  1. yeah i was real disappointed when it happened. My girlfriend cried about it. She felt pretty bad. This was a few firsts for me and she knew that. I had to remind her that it was only plastic and I can get another. I'l see where this body work goes and decide from there.
  2. Little bit of surgery left and build back on. Definitely need to sand it out and use some putty. Which is fine because I've decided since it's left hand drive, I shaved the side marker lights off. Happy that it was just the panel behind the t-top, the opposite side windshield pillar, the windhield cowl, and the nose cone on both sides and the lower middle.... everything so far has gone back together pretty ok... the drivers side of the nose wouldn't bond to save a life. I kept having to use a little bit more ca glue. It'd stay together for a minute then come apart.... I finally got it to stay but it made a good sized ridge of melted glue/plastic. Been a long time since I've had a car stomped on. Brings back memories of putting models where they don' belong and forgetting they'e there until they'e crunching under your feet. Or thinking I had my paint situation under control and then knocking the paint over.... how nostalgic lol
  3. Well I might be able to doctor it up... We'll see how surgery goes.
  4. Well.... Theres the end of this project...for now........ my girlfriend completely destroyed the car by stepping on it. luckily it was only the body and not the whole car. so i guess its shelved untill i buy another kit so ill have a body again. i guess look out for fairlady take 2 coming soon.... sorry guys. guess i need a better work space too...
  5. So I just found this...... kind of looks like the greenish color I made...
  6. this darker brass color w/transpared black over it.
  7. they do look similar to these, tho mine are 5 star mags. I think mine are enkei. Tho I maybe wrong. And I meant "smoked" in the sense of using transparent black over brass/blk met mix. I originally painted... I'll just show ya... keep in mind it'll be cleaner than this.... but you'll get the idea. Black from one angle but the regular color straight on..... I feel like i should call this thing the illusionist. Lol
  8. so if I do the "colorshift" it'll still be green but it'll have blue overtones. Did you see the '91 trans am I just did Jer? But anyways I do like green too, but it' got to be the right green. I do love a good blue tho. But I feel like i paint a lot of blue cars.
  9. Think I'm scrapping the paint idea I had earlier. I was going to do a pearl blue color with a offset double stop light red metallic stripe up and over. The inner strip was to be smaller than the outter. Now I think I'm going to go irredescent green/blue with smoked brass wheels with either off white/cream and black interior or black and tan. If I go with the green color without the irredescent I'll prob go blk/tan.... If I throw the color shift clear coat on I'll probably go with offwht/blk interior. Let me know you guys think. The color shift clear is on the right. The non colored clear coated is on the left. I'll post more on flickr.
  10. i know how this feels to the t. Or that one that looks real nice. But you know there's that one thing about it that you did that you're not proud of and wished you had done differently about it.
  11. I hate masking. I'e gotten pretty good at it but it is super tedious and therefore time consuming. Lately I've been trying out liquid mask to some success. I haven't tried it on large areas yet tho. If you look at my gt500 I did the ground effects with liquid mask. It left a pretty decent edge. I brushed on like five or so coats letting each one dry before the next. Then with a brand new razor I lightly scored where I wanted my edge to be. Then peel up the mask you don' want. It won't hurt the paint underneath.
  12. thanks! Wish I had more hours in the day. Between working in a machine shop, running the daily errands, home life, and a lot of r&d on the flavor of the week...i need like 72 second minutes vs the real life 60. I think I'll be happier to post pics on Flickr vs worry about how much space I have left on here. Going to attack it some more on sat. More pics when I can!
  13. thanks it's on its way!
  14. thanks! Like i said not much yet but it's going to come together nicely.
  15. Like I said it isn't much yet. Just been busy. And I don' want to just throw this one together like my others. Here's the link to my Flickr.... bear with me.... this might not load right the first time.... https://flic.kr/s/aHsm9F6GhF
  16. Haven't been able to do much to the fairlady lately. Been doing a whole lot of piecing things together and brain storming. Did upload some pics to my Flickr account tho. I'l post the link shortly. I also have some other albums of builds I've made.
  17. Digging this. I too want to do this but am a little unsure of how I want to do my front suspension.
  18. yea that's the pe kit I got too
  19. coming soon.
  20. nice! Thanks for that!
  21. So I haven't been building a whole lot the past couple of days. I just did some refreshing to a 93 civic I've had on the shelf for a hot minute. I built it probably 14 years ago. It' one of my survivors. I pulled it off the shelf to clean it and decided I needed to pull off the red decals that represented the center color of the seats. Furthermore I had to clear it and paint the window trim around the window and door. I left it body colored before. I decided to go gray for the second interior color and will have yellow detailing. Anyways now that thats back on the shelf for the time being.... I'm going to work on the lady. I've primed her up. I'l be brainstorming a paint idea on the primer. I already have the offset stripes up and over. I've done the intake and exaust in bright silver. Almost like polished aluminum. On a seperate note... I've started a Flickr acct. I'l be posting all of my builds in folders by car on their site. M.C.M. doesn't have enough space and I have to delete things all the time. I'll post the link for my page as I update. Thanks for looking. Pics soon!
  22. most revell and amt kits are also simple like that. Some are more involved. But for the most part that's their platform. No steering. Most of them don't have brakes to speak of. And a lot of them have not so great tire and wheel sets. But still I build a bunch of them lol
  23. Your windows look much better! I miss this kit. I did mine yellow. I like your color choice! Looks nice
