  1. Agreed, but every time he mentions using the angle grinder my head feels like it's going to implode.
  2. Check your person. Your pockets, your waistband, your shoes. Gluing a small part a while back, I dropped it and it just friggin' disappeared. Like it never was. Four people searching for this part for an hour. Nothing. Did the old vacuum trick with a piece of stocking inline. Nothing. Found it the next morning glued to the top my shoe. I have yet to live that one down at home.
  3. This looked difficult to me to get rid of without destroying adjacent molded detail. Apparently I'm incorrect.
  4. That's some serious kitbashing. Fantastic work.
  5. Wow. Some very impressive work guys. Based on what I'm seeing on the completed builds thread and here, we will have a very tight race.
  6. Very nice. I did a pickup bed trailer a few years ago for my shop truck that I enjoyed very much.
  7. Be glad you don't build aircraft. I pulled this off Facebook today. One very irritated builder.
  8. Tim Hunter, what's your ruling on this?
  9. Sorry man, if it's based on 40 year old molds, you gotta expect that kind of quality. You can't compare the new Revell releases with the old stuff. And frankly, if you are looking for an easy hobby, this ain't it.
  10. We got some coupe pickups from Chevy back in the thirties, but they are about as rare as hens teeth. They probably didn't sell very well.
  11. T-MINUS 8 days until deadline!!!! We have only four racers currently in the finished builds thread, here - http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=95573# Get it done and get it posted!
  12. Man, I'm right there with ya. There's been a project I've been kicking around for a long while, that popped into my head when Fred suggested this. At a swap meet recently, the perfect kit dropped into my lap for it. I can't wait. Dennis, these Cannonballers are the best group of builders on the web. Ask for help, you'll get it. As for an opinion, you'll get it. We'll be glad to have you.
  13. I think he's referring to any modern centrifugal supercharger. Paxton, McCollough, etc.
  14. Casey, thanks for merging the threads. I'd forgotten I'd asked this before. Yes, 1/25. I'd be very interested in those parts if they fit the AMT kit, Snake. Fortunately the client has added a cowl hood. Unfortunately, I have the non-SS bumpers/grill to deal with. I'm thinking about just sanding down the rear bumper and try to rechrome with some BMF.
  15. Has anyone cast some non-SS parts for the AMT 70 Chevelle?
  16. The wash, if used right, isn't to make the car dirty. Certainly my bottom pic doesn't look dirty, but rather to make the paint separations look more like something that happened over time naturally , rather than something done on purpose. Use craft acrylics thinned with tap water. If you don't like how it looks you can wipe it off with a damp towel. It will also get into the door lines, window trim and make them look more realistic. Oh, and I like the top grill better than the others.
  17. I'd recommend a couple of washes. It will get into the rough areas and give it a more weathered look. From this To this
  18. Thanks very much for the input guys. I feel much better about my upcoming project now. I've always appreciated how much 1:1 experience and knowledge is on this forum.
  19. Wow. That is very impressive. Well done sir.
  20. Man, I don't know anyone who does good paint jobs without spray cans or airbrushing. I have a paint booth now but for decades a cardboard box in the driveway was my painting location.
  21. Yes, but just for kitbashing purposes.
  22. Well, I'll be starting my next Cannonball racer, a sleeper. Then catching up some more in progress builds.
