  1. From the 1979 Peterbilt Conventionals brochure. For some reason, this truck has 2 air cleaner hoses sticking out instead of 1. What's up with that? I've seen 359s with dual air cleaners, but never a 359 with two air cleaner hoses! (P.S., Check out the groovy paint job!) http://images102.fotki.com/v398/fileiMcs/6...eConv197906.jpg
  2. Really? Well, I hope they consider re-issuing the Kenworth Alaskan Hauler.
  3. Does anyone know if there are/were any model kits of the 1973-1980 Chevy/GMC full-size pickup trucks (e.g., Custom Deluxe, Sierra, etc...)?
  4. It turns out that they're reissuing the AMT Mack Cruise-Liner cabover, but there's no release date yet. See this link: http://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thscale/kit-news/
  5. I think it's a model because there's a little spot near the front bumper where the guy forgot to Photoshop the edge of the surface of whatever the car was standing on so it blended in with the road. Take a good look & you'll see what I mean.
  6. OK, I no longer care about the exact date as I put a deposit on it today, so I'll be notified when it's in stock. I wonder if Tim's planning on getting one...
  7. OK, I'll make a note of this. Thanks for the tip, guys!
  8. The end of October!?!??!?!?!? Are you serious!? Which forum did you read this in? As for Ebay, I have seen a few there, but none in good, unbuilt condition. Plus, they're pretty hard to find on Ebay, which is why I'm so keen to get a re-issued one.
  9. Well, late September has come and gone, and guess what? No Autocar A64B yet. I suspect it'll arrive this week sometime.
  10. WHOA!!! That thing is so awesome! Where'd you get the wheels & tires for it?
  11. Hey, I saw this truck (well, two actually) on your website! Great job! Only one question: Why two of them?
  12. I came to this forum because I had some questions about certain kits & the real things, and I figured that the people here could give me some answers. Also, I figured that since I'd been building models since December 2005 (I built some snap-together models before that, but not on a regular basis), it was about time I joined a model car/truck forum.
  13. Thanks! I was wondering when these kits were introduced!
  14. There are also some instances of Engrish in the instructions, but nothing overly wrong.
  15. Shotgun & radio? Yes. Police dog? No, but you could get an aftermarket one if you wanted. It also comes with a revolver to put on the dashboard. Also, no engine, but there's a motor for certain issues of these kits (see below). Motor requires 1 AA battery. There are also two types of box art for the kits. One is a painting of the car, has no motor, & is probably older (like the kit shown above); while the other has a photo of the assembled model along with some life-size police stuff (badge, gun, etc...), has a motor, & is probably newer. The kits with the second type of box art come with two grilles (Dodge & Plymouth), both types of lightbar, & two taillight designs. My LAPD kit said "Dodge Monaco" on the box, but I made it a Plymouth Fury instead. As for the price, it cost me $25, likely because these kits are relatively uncommon & so enigmatic. However, if you're looking for a kit of a '77-'78 Dodge Monaco/Plymouth Fury, look no further than these kits. You can also make cars of other agencies by getting some decals from either www.jbot.ca or www.chimneyvilledecals.com (you can also get lightbars & other police car parts from the second website).
  16. Oh really? Never heard of that before. Trouble is, hornets will probably mistake it for a nest as well.
  17. I think it's a model. There's something about it that says "fake" to me, but I can't exactly point out what...
  18. What about modifying the fenders from the Kenworth Alaskan Hauler kit? Would that work well?
  19. Anyone ever hear of the Yodel American Police series models? They're models of '77-'78 Dodge Monaco/Plymouth Fury police cars made by some Japanese model manufacturer named Yodel. I have no idea how old they are & I haven't seen anything about them outside of Ebay. Sometimes, they have a motor available, & the bodies are sometimes pre-painted. There are 5 known kits in the series: -California Highway Patrol -New York City Police Department -Los Angeles Police Department -San Diego County Sheriff's Department -New York/New Jersey Port Authority I have the LAPD kit, and it's pretty accurate except the grille & tail lights are too deep, and there are some minor inaccuracies with the 2 types of lightbars included (dual beacons on a rack & wedge lightbars are included). I'd post pictures of my model here, but I'm missing some decals for it. Here's an example of an unassembled CHP kit: If anyone knows any more about these kits and/or has any opinion about them, please tell me!
  20. OK, thanks! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find 353 fenders at Spaulding Trading & Shipping's website. Have they been discontinued or something?
  21. Well, that still doesn't help me, but I suspect it'll be released sometime later this week or next week. Thanks for trying, anyways.
  22. Hey, at some point in the future, I plan on building a Peterbilt 353. Aside from the fenders, what other modifications would I need to make to a 359 kit? Here's a picture of a 353 (from Tim's website): Or, what if I wanted to step up to a 387? No, not the new aerodynamic conventional. There was a prior truck with the designation 387. It was a super heavy-duty conventional built for duties like coal hauling & such. Here's a picture (also from Tim's website): Any help would be appreciated, especially from Tim, since he's a major Peterbilt fan.
  23. I have a first-issue Chevy Titan 90 kit and an AMT-Ertl American Lafrance pumper, both with 8V71 Detroit diesels (though some parts are slightly different for both engines). I painted both engines silver because that's what it showed on the Chevy Titan's box. Oops. I have a 359 kit in progress, and I painted the Cummins engine gray. I chose this color because I thought I saw a gray one in a a GMC Astro brochure (see http://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thsca...tro1972-13.html. However, it appears I'm wrong.
  24. Wow! I've never seen an Astro/Titan built as a fire truck before! Keep up the good work!
