  1. Hi all, Hobby Time is a scam, as you would expect. They have our address listed as their address, but this is NOT associated with us at all. Companies like these offer kits for dirt cheap, then utilize stolen credit card information to place orders on a web store's site. If something seems too good to be true, it most certainly is. We are in the process of trying to get this page and website taken down, but these things take a long time. Please be careful out there!
  2. TOS = Temporarily out of stock. This means they expect it to return at some point, but they have no ETA. As opposed to "Discontinued", which means the manufacturer is not making it again.
  3. Hey everyone, the new Salvinos Buddy Baker car kit is here and we're now shipping! We have plenty of them to go around, but it is a one-time run. So if you've been looking for it, be sure to grab it while you can. Free shipping to the Lower 48 USA on orders over $100, so if you want three of them (or 1-2 and some supplies), you can save on shipping cost too! https://www.megahobby.com/products/1980-oldsmobile-442-buddy-bakers-napa-gray-ghost-1-25-salvinos-jr.html
  4. Hi everyone, just wanted to let you all know that we're expecting the new Salvinos JR Buddy Baker kit to arrive in the next few weeks. It's available for preorder on our site: https://www.megahobby.com/products/preorder-1977-oldsmobile-442-buddy-bakers-napa-gray-ghost-1-25-salvinos-jr.html. We'll get them shipped out as soon as we receive them from Salvinos. If you want a few, three of them will put you over the free shipping threshold
  5. MegaHobby.com is totally great. We're unbiased here right?
  6. Curious what everyone's favorite Instagram accounts are for car modeling (or anything car-related, really). Thanks!
  7. Indeed I did, but I don't like taking people's posts without their permission. So a post on this thread gives me permission to use it
  8. Hey everyone, we're looking to collect some great modeling tips to share with our customers. We'd love to hear from you! Let us know some modeling tips that have helped you create some of your best projects, and include pictures if you have. We'll post them on our social media pages over the upcoming months! Thanks guys!
  9. Steve, when I said available until June, what I meant was available in the USA. The refills are legally not allowed to be shipped overseas by air (though that may not stop some European companies from doing so anyway). Like Zoom Zoom said, they need to be properly labeled for the USA, which Molotow has told us will be June.
  10. As an FYI, the chrome refills from Molotow will not be available until June at the earliest. We buy directly from Molotow and get our information directly from their product rep. So don't let other retailers try and convince you that they are going to have them "real soon" or "in a month". Don't fall for the trap of "be sure to check our website all the time" As soon as we have a definitive date for them, we will let everyone know on the forum and list it on our website for purchase. Molotow says the product will be released in June.

  15. Hi everyone, MegaHobby.com will be CLOSED on Wednesday, October 19 to move to a new building just down the road. Please be advised that our phone lines will be down and we will not be shipping orders that day. Any correspondences will be responded to on Thursday, October 20 and we will ship out all your orders that same day as well. Thank you for your patience! For more information please see our blog post: https://www.megahobby.com/blog/megahobbycom-is-moving/ Thanks! Alan
  16. Hi Charlie, While I haven't personally tried it myself, Brett in our office has and said it's fantastic. We've also sold a lot of these already and the feedback from our customers is that it works very well. Most have told us that pretty much anything can be painted over it. Take a look: https://www.megahobby.com/search.php?search_query=stynylrez&Search= Alan
  17. Hey everyone, we just rolled out our new loyalty program this morning, Mega Rewards! Rather than spamming the forum with all of the details and fine print, I want to invite everyone to click the picture below and take a look at the program, which gives you points for placing orders and engaging with us on social media. Thanks for all of your continued support, we hope this program gives a little something back to you!
  18. Thanks for the kind words! There are many companies out there (and I'm not trying to start trouble at all, so no names) that intentionally screw their customers by upcharging, making it seem like you're getting a good deal when you're not, dishonesty in how their business is run, etc. My family, for three generations now, has focused on service first, the idea being that if you give good service and are honest with your customers all the time, they will come back. It's why we've been successful for so many years and it's how MegaHobby will always be run. No hidden gimmicks, screwy charges, or anything like that. Just very simple: you want an item, you buy it, we ship it. If there's a problem? We'll fix it. No strings attached. And it makes me very happy to hear that many of you agree -- it's what we strive for every day here. Thank you and everyone for your continued support
  19. Thanks to everyone for the kind words! I look forward to interacting with all of you on the forums.
  20. Not to worry, a consumer asking for a discount is nothing offensive or embarrassing -- I ask for discounts when I shop too! Car modelers aren't "cheap", they're just like every other sect of consumer, looking to save as much money as possible. No grudges be held here
  21. Thanks for the kind words about AAA! We're very proud of it, it's been a constant sight on the White Horse Pike for decades (the big, ugly white building!). And I also appreciate your understanding of our need to keep our online prices reasonable so as not to interfere with local hobby shops -- which we always support first and foremost. Though we do have coupon codes for a few other forums we support, so I've created a coupon code MODELCARSMAG for $5.00 off an order of $50.00 or more -- feel free to use it next time you place an order!
  22. Although that was before my time, the name absolutely rings a bell (from hearing customer names thrown around at the dinner table when I was a kid!). Glad to hear you did business with my father and grandfather, I know they were very grateful for it!
  23. Hi there, I'm Alan Bass, owner of MegaHobby.com. Many of you are familiar with Brett Barrow, our customer service rep and model expert, who is active on the forums and also answers our phones in the office. I wanted to also jump in and introduce myself to everyone and let you know that I'm always here to answer any questions as well and share some tips or anything from our experience in the hobby industry. For some background, I am third generation in the hobby industry -- my grandparents started a hobby distributor in the 1950s, then with my father started Stevens International in 1976, the largest USA importers of specialty hobby items. I joined the industry after graduating college and am thrilled to be a part of it on all levels. My family has experience distributing and importing, along with our retail hobby shop AAA Hobbies that we've had for nearly 40 years, and now have many years of experience with online retail with MegaHobby.com. Great to meet all of you -- be sure to keep in touch!
  24. As a general rule, retailers that ship more than a day or two after getting your order don't actually stock the items you're ordering. Sites like MegaHobby, Sprue Brothers, Squadron, etc., they all have the items in stock and ready to ship. Most other sites show what they are able to get, and then after you order it they then order it from their distributor. So that wait time is the amount of time it takes the retailer to actually obtain the item you've already paid for.
