  1. The kit requires a Tamiya 1/20 Wolf or Williams for tires, engine and rear suspension along with some smaller parts. The resin was a bit rough but it's the only game in town so I was glad to find it!
  2. Since I had a good bench day yesterday I thought I'd put these up.... I was an intense F1 fan in the 60's-'70s and '80s and when three US based teams went into the fray I was pretty excited! Recently available from Bill Jorgensen are the Shadow DN3 and the Parnelli VPJ1 and I've made a pretty good start on the Shadow. Yesterday was wheels and rear wing day....today I need to get the engine and rear suspension mated up so I can figure out how to mount them to the resin chassis. Reference and inspiration..... I work on a glass cutting board from a kitchen supply store. Smooth, flat and easy to clean between projects.....
  3. Grail score for '06 Airfix 1/12 Bentley Monogram 1/24 Bugatti type 35 AMT 1/25 Penske Cam2 McLaren Jorgensen trans-kits for 1/20 Shadom DN3 and Parnelli VPJ1 Orange House 1/20 March 761 ......and on the military side, a Glencoe 1/74 USN Subchaser. Also had a Pocher 1/8 Fiat given to me....not a grail but very sweet!!
  4. Welcome Aaron! Lots of good folks here with many different styles and tastes, that's why I come in here 4 or 5 times a week. I'm primarily a race car modeller but I need to see what Bill Geary, Ron Hamilton and Izzy are working on once in a while. Can't beat Lyle's rods and customs or Bob Downie's great exotics, and anything by Monoped needs a good look. ...and a note on Billy Kingsley; I've been seeing his builds for years now and it has been great to see a young guy making such great progress. His builds have progressed from rough to wonderful. This hobby needs more guys like him!
  5. $1.63!! Would you take $1.64? Keep cutting Steve, it was made to be built and you've got it looking good so far!

Graet concept! It reminds me of my favorite hearse; the E-type from Harold and Maude
  7. Mood music........ The local '60s and '70s music station for race cars Big band swing for WW2 planes, ships and armor I'm working on an F1 car from the '70s now....so where's my "Grand Prix" movie soundtrack album? I'll have to go find that one. I have a record player in the model room for just these occasions.
  8. Johncock's '89 Indy Lola.......
  9. Jorgensen's transkit to convert a 1/20 Tamiya Wolf to a Shadow DN3
  10. Sweet and sexxxxxxxxxxxxy! I much prefer the curves of "then" to the angles of today. Great build!
  11. Ooh yeah! Looks great with engine in place!
  12. Thanks for the boost Darin. I have a much better camera now but I haven't had time to learn how to use it! I'm hoping for some time to play with it this week end.....
  13. Johncock's ride at Indy in 1989........ Kind of a crappy pic with my old camera. When I get the mirrors and dash on I'll bring out the new camera and try to figure it out.
  14. I hope that thing is real fast so I wouldn't have to look at it for very long! You've heard of cars that look fast even when standing still? Well I think that just might be the opposite.
  15. Funny you posted this I was just looking at my nearly done Indy Lola and wondering if Brian is ever going to finish that 512S........
  16. I've always loved your stuff Ron....it's like seeing some old friends.
  17. It's another "must watch" project! Great work so far.... and inspiration for when I pull mine out of the closet.
  18. You might want to look at Tamiya NATO black. Very dark gray acrylic in their small jars.
  19. What a great way to start my day....an omelet and a slideshow! 8) Thanks Matt!!
  20. too cool! Sorry I had to miss that but I did get some quality bench time in to compensate. I'm off on an Indy car kick. Maybe I'll bring a dozen down next year....
  21. Thanks guys. My wife and I have joined a new church and I recognized the owner of the recently closed Hooterville hobby shop in the congregation. I asked if he still had the paint rack and he said sure. Do you want it? ......give me that old time religion!! I REALLY wanted to be in Atlanta this weekend after missing it last year for some surgery but this year it was my wife's turn for some medical care. Well I won't miss it next year.......
  22. A real honest paint rack...... and on the bench, a return to Indy;
  23. It's good to see you massaging one of the Revll tuner kits. I'm looking forward to see what you can do with it.......and welcome to the forum!
  24. Sorry to hear of your loss..... That color really pops and it don't matter if it's die-cast. It's looking like a nice tribute to your cousin.
  25. Very sweet builds Bill! I've been looking for one but they seem to have disappeared from the bay. I thought I might find one in Atlanta but that didn't work out and I'm stuck here in Hooterville......
