  1. I wish I could make my own as well I have a number of projects that I doubt that will ever be done by the aftermarket, I just don't have the computer skills to pull it off! But again Mark nice job ,Rick!
  2. As much as a his kit might not be very accurate, most race car kits regardless of type tend not to be accurate as per specific prototypes, it take a modeller not a kit builder to make them that way . As modellers we are the ones who slice and dice and kitbash to make them real. I do agree that we are the market that the model manufacturers are targeting and they should be trying to put out the best product that's possible but economics I think are the biggest hindrance to seeing all new kits! Keep em coming guys!
  3. I agree with many of the kits everyone has suggested, as for the Duck's truck why not , you do get some usable Duck parts,a nice DM600, and best of all bring a lot of the kit dealers on evil bay back to reality!
  4. I have never been in agreement with so many different opinions on one subject as I am on this one. I must say that the biggest problem with so many of the kits that are coming out is the fact that as we get older and gain more knowledge we get more and more critical and fussy of the most minute details! I will use the Petty Charger 1/16 kit as an example , out of the box it builds up into an exceptional looking model but to make it accurate you would have to throw out half of the kit , yet so many are getting built with most happy and satisfied with the results! As much as this one might be a huge compromise I will buy it anyway, and besides with Prudhomme decals already in the box you won't have to look hard for unobtanium to finish the project. Try that with most Prudhomme projects.
  5. Fabulous build, I bought one of those kits and have been curious about how it will go together! I like the colour choices, gives me the itch to start it but my problem is the itch part , I have too many projects that are because of the itch! My KW road train needs to be finished first before I start anything else! Again great job , Rick.
  6. Great build! I've been wanting to do this car myself but haven't been able to find the decals, did you make your own ?
  7. I agree the collectors will be mad with the reissues of these two but bring em on ! The real value of any of these kits is building them ! I am looking forward to building a few of the Petty haulers with fictional Petty Ford race cars that he could have raced had he stayed with Ford!
  8. The way Round 2 continues to reissue thought to be long gone kits I would not be surprised to see the mixer return! A common misconception was that AMT swapped out the torsion bar suspension when they issued the mixer but it was just such a problematic suspension to build, its taken me a couple of tries to get it right, a couple of tweaks with a couple of parts and it does go together well!

  10. I like that you are doing what I have in the planning stages! I have my Australian K100 on the workbench to finish first! If you are striving for total accuracy on the cab you will need to remove the raised center portion of the roof and add individual platforms for the marker lights as they are on the outside of the stock roof panel ! And to go even further, remove the rivets and panel line in the middle of the roof and move that forward to approximately an eighth of an inch behind the marker light stantions. I'm watching this build!! Good job so far!
  11. This has been up for a while but does anyone know if this truck ran duel air cleaners and what engine was in the truck ? I plan on doing this build!
  12. Round2's web page indicates that the sleeper box and battery box have been retooled. Also the decal sheet has been revised to include optional numbers for the tractor and the full paint stripes , just paint the roof red and the rest white and it's done !
  13. This is a very thought provoking topic. I have been building plastic models for over 50 years so I would go as far as to say that I am accomplished but by no means does it mean I know it all! I am constantly learning new things from experimenting and looking at the work of others, as I have gleaned a lot from this forum and others. I am my own worst critic but I would never criticize the work of others! Having been building for as long as I have I have developed a skill set that allows me to build anything I set my mind to , but with some limitations, good reference or materials etc. I still have to say that it's up to others as to what type of builder I am. I like to learn something new everyday, if you don't then you are either very arrogant or 6 feet under ground! Back on to my Road Train Kenny that this forum has inspired me to build!
  14. I just heard back from Doug at Round 2 rear suspension will be the walking beam .
  15. Nice to have fresh Watkin's markings to work with! Lots of old KW projects in the brain for this one including a narrow nose 63 debut of W series! Bring on the mixer Round 2!!!
  16. Let's hope this kit does well and maybe we will see more 2 in 1 truck kits , how about a Peterbilt 352/359 combo. Kenworth w925 /k125 combo or even Ford LN/LNT truck/tractor/dump&plow ! There's a lot of possibilities. Boogity Boogity Boogity boys let's fill those parts boxes!!
  17. I forgot to add , monkey motion rear suspension was available to at least 67-68 but was seldom ordered by that time, actually twin stick transmissions were already becoming uncommon.
  18. I have posted this on another page but the upcoming Kenworth W923-925 will not be in Movin' On packaging , that was confirmed by Doug over at Round 2. Not that that will be a concern to us since the Sonny truck could not be built out of the box to duplicate the TV truck anyway! I had forgot to ask him about the torsion bar suspension, once you've built one they're not that difficult to get right! I've just finished one that I lucked out on, I bought a Movin' On kit that turned out to be an original T519 Watkins kit in disguise. The torsion bar suspension is very finicky and the mounting points on the bars for the front drive are made too far apart. But if Round 2 retools that suspension it will be most welcomed by us truck builders since it was found under a lot of Kenworths from the 50's to the late 70's. Regardless of configuration it will be nice to have that kit available again at a good price!!!
  19. Hello everyone , I am a long time builder of various cars and trucks. As you can tell by my tag line I am a huge Richard Petty fan and a big Kenworth truck enthusiast. I got my first kit in 1966 and have been building ever since, although the first one I had very little hands on with . I've always had a strong interest in cars but a gift of a Kenworth kit in 1973 got me heavy into trucks, which I have just gotten back into. On the bench is the beginning of a K125 Kenworth Australian Road Train, with 4 tanker trailers in double B con figuration. I will do all the right hand drive conversions first, then start the main build which is based on a very early second issue kit. I have a lot of builds planned including many of Petty's race cars as well as Mopar replica stocks and as many Daytona 500 winners as I can . Various Kenworth and other big rig are also on the horizon so stay tuned and feel free to ask me anything, I've been around a long time and have built up a vast amount knowledge on a lot of these subjects! But you never stop learning! If you do you are either very arrogant or 6 feet under the ground! Rick in the great white north.
  20. New to the forum, this my first reply on a subject . I received an email from Round2 confirming the reissue of the Kenworth W925, it will not be reissued as the Movin' On kit , I do not know what the box art will be, I would speculate that it would be the Watkins art or something close ! Stay tuned!
