  1. Very nice work, Radames!! BTW, you don't have to limit your posts to 3 pics.
  2. I keep telling you, don't mess around with a pregnant woman...especially one that's already tending to a toddler. That's just plain dangerous! You'd be better off swiming with a pack of hungry sharks!
  3. Thanks for the compliments, guys! I gave it to Jerry yesterday afternoon. He was pretty tired from wrestling with his 1:1 hotrod all morning, but it got a smile out of him!

Very nice, Cal!! A few splashes of mud and it'll look right at home!!
  5. Looking good, Milt! By the time we all get together next month, you'll be teaching the rest of us!
  6. Personally, I like the top of the bed to be no higher than the beltline of the body...and you're just about there... You could cut out and raise the floor of the bed to get it a bit lower, but I wouldn't go too far... The only other thing I'd do now would be to cut the front of the frame rails so that they're pointing forward again.
  7. Now you're gettin' down there!! You gotta get 'em low enough to make the snails scared! You know, put a rotary blade up under the cab and "mow the lawn way down close" kind of low.
  8. Thanks, Bernard! The kit is actually done as a street rod with a louvered hood and tailgate, a "custom" interior and a hot rod engine. That's where the three Strombergs came from. There are no parts in the box to build a stock truck. The door panel on the driver's side is the "custom" piece from the kit, except for the PE handles. For the passenger side, I removed the molded in upholstery to make it look like a stock panel.
  9. Thanks, Nick! It' suppose to look like a severly neglected old hotrod. That's why I went with the old Crager style wheels instead of some stock steelies. The interior is actually pretty dirty, it just doesn't show well in the pics. Do I get credit for the "dirty" magazine on the floor? (The one under the Hop Up magazine).
  10. Yeah, I know that this one probably belongs on the diorama thread, but the friend that I built it for would probably not find it if I posted it there. At a recent model show I realized that all of my close friends had at least one of my backyard or roadside dioramas in their collection, except for Jerry Cardinal. For those of you that have seen Jerry's models, you know that just any old glue bomb from me wasn't going to make the grade. Jerry's been talking for months about wanting to get another 1:1 hotrod, probably a '40 Ford pickup. Well Jerry, I can't afford the 1:1 '40 pickup for you, so here's something in miniature for you to look at until you find the truck you want. It looks like this one needs a little bodywork before it's ready for the show circuit. What's an old truck without a junkyard door? And there's nothing better than an old blue shop rag for a gas cap... Nice upholstery, Jerry...under all that dirt and grime... Yes, the pliars are there on the dash to roll down the window and to open the door. Window and door handles for a '40 Ford must be getting hard to come by. What magazines did Jerry leave on the floor for us to read this time??? Looks like this old rat was once the hottest thing in town with those three Strombergs! Well Jerry, I hope that you enjoy adding this one to your collection as much as I did building it for you. Regards,
  11. It's hard to tell from these pics, Mike. I would get the front of the cab down on the frame rails where it belongs, tape the radiator shell in place and see how that looks. Can you drop the spring a bit lower? It looks like there's still a lot of room between the spring and the frame rails.
  12. Nice job, Milt. Like Walt said, not every model has to be super detailed to be ejoyable to build and to look good. That's the funny thing about the red '57 Chevy Cameo/Vette pickup that I built. If you look at it closely you'll see that there really is very little detail built in it. It was just a clean build of a styling exercise I did that a lot of people liked. Keep up the good work,
  13. Yeah, Mike...I think that'll help a lot. Anything you can do to get the front down lower will help. It's hard to tell from the pics, but you might also try to remove the front crossbar and turn it over. That, and maybe slot it to allow the axle to move higher up into it, should help. You may also need to rework the front axle to get it to drop down a bit more. Good luck!
  14. Looking good, Kenny!!
  15. I like wheel #3!! What chassis are you going to put under that bohemoth?!
  16. Alright Milt!! Is that one of the kits that your grandchildren got for you?
  17. I'd have to agree with John on this one. I think that those wheels might look a bit too tall...or...it could be that the front axle still needs to drop a bit more. The frame still looks to high in the front with respect to the center of the wheel. If you cut the steel rod and only use it on the ends to hold the wheels in position, you should be able to get the front axle down a bit lower. Keep going, Mike. You'll get there. No one said that these things are easy!
  18. How's Sunday, April 6th, 13th or 20th work for everyone? Those are the days that Curt and I are available. I'll check with Jerry, but those days should be good with him, too. If you're interested, and I don't already have your email address, please send me a PM with your email address so we can coordinate this offline. Thanks,
  19. Welcome!! Now it's time to post some pics!!
  20. Very nice!! That is one of my all time favorite Ferraris!! Thanks for sharing!
  21. Lookin' good, Mike!! Keep up the good work and the posts!!
  22. Marcos is correct. The Tamiya acrylic spray is also better than the Testors enamel and comes in a red that should look close to what you want.
  23. Testors makes an "Italian Red" in a spray lacquer. It's one of their earlier two-part lacquer products, so you'll need to use the clear, too. Trust me on this one, use the clear. I've sprayed a lot of the models with this stuff. If you simply follow the instructions on the can, you'll get a great paint job. Regards,
  24. Rudy, The best Stromberg 97 carbs I've seen are offered by ModelCarGarage: http://www.modelcargarage.com/ http://www.modelcargarage.com/store/pc/vie...p;idproduct=250 All of their other stuff is pretty good, too. Regards,
  25. Aaron, Send me a PM with your email address and we'll work out the details. Later,
