  1. I guess once you've tasted Pocher, OCD is the next step in this hobby. Unbelievable. The latch is dead-on. I retire from this kit in shame.
  2. Based on the rearview mirror, I'll go with real – but this is the toughest one ever.
  3. I don't know for sure about the relative wheel sizes, but there's a 1/12 Mini kit that might be helpful if you want to make the investment just to steal rthe wheels.
  4. That is exactly what you need. The whole book is devoted to Wingrove's scratch build of this car and includes 17 color pictures (including those on the covers) and scads of black and white photos, complete with parts diagrams and crisp engineering drawings of body, chassis, suspension, engine etc. PS: Go to www.geraldwingrove.com, go to the bottom of the page and click on Bugatti. It'll take you to a 15-picture gallery of this car.
  5. Never heard of a "Victoria" terminology for this car. Can you post the kit box art or be more specific about the details on this car? There's tons of info out there on a variety of Bugatti Royale versions, which you can access with searches on Google (search in Google images) or on eBay ("all categories," which will turn up everything on the subject from books to parts to models, etc) - you just have to bookmark it and keep looking every day.
  6. When I registered here, I thought I filled out all the right fields but I don't see my name listed under my posts. Comments? (Skip Jordan)
  7. Here's one currently on eBay. Not the best I've seen. http://cgi.ebay.com/1-8-Scale-Jaguar-XKE-2...1QQcmdZViewItem
  8. Killer paint – the metallic is unusually refined for this scale. What did you use?
  9. Despite the labor pains, it was well worth it. And the fact is, you accomplished all of this in a relatively short period of time for a Pocher. Outstanding & unique among all other builds I've seen. Now finish that XKE.
  10. This is a beautifully accurate and detailed kit that takes some care in building. The headlight and fender mounting brackets are extremely thin and fragile, so you have to watch out for that. Just a few other observations about reference material... • This kit was produced over 30 years ago, based on a car that has since been bought and restored by Ralph Lauren. This car can be seen in "The Great Cars" by Ralph Stein and the book on the 2005 Lauren collection exhibit at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, "Speed, Style, and Beauty." • A color cutaway illustration of a similar car (one of 5 "Birkin Bentleys" as they were called), a detailed photo foldout and an article on the 4-1/1 litre blower Bentley can be found in issue 11 of The Encyclopedia of SuperCars, a discontinued magazine series (though fresh copies are available in the UK at magsbackissues.com). The kit looks terrific when you use real wire mesh instead of painting molded clear parts for stone guards and radiator. Another detail touch for accuracy is to add 4 cylindrical wheel weights per wheel, evenly spaced around the inside middle of the rims.
