  4. I wont . Mike and I might do that when I get back to that stage
  5. Dont mind at all James . guess this happens once in a while . and yes I sanded the body lightly . and I think your analysis of what happened is right on . and I did give it a bit too much paint .
  6. DONE GONE AND screwed it up . will be fun trying to get back from this . will save it . come hell or high water
  7. little progress first painted the hood red . to do a rising sun style hood . and the body metallic blue removed the tape . and it looked awful . found rims i think . trying to fix the lines on the hood . take 1 result not good . trying to fix hood take 2 sanded it down . and going to think whats next . might just turn it black then played with spoiler ideas . might not do them so this is where i am now . need to think about it . might go to the interior build for a while
  8. no problem and yes it really is too bad . but as far as i could read some of the other model Companys bought Otaki.s molds and tooling so this may still be out there . i think it was fujimi and another one who bought them .
  9. been doing some sanding on the body . and the chrome parts are swimming , then got it basecoated in silver and some repair sanding . and resprayed basecoat
  10. its pretty old guessing around 1970 . the Otaki company went bust back in the 70-80s
  11. i think you are right .. just going to make it an everyday jdm Run-a-round .
  12. thank you Tony . glad you like em
  13. going to slowly start a new project . this its the 1970 Toyota corona from Otaki . i dont yet know what i will be doing here . should it be box stock or Custom i have no idea about color yet could be anything ... now the interior sucks on this kit the seats are half sized . because i guess they liked to make these kits into slot-cars back then. so it has a battery compartment and room for a motor inside . and there are gears on the back axle . so there is some work in that if i choose to try and fix it the body is pretty nice on first glance. the doorhandle,s are hollow and corona emblems is molded on the side. but it does have some heavy mold lines to remove . and the chrome is awful allround .. oh and the instructions are missing from the kit . its an od kit witch i have not been able to find Any info on or even a single picture of online. shame i dont read japaneese then maybe .??? anyone know anything ??? your ideas or thoughts on this project are very welcome .
  14. thank you Roy . I was very unsure if I broke some unwritten law by taking the original wheels away. from this classic kit . but end of the day I think it looks good with this combination of wheels. and it makes it uniqe from the others around...
  15. thanks john . and no you dont see it much

  18. Just finished a Bathtub buggy from 1969 .
  19. Hey I have had this fun little project in the past few days. this 1969 showrod kit went together very nice. the plans was missing so I built it from pictures not really a problem with this one. but I also had my first encounter with Waterslide decals on this kit. but I was really surprised how good that turned out. only struggled with the one inside the sink. but they where also 48 years old but they still went on straight (and no silvering ) i did break the Horn so had to leave it out . i then wired up the engine and added a distributor , it also has custom wheels ill explain them further down. The Rims and Tires. i want to use the originals for another project , so i had to make / get some replacements . the front pizza cutter wheels are from a old Meccano Engineer set. And the rear Slicks are Actually 6 wheels put together . 2x 1:32 scale Siku diecast Terra style Rear tractor Tires. with the thread grinded off with a dremmel and then sanded with sandpaper . and inside those (for rims) i have 2 metal wheels with rubber tires (from yet another engineers set) in each side . this was my second build and i enjoyed the time with it over a couple of days it turned out pretty good. its a wacky thing for sure ..
