  1. Is that the one at the Macomb Warren campus on 12 mile?
  2. Cool beans! Thanks fellas. Hope to make it soon.
  3. That's great! Any specific dates/ times/ locations? Or just point me in right direction and I will try and look it up
  4. That's fantastic! I was just gonna inquire if there were any gatherings in the area. Thanks for the info.
  5. Essentially finished the hood. Body is back in booth for some wet sanding and some clear coat. After a bad paint mishap, had to submerge in purple power for a while and start all over. I didn't do the best masking job, which leads me to this: While I love what BMF brings to the table and looks wise, I very much !@#$%^& dislike applying it. So the rear trim piece is a bit of smoke and mirrors.
  6. Thanks Ron. Nothin saying we can't back date it. It's our projects and I'm sure a 70 may have snuck in there somewhere. Will be doing another one right after this for my uncle who was Chicago PD, when they were blue and white. He swears he had a 1970 galaxie 500 for his scout car even though I can't find any info to suggest they had them. But hey, it's his story, I'm just trying to do something cool for him.
  7. thanks Jonah. I used Testors model master in Israeli armor sand, added some black wash then dry brushed with Tamiya dark yellow. I used regular brown for wood grain and the black wash again to create some swirls in wood to emulate real wood.
  8. Jeff There is quite a bit of neat information on that (Maroon Cruisers.com) site. Very informative and even lists the year they went to the Maroon to include original paint code. Very helpful
  9. In 69 and 70, when getting up to high speeds, there was some structural integrity issues in the hood latch construction that led Ford to issuing hood pin kits to the department to prevent them from flying off. Plus began working on the bi directional stop sign for hood.
  10. Did manage to get interior done a bit. Had to fabricate the shifter and turn signal as well as use could wire for the radio and handheld spotlight.
  11. Once again, thanks for the ad. As a disclaimer, my focus is mainly on building cop cars and emergency type vehicles. Everyone has their niche and that happens to be mine. Enough of that. Stared at this kit for a few months and couldn't decide what agency I wanted it to be. Finally, after some google searching, I decided it's gonna end up a Minnesota state patrol car. So I did some digging and found they used Furys in 70 but did use Ford custom 500's in 69. We'll, the 70 is gonna have to work after seeing that Maroon color. I wasn't getting terribly specific about the engine. Apparently the kit doesn't come with the correct one, so I may bend a little truth on that and just generalize it as a 390. Bottom line is that I just don't see a lot of Minn State Patrol cars being done and this is my attempt.
  12. That looks fantastic! Always dug those jager paint schemes.
  13. Thanks for the wonderful tips. Collectively, we all have tweaks and tips to share that may benefit others. Personally, I have learned quite a bit from the board and am grateful.
  14. For the antennas, on the bases I cut a piece off of the leftover trees from model kits then drill a small hole. Or I use the backings to earrings. You can pick a package up at any craft store for like 2 bucks. For the actual antenna, I use acupuncture needles I get on eBay. They work perfect. For some antenna I use the bristle from a girls hair brush and you can get those all day at any dollar store.
  15. Thanks for the tip. Will give it a shot.
  16. I use old tree parts or whatever I can get ahold of to make it as close to the real thing
  17. Did this over summer. Started as all black. Stripped and painted in MSP blue. Scratch built radar units and laptop. Hopefully video link shows up https://youtu.be/htQf_J9lyJc
  18. i do a lot of business with Jeff from policecarmodels.com. He carries quite a bit and has the single red bubble light. Also Dave Panek does excellent light bars and kits. Dont have a website for him but he is on facebook
  19. Nice one! I totally understand
  20. now I remember Jeff. I poached those push bar lights to do an Oakland County Tahoe and the PS spotlight just popped off. Gonna do a Southfield charger soon
  21. Good call brother. Next one
  22. Just a tradition they never let go of. Will have to ask my trooper buddies
