was cleared with a DuPont urethane clear coat.
  2. Revell kit. Body modifications as follows: removed four wheel opening moldings, and rocker panel trim, I added new upper body side moldings, Engine wired and plumbed, chassis was detailed with brake and fuel lines, and parking break cable. Main body was refinished in white BASF lacquer, red was PlastiCoat lacquer, blue was PPG lacquer, clear coated with DuPont urethane clear (a real mongrol paint job) but it worked out great. Decals were by Slixx.
  3. Revell kit, Engine wired an plumbed. Painted in BASF lacquer, DuPont urethane clear coat.
  4. Revell kit, wired and plumbed, scratch built traction bars and tail pipe extensions. Parts box wheels and tires. Refinished in PPG white and Plasticoat blue lacquers, DuPont urethane clear coat. This was the first time using the new improved BMF. This stuff works really well, conforms and polishes up beautifully.
  5. Lindberg kit, refinished in PPG lacquer. Scratch built dashboard, wooden running board strips, hood strap with buckle. This was a really fun kit. Everything fit extremely well, but the instructions were lousy and wrong in a few areas.

    Ford GT90

Ertl Kit (snap kit). Opened up the grill and rear body vents and detailed with metal screen. Scratch built front and rear Ford oval emblems. Made from polished aluminum with kit supplied decals and heavy clear over top. Scratch built parking and back up lights. Installed plug wires (what a waste of time). Refinished in PPG ultra white lacquer with DuPont urethane clear coat.
  7. Revell of Germany kit. A really well engineered kit, but a PITA to put together. This kit is almost 20 years old, so the decals were useless. Built OOB. Refinished in BASF platinum frost lacquer with a typical DuPont urethane clear coat. This kit was definitely a skill level 4. The final assembly was very time consuming. The whole build took about 4 or 5 weeks.
  8. Pretty much OOB, except for added belts to the front seats and receivers. Refinished in BASF lacquer- Ruby Mica, with DuPont urethane clear coat.
  9. I started this kit about 20 years ago and I figured it was time to finish it. Painted in custom mix dark blue metallic with urethane clear coat. Minimal wiring, added four point harnesses, front side markers.
  10. The kit is by Lindberg in 1/24 scale.
  11. This kit was a fun build. Everything went together very precisely. Very tight tolerances, but everything lined up perfectly. I ended up stripping about half of the kit's chrome (two tree's worth). A few scratch built under hood details. Minimal wiring and plumbing. Refinished in PPG lacquers, no clear. Very pleased with the end result. My next one will have an Allison engine. Hah. It's got the room for it.
  12. It's hard to believe this came out of an AMT box. This kit is very well engineered and detailed. Unusually high parts count and plenty of delicate pieces and some of the best chrome I have ever seen. Nice and smooth with no dirt at all. I was really impressed and it went together with no problems at all, but it needed a few scratch-built details. Refinished in DuPont lacquers; engine wired and plumbed; scratch built fuel pump and fuel filter, throttle and choke cable, generator, and distributor, and ignition coil. Scratch built interior door handles and window cranks, shifter, parking brake lever, trunk hold down straps and side lift handles. Very enjoyable, but time consuming build. Spent about a month doing it. I realllly like these old kits. I wish the old time engineers were still around; we need more kits like this.
  13. Revell kit, molded hood to the fenders, then cut off the front and fabricated front hinge, scratch built firewall, scratch built master cylinder, scratch built headers, parts box tunnel ram intake manifold (modified small block Mopar piece), engine wired and plumbed, scratch built battery and tray, and generator, scratch built roll bar, parts box tires and wheels, refinished in DuPont lacquer with satin clear coat.
  14. How about AL Champion Of AC Delco and AC spark plugs?
  15. Refinished in BASF lacquers Light Amathyst Smoke and DuPont urethane clear. This was pretty much OOB except for the addition of scratch built engine cover lift pistons. No need to wire and plumb because you can't see anything once the engine is put in.
  16. " The Wraith"
  17. " Christine "
  18. Gone in 60 seconds
  19. Engine wired and plumbed, refinished in BASF lacquers and DuPont urethane clear. This kit went together much like a Tamiya kit as far as the quality of the parts and the fit. The toughest part was putting all the decals on.
  20. After staring at this box for 20 years I figured it was time to build it. I had never seen one built before so I figured I'd give it a shot. Added some seatbelts, plumbed and wired, refinished in BASF lacquers, DuPont urethane clear coat.
  21. I didn't realize how old this kit was. From what i understand it was made in the early 70's. That explains why the plastic was so brittle. Excellent kit for it's age. Engine wired and plumbed, scratch built air filter, refinished in DuPont lacquers, DuPont urethane clear coat.
  22. I didn't realize how old this kit was. From what i understand it was made in the early 70's. That explains why the plastic was so brittle. Excellent kit for it's age. Engine wired and plumbed, scratch built air filter, refinished in DuPont lacquers, DuPont urethane clear coat.
  23. This kit's not as crappy as people say it is. I consider it to be a blank canvas. The details are soft, but workable, with some scratch building. The 17 piece body went together very well and precisely. (I was really impressed.) The only real problem was the front and rear bumpers and the mounts. They had to be re-worked to look okay, but not perfect. The engine was wired and plumbed. Scratch built inside and outside door handles, window cranks, outside rear view mirror, and tail lights. Parts box fog lights, windshield wipers, and tires. Refinished in PPG lacquers, clear coated with DuPont urethane clear.
  24. Revell (Model King Kit) Refinished in electric current red lacquer, DuPont urethane clear coat, engine wired and plumbed, scratch built pulleys and belt on blower, throttle linkage, scratch built front shock absorbers, modified dashboard with photo reduced gauges with formed wire bezels, vinyl floor mats, parts box front wheels and tires. This kit was a PITA, but worth the effort. A lot of fiddly parts, but it's all good. Thanks Model King for a nice re-issue; brings back a lot of old memories.
  25. And they said it couldn't be done... Considering it was an old kit, it wasn't too bad. It just needed a lot of TLC. The entire body was re-scribed, as well as the interior. The finishes are DuPont Laquer, BASF Laquers, cleared with DuPont Urethane. Parts box, tires, and white wall inserts, loads of foil.
