  1. Very nice work, James!! Given the right background and photography, it would be hard to distinguish it from a 1:1.
  2. So, Clay and his wife went to Georgia for the day on a shopping trip...did she let him in the van with his X-Acto or did she have the metal detector setup before he got in?
  3. Very nice, Lyle!! What's pushing all that rubber along? (I can't tell from the angle if the plate says "HOTHEMI" or "NOTHEMI").
  4. Yeah...if you can post more pics of her then we won't care how good or bad your models are...we'll ALWAYS look and leave a great response!!
  5. I'll second that!! Excellent detail work in the engine bay!!
  6. That's too funny!! Great job on the weathering and aging!!
  7. It looks like a mid-eighties Chevy TPI engine...but then what do I know?
  8. Another great looking race car, Brendan!!
  9. I'll second that!! Very nice work!!
  10. Hey Curt and Clay...I say we start a salt flat Stude only build-off! I'm in! I've got an Avanti kit! Bernard...you willing to jump in on this one?
  11. I don't know Bill...normally I would agree with you, but I've had real good luck with the new Testors rattle can lacquer. The coverage is incredible!! Nothing like the poor coverage with many of their enamel colors...especially yellow. I do spray the inside as well as the outside of the body to ensure opacity, especially on some of the thinner Revell kits made from white plastic, but unless I've done some sort of bodywork, I haven't been priming them. I'm going to be spraying my Revell '64 T-Bolt this weekend with the Testors white lacquer over their thin white plastic. I'm a little apprehensive and curious about the coverage at the same time. I'll let you know how it turns out. Later,
  12. Oh yeah!! That's looking GREAT!! I don't know about using the Testors clear over HOK, I 've never tried it...Curt any advice here for Clay???
  13. My...how quickly we forget when we get old... It's a good thing that my computer remembers my login name and password for the forum, otherwise I'd always have to just be a "guest"!
  14. Oh yeah, baby...the GTS Blue Pearl is a beautiful color!! My wife loves that color! I've used it on a couple of different builds. It'll look really nice on your Stude!
  15. Aaron, Yep...bring anything, finished or not. This is as unformal as it gets!! You're also welcome to meet up with some of us in Tracy, if you want. I've got a van that seats 7 and so far only 3 seats are reserved. Later,
  16. Thanks...how about a link?
  17. Hey Curt...where did those sweet looking velocity stacks come from? I'm sure that my friend Bernard would like to get his hands on a set of them for his salt flat car! I don't know how you get enough gumption to build a vacuform kit. You know it's all I can do to even tackle a really well done resin model! Good job, my old friend!!
  18. OK...I'm going to cheat "a little" here...but only because YOU asked for all Studes, no matter how "bad" they are. So, with a "not so literal" translation of the term "bad", here's the one "bad" Stude in my collection that's built. This is Danbury Mint's limited edition '50 Studebaker Custom. With the Chrysler Corporation having ownership of the Studebaker name and all their products, the good folks at the mint found it appropriate to wedge a Nitrous Oxide powered Viper V10 into the engine bay and call this one "Snake". Mine is serial number 208. Production of this 1:24th scale model was limited to '06. If you want one now, you'll have to pay pretty big $$ for it on eBay, if you can find one. They sold originally for $140. Check out the fully functional hood hinges and the Viper V10 wedged in there! Yep, the gas door opens. This view shows the exhaust that's just in front of the rear tire and the optional cover that goes over the rear seats. There's another piece that snaps on in it's place if you need room for four. Nothing like a little squirt of Nitrous Oxide to help that poor little V10 get all that steel moving! The battery in the trunk helps add a bit of traction! And...the independent front and rear suspension helps make this a first class road car. No, Ani, this one isn't your dad's Stude...but I bet Clay wishes he had a 1:1 car just like it anyway...I know that I sure do...
  19. Sorry...no finished Studes in my collection...just two kits...
  20. Yeah, I knew that you had started that one before the Yenko. I don't recall any pics showing how far along you were... I don't even want to think about what or how many I've started that still need a "few" things done to make them complete. That's what I love about this hobby...I build what I want, when I want and I only finish them when I'm good and ready to.
  21. OK, so I'm spoiled already with seeing your Yenko Camaro with shiny paint, BMF and a fully wired magneto...what can I say? But...sometimes it just feels good to build one straight from the box! Keep up the good work. I can see your skills getting progressively better with each build!
  22. Very nice build, Mike!! How many pounds of BMF did you go through?!
  23. Too cool, Jonathan!! I can see the color, too!! Does that make me special?! So what's next?
  24. I think that's actually part of the BMF process! It might even be written into the instructions (for those that read that sort of thing)
  25. Very nice work, Manuel!! Very nice indeed!!
