  3. I don't know if it is real or a model, but I do know it is the indy 500 car the golden submarine built by harry Miller in 1917.
  4. It sure is, I don't think it ever made a good pass down the drag strip.
  5. the night stalker, chain drive, side wider mustang, funny car driven by john force.
  6. This one http://www.slixx.com/s1724.htm?id=2741
  7. It would have to be Jim Ewings coupe. It was a cool car he did a ton of coast to coast trips in.
  8. Your just up the road, I'm close to Gosport
  9. Hi, I am from south west Indiana, down in the hills. What part of the state you in poland?
  10. Hi Dave, Your Dragster is turning out super, I have always been a big fan of your models. Parts by Parks makes some real nice spun aluminum wheel covers for that kit, they look real cool if you add the dzus fasteners to them. At one time I did some carbon fiber work on Big Daddy's 1:1 top fueler, he is a great guy just do not get talking about space aliens.
  11. That is just too cool, Do you have any photos from when you were building it? I would love to see them.
  12. I have gotten a little more done on the Kurtis Looking at photos I realized I had made the hood too long so I redid the nose. Also the rear needed the sides to have less tapper so I added some pie shaped pieces to each side. Only the first 500C had the cockpit cut out on the right side so I started to fill that to make it correct for the car I am doing. I have also gotten rid of the outlet ducts on the engine bay. At the speed I am working on this I should be finished in around 2020
  13. I have had good luck glass beading the paint and decals off diecast but I am not sure how you could save the grill and headlights that way. I will email you with photos I have of scotts car maybe they will help you with this project. Jim
  14. Hi, I have been wanting to do the Jim Head Toyota Solara funny car and have not found a 1/24 body. Are you going to modify the Toliver Celica to make it look like Scott's Solara? If you do please let me know how it works out. I do not know if you have seen this link put it has some good photos of scotts car. http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/engine/...e/photo_03.html
  15. I would like to build that myself, It would look real cool next to my Kenny Bernstein top fuel dragster.
  16. I have taken measurements off off Kurtis 500's at the 500 Hall of Fame and I think I have done the math right. All the 500 series Kurtis's seem to be very close in size. The Monogram kit was made to be 1/24 scale and I am converting to 1/25 scale. But even at 1/24 the Monogram was too long. If you stand in front of the car and look down the side there is little if any taper in the hood sides witch the monogram had quite a bit measurements back this up. The wheel base is 96" on the 1:1 witch I think would make it 3.84" in 1/25 scale. The monogram is 4.10" and after the modifications I did mine is 3.80" so mine ended up a hair to short (0.04"). I probably sanded to much trying to get the gaps tight after cutting the .25 out of the cock pit. The overall length is about 170" on the real car and mine is 6.75" and Monograms is 7.20". The width of the actual car at the fire wall is 37" and the monogram and my modified one are about 1.76". I think I have it real close to correct. The Monogram kit has very good detailing lines and the Dzus fasteners even have the slots for the tool. I have a lot of Indy and cart kits from Etzel, Sellers and Jorgensen and the Monogram just looked too long displayed with them. I have always been a fan of the Indy 500 I started going to the race when I was 7 years old. We only live about an hour from the track, so we go over to the museum often.
  17. Hi, I was reading Jairus's post on cutting down the 47 midget and had the idea of cutting down and resizing Monograms Kurtis 500 car to correct it being to long and the tapper on the sides. I think it is starting to look about right. I made it 7/8" shorter, an 1/8" from the nose and a 1/4" from the hood, cockpit and tail. Then I took a pie cut out of the width zero at the nose to 1/8" just behind the seat to get ride of the incorrect taper it had. I needs some more cutting in the rear pelly pan to give it more of upward curve. Also I will need to fill the cut down on the right side. Please let me know if you think I am on the right track with this. In the photos the white on is the one I have cut down. thanks
  18. I build ships and boats from the civil war to the early 1900's as will as 1:1 wooden boats.
  19. Hi Jairus, You started me thinking if the Monogram Kurtis Indy car could be cut down to make it a true 1/25 scale. I looked at it pretty good last night and think it can be done. I have a few of the kits so I think I will cut one up and see if it works out. Thank you for the idea I would have never thought of it without your post.
  20. Hi, It seems to me someone trying to do identity theft would have it easier looking in a phone book. There they would get a name address and the phone number, They still would need a few more things I would think. Out here in the country we all have are full names out on the street on the mail box and I would think a lot more people would see it there than on a form for us goofy people that play with plastic toys. Now as my dad would say when us kid would start fighting, "lets go to town and get some ice cream then we will forget about all of this".
  21. Dwayne, I have the magazine that was in I will try and find it and PM you a full size photo.
  22. Hi, I have started building the Revell Don Prudhomme 1970 Cuda funny car. So far I have modified the frame making a lot of it from styrine. I have cleaned up the front axle and made new coil over shocks. On the rear ladder bars I removed the wheelie bars and coil overs and used some after market coilovers. I made new steering arm from styrine and made a tie rod from aluminum. The snake and mongoose kit from revell seems to be a lot cruder than the other Revell funny car kits I have built. Thanks for looking
  23. I sure like the Dyno Don Maverick.
  24. Hi, I got a Tamiya 1/12 M23 from my son and some great books from my wife.
