  1. Great idea. Wish I had thought of that lol.
  2. Thanks for the comments. Definitely recommend carbon fibre decals if you build this. Regret not learning how to do earlier.
  3. Great paint work!
  4. Nice. So much storage space. Awesome
  5. Hi everyone thought I'd post a photo of my converted bookshelf. Now that I've finished uni I didn't need so much space for my notes. The nice thing about this set up is that the perspex (3 separate pieces) is cut flush with the edges so no dust manages to get in. Next step will be perspex shelves in between the existing ones and then perhaps LED strips. Advantage is also needing a screwdriver/drill to "open it" so its childproof (except fingerprints) Michael
  6. Got lazy with photos on this one so not too many WIP pics. Original Thread: Here's the finished product: It was a great kit. Only after starting a couple more have I realised how basic other kits can be. I really wish I had more experience before starting this one. I may even do another one in the future. Feedback encouraged. Cheers
  7. Thanks for the replies. I think I'll just have to try some different paints (only ever used tamiya but have realised now better paints exist for brushing). I like the ideas of putty and BMF but again the space would be too small to do accurately in this model.
  8. Hi I'm currently working on a tamiya Rx7. I've just started using Alclads paints and would love to use these on the transmission but its moulded to undercarriage. Has anyone got tips on how to paint these? I'm tempted to try liquid masking but I don't think I will be able to control in the narrow spaces. Alternatively what paints do people use to brush paint these? I'm pretty new to this but keen to learn. Cheers
  9. Great to know. I'll be studying your WIP as I go along.
  10. Welp. Screwed the bonnet. Don't clamp day old clear. Wait for the full cure lol
  11. Hi there, I'm in the process of building the Tamiya Porsche Carrera Gt and I'm using the Scale Motorsport PE parts. Now my problem is the suspension. I cant really figure out how it assembles. I've studied the instructions yet they don't really make sense. Has anyone completed the model with these parts? If so could I get a photo please (I don't want to cut the parts up unless I can figure this out). Its really the only thing holding up my build. Its ready to assemble otherwise. Cheers, Michael
  12. Nice work. Got this one one its way with a body kit too. Any parts to be careful around? Cheers
  13. Beautifully polished
  14. Here's a model I started in 2013. Due to time constraints with university and work etc I had this one set aside for a couple of years lol. Finally getting to finish it. Its a standard Tamiya build using strictly Tamiya products (acrylics for interiors, rattlecans for body). Having worked on the Tamiya Porsche Carrera GT recently I realise it is a stark contrast in quality. Using better products truly does achieve better results. Anyway here we go: Michael
  15. Yeah that comes down to finally starting a job lol. Bought a camera, macro lens and tripod. No more poor university life.
  16. I will add for anyone who is gonna try carbon decals for the first time. Get a heat gun and decal solutions straight away! Don't think they are optional extras. I ruined a few decals thinking it wasn't necessary.
  17. First time posting here. Finally had money to buy a real airbrush and a few goodies to build a halfway decent model. Trying out a lot of new materials and techniques on this build for the very first time. The list includes: - Gunze paints + Alclads paints - Clear coats and polishing - Carbon decals - Wiring for spark plugs - Photoetched parts I really like the way this one is turning out so far. Lots of silly mistakes but that came from being too lazy to test out the products for the first time before using them . Any criticism is encouraged. Build consists of: - Tamiya Porsche Carrera GT 1/24 - Scale Motorsport photoetched parts and carbon decals (some Hobby Design carbon was also used) - Wiring for spark plugs - Some random Hobby Design bolts/nuts thrown in Cheers, Michael
  18. Hi there, Just joined the forum. Name is Michael. Finally got some time to get building. Haven't completed too many projects with the right tools however I finally started working (uni for far too long) and can afford this hobby now! Cheers, Michael
