  1. The 71s side markers covered a larger area, so I’m not sure if you could cover them up with a plastic piece. Personally, I just go with a waterslide decal and be careful to position it correctly. Although I suppose they could make some concessions in the body mold to make them interchangeable. I doubt anyone’s going to take out a micrometer to check to see if the size of the side markers are completely accurate ?
  2. Hmm... I could tell you that my parents real life '72 RR had the exact door trim in the picture, which was the same door trim in the 1987 '71 reissue.
  3. WOW! I HAD THAT SUPER CHARGER as a kid!! I completely forgot about that kit!!! COOL!!!
  4. I'm partial to the '71/72 but if you pressed me against a wall, I'd say the '73/74 was a better stylistic balance.
  5. It's the revenge of Virgil Exner! Plus they didn't have much time to be ugly; as soon as you drove one through a snow storm in the northeast, the entire body rotted right off the frame!
  6. Alright, couple of questions: 1. How did you do the chrome moldings around the wheel wells? I always felt that those wheel molding made the car. My parents RR had them. 2. Where did you get the side view mirrors? (If I remember correctly, those kits never came with them, (or at least the '87 reissue didn't) Oh, and... BEAUTIFUL WORK!
  7. Mr. Steve Goldman has kindly Responded to a post I made about re-issuing the 1971/72 Plymouth Road Runner. I am greatly appreciative that he responded. I asked that if you would like to see this model come back, do as he asks and like his post. Basically it’s this: We have this ear. If you want it back, let him know! It probably isn’t worth mentioning, because it is pretty obvious but I’ll say it anyway: I wanted to have a 1/25 scale 1972 Plymouth Road Runner since I was five years. I desperately wanted to make a replica of my parents car. I could never find one in the store, and when I started seeing them on eBay the cost was out of this world to purchase one. The closest I ever came was the 1987 reissue 71 Road Runner but it’s just not the same. As much as I’m embarrassed to admit it, If this car was re-issued and I had it in my hand, I’d probably get a little misty. Actually a lot misty. But don’t tell anyone.
  8. Beautiful job. I love how you got the chrome around the side markers.
  9. Man, late to the party for this post. Was anybody able to ask Steve Goldman why he hates the 71/72 Plymouth Road Runner?
  10. That’s so funny. I have the exact same thing. 87 reissue, with Modelhaus 72 parts and a resin 72 hood. I also have a resin 72 body but the A pillar broke. Grrrrr.
  11. The only rub with doing a 71/72 combo (which I could only hope they do) are the side marker lights. But that could be solved with slide decals.
  12. Like I said, they retool or have made new tooling for these reissue kits all the time. (This coronet is a prime example) but they can’t retool this one? Why is that? I’ve speculated that they just don’t like the car/kit because every other reason doesn’t seem to add up. I think they could re-issue this one they just choose not to. There’s plenty of demand for it. Just look at the old ones on eBay and what they go for. (I get annoyed with the guy who’s been cannibalizing them and selling them piece by piece. That’s just sleazy). Also there’s a hobby shop I visit frequently and the owner always says that people stop by and ask for this one more than any other. And he can’t understand why they don’t just reissue it either. So that’s my story.
  13. I have an original 80s version of the ‘71 Road Runner sitting on my bench. I just can’t get myself to build it though because it is still in the original wrapping and I feel like I would be desecrating it. I know this seems irrational but it’s just how I feel. I would prefer them to just re-issue it. 71, 72 either one (although I would prefer 72) They are tooling up new stuff all the time, they can’t just re-tool this one? They’ve re-issued the 74 Road Runner thousand times so most of the parts are already on the shelf. Anyway, I have ranted and raved about this forever so it’s kind of old news. I’ve reached out repeatedly to them to either ask if it’s coming or formally request it and they never respond. So I’m almost at the point of being resigned to the fact that it is never going to be reissued for what I feel is no good reason.
  14. Ya know, if they can retool this one up from scratch, then there is another one that I wont mention one they can tool up from scratch. Yet they stubbornly wont. ? Hmm… I’m going to write that one down.
  15. Yeah, that 71–72 loop bumper was all his. Long after they ran him out of town.
  16. I dunno, maybe something personable. Like this: I could respect a response like that.
  17. Well, I sure hope they do listen, but I’m skeptical. I’ve sent them multiple emails before requesting the 71-72 RR kit, but the only thing I would get in return would be some boilerplate corporate response: “…Not in our plans, but we will forward your email to the <round file>” Trust me, I have supported them and continue to support them plenty. I just bought two Round 2 kits the other day, not to mention a few Johnny lightning’s as well. They get plenty of my money.
  18. Did that have the aluminum block as well?
  19. Wow, this really was an annual: https://www.ebay.com/itm/134220936334?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5338722076&customid=&toolid=10050 Those reissues really kill the resale value of the originals. BTW how about they reissue this one: (However, even I know the odds are pretty slim so I wouldn’t bang the door down for it) I had the original release! I’m pretty sure that was a Johan release. Who has the rights to that tooling?
  20. I remember I used to look out of the passenger side window of my mother’s ‘72 Road Runner and sneer at those Volare Road Runners; called them “Road Fakers”. Now if I came across one that was in good shape - especially a 1980 Volare Road Runner - I’d probably buy it. Drop a 340 in it out of a 70-71 Duster, with a four speed. That would be a pretty good little car.
  21. What can I say? I’m committed to the cause. My username checks out. So there actually was a 1980 Volare annual? I know there’s that 1977 Volare I’ve seen here and there, and the 1976 Road Runner model was actually the 1975 Road Runner. But for the life of me, I could never find the 1980, hence why I was taken aback when I saw Round2 to release the Fuzz Duster. I didn’t think a 1980 annual existed. BTW, in this case it’s also the only time someone confused a Duster with a Road Runner! (There was also a duster package for the Volare if I’m not mistaken.)
  22. I did too! Guilty as charged. That kit was so goofy I just had to buy it! Plus I like that style of Volare. I have to give Round 2 credit where credit is due; that was a pretty cool kit. I just remember seeing it released and thinking, “Where the hell did that come from?!”
  23. Obviously I can only directly speak for myself, but if you comb through this forum you get the sense that many people have been clamoring for this kit for a lot longer than the three year lead up period and I’ve been asking them (Round 2) even longer than that; not that I ever expected them to make their decision based on my request and the requests of others. Tone deaf companies generally don’t do that. I don’t know. Given the desire of their clientele, it seems like releasing this kit would be a no-brainer. If they are not going release it though, why would they bother releasing the 74 Road Runner for the thousandth time and that oddball 1980 Volare Road Runner that came out of nowhere. Just doesn’t add up. The only reason why they wouldn’t is because they really don’t want to.
  24. Sure! Who doesn’t need one? Honestly, I’ve wanted one since I was five and to be honest I didn’t even know this kit existed until I was in my 20s. (I knew about the 71 reissue in the early 90s. I had a few of those when I was a kid) If they finally re-issued ‘72 I’d probably buy about 10 of them. I know that originals can be found here and there, but I can’t justify paying 200 to 300 some odd dollars for a model kit. Hence, they should just re-issue the damn thing. Seems like they re-issued just about everything else. It wouldn’t be hard. They already have the majority of the pieces from the 74 kit Instead, they keep beating that ‘74 Road Runner into the ground. It was cool when they reissued that one the first 10 times. There’s also that 1980 Volare Road Runner kit that came out of nowhere. Where’d they get the tooling for that one? And yet, they stubbornly refuse to re-issue that 71–72 kit.
  25. Round 2 corp’s biggest excuse for not reassuring the 71–72 MPC Plymouth Road Runner kit Is that sometime along the way the tooling was damaged, there’s nothing they can do about it and they can’t retool the missing pieces https://www.round2corp.com/new-tooling/#MK Scroll down to the new models. Round 2 tools new stuff all the time I don’t understand it. I was talking to the owner of a hobby store in Barre, Vermont (of all places). We talked about the 71–72 MPC Plymouth Road Runner kit. He told me flat out that kit is hot and everyone comes in the store looking for it. And he himself can’t understand why they don’t just re-tool the damaged parts and re-issue it (Especially when it’s obvious they tool new stuff all the time). And so, I have to ask: What is your problem with this kit Round 2?! Seriously, tell me, what is your problem with this kit? Does somebody at corporate just not like it? Tooling damaged? So what? Can’t use that excuse. You guys are tooling up new stuff all the time, yet you can’t tool up a few new parts for a kit where you already have 75% of the components? Really?! Unbelievable. Well, I guess you can just re-issue the 74 Road Runner kit again for the umpteenth time. Put it in a brand new fancy metal box or something. Why not? Nice and easy.
