Time to build the Engine. When building these R Models I always like using my Original instructions I have from the first R model I built back in 1984 although I could probably done it I’m sure without them but I still like to use them. These old instructions to me are more simplified and easy specially pre-1978 when matchbox bought AMT and revamp some of the instructions and in 1980 when they came out with the updated version of the Mack R model and added the round fuel tanks and a chrome package. I appreciate Round2 for bringing these kits back but to me adding all the in-depth things to do in the instructions these days I think makes it more confusing for the modeler. I understand why they do it because the Times we live in today basic fundamentals of building a model went out the window not like how us old model builders did back in the day when we use our brain to build a model.

Was the humidity high just wondering it’s happened to me before even when I think it’s safe -
I like Exhaust port Steve looks convincing especially in this scale.

Thanks for in lighting me on that tiller. The cracking could be anything maybe it was some mold release that was tucked in a corner. I hate stripping resin that’s why I scrub it as clean as I can before I give it a light coat of primer and let it sit for a couple days. Some of these guys use cheap resin that sets up but the oils still comes out. That’s why I give it a very light coat of primer and let it sit. When I had my little Resin casting company (Tired Iron Replicas) in the mid 1990s I always used high quality Resin and Rubber. -

Who’s are you using? I have the old Jim Etter one and I think Kit Form Services is the other. The old 1980 Jim Etter now AITM is a hunk of heavy metal walking beams. Kit Form Services is a little better made with brittle resin. -

Or ICC Boys lol watch out for those white coveralls. 😂 -
I think I may have to cut some off Scott I worked on the frame up till the point of mounting the rear cross piece for the square tanks so I could get a idea with the cab but I have to do some filling and cleaning on it. I don’t know if it’s just my kit or what. I guess I could open the other 11 Mack R model kits I have and hope to find a good one 😂. Or look through my boxes of Mack Parts in the parts department. 😂 Thanks for stopping by.
