  1. I’ve noticed that some people have been complaining about ebay’s fees and policies. We already have a good alternative, emodelcars.com, if more people would start using it. I’m as guilty as anyone for not using it, but tonight I have listed some things and will start checking it daily. Gregg has put a lot of time and money into this and it would be stupid for us to not use it. If we start using emodelcars then more people will join in and there will be more items for sale. Gregg if you read this can we make a post on the forum that says what we listed on emodelcars.com. Allowing us to make a post that says what we listed may help generate traffic to emodelcars.
  2. My son and I have been living in a little cabin while we build our house. We have about 6 more months before we can move in the house so we have set up a desk to build on. I am building the Trojan Horse funny car using a Revell Blue Max kit and Slixx decals I have got the paint and decals done on the body and then cleared it with future. I have just started on the chassis. The only modifications so far are the aluminum fuel tank strap and I turned a drive shaft out of aluminum.
  3. funny cars, top fuel dragsters, and indy 500
  4. We moved when i was 7 in 1969 i had no friends at the new house so i started building models. My dad drag raced and owned the speed shop in town so i did drag car models. My first one was a falcon i think i spray painted it metallic blue. I remember gluing two slicks together and bondoing up the gap to make super wide slicks. I remember it as turning out great but i bet it looked like ######.
  5. hi, I ran the composite shop at mckenny race cars untill a stroke a few years ago. I needed a slower life after the stroke so now i have a sheep farm (i have herd all the sheep jokes) we have shetland sheep.
  6. Hi, I worked for Mckinney race cars untill 2001 building top fuel dragsters and funny cars. At that time the funny cars were dry sump but most of the dragsters were wet sump again. In 1999 and 2000 about 1/2 the dragsters went to wet sump to help with the new oil down rules. You can tell by the body (mud flap) on the right side steps out 2 1/2" to fit the dry sump tank. The Troxel car is a Hadman so in 06 it could of had a mag body or later in the year the 1 pc cabon body. both had differant outlet ducks on the sides than the revell as well as taller cockpit sides and 1 pc wing. As far as motor and clutch stuff i am no help that went in after it left us. Hope i could be some help.
  7. wave and studio27 have done larger runs of kits in resin. They are both from japan not the usa
  8. I just got a Model King Challenger Funny Car. The it is pretty nice except for the body it has a ton of shrinkage marks on the hood, trunk and sides. Has anyone but me had this or did I just luck out and get a bad one. All the model king kits I have got in the past have always been top notch.
  9. I vote for a dark red
  10. hi, you do know the car in the photo is a 28/29 ford not a 32.
  11. They look great! I got a set of the Parnelli Jones decals off ebay for a blue max kit I have, but they are pretty fuzzy. I guess I will have to redraw them and print a set after seeing how good yours looks.
  12. Hi, We sell drag racing stuff our web site is www.micronitro.net also comp resins has a lot.
  13. I got a Replicas & miniatures S.C.O.T blower to a ardon intake.
  14. I watch this forum most every day and post when i have some thing to say. This is a easy forum to navigate. The people are interested in building the best models they can but still have good things to say to us not as gifted. Now I have to get back to another model forum were there has been a 3 month debate over how many leafs in the right rear spring there were in the stones woods and cooks Willys on oct. 13 1963 at 4:06 in the afternoon.
  15. I got some decals from fremont to do the Hawiian dragster.
  16. hi, I ran the carbon shop for McKinney corp for years making carbon parts for top fuel and funny cars. On the 1/1 parts we also had to cut relief like Jairus said. So the relief cuts actually make the part more realistic. I put a coat of future wax over the carbon decals to finish it off it looks the same as clear but I'm always afraid of the clear paint eating into the decal (call me chicken).
  17. Hi, I am Jim from Indiana. I got into models from my son Joe. We had a 27 ford roadster in the shop I would put Joe in with race car models to keep him busy while I would work. In 1999 I had a stroke and had to quite my job running the composite shop at McKinney Race Cars. After spending a year in rehab I stared building models with my son and then started a few of my own untill I was hooked. I now have two sheep farms www.dancingbear-farm.com (no sheep jokes please) in Indiana which is a slower pace than building top fuel funny cars but I do have more time to spend with my wife and son. Lately my son and I have been building machened aluminum and resin part for 1/25 drag race cars and have been selling them on the internet. www.micronitro.net We are having fun and getting better at it but I think it will be a long time to pay off the CNC machines and autoclaves. 21. Hi, My son and I went to the US Nats in Indy last weekend. There were quite a few front engine dragsters there I thougth some of you might like to see photos of. I will post a few if you want to see more let me know.
  22. I bet if it had a flathead it had a Ford banjo style rear end. A quick change if they had the money or std. if they were on a budget. Could you post a photo of the car it would be cool to see. This is the first time I have posted on the internet I hope it works.
