  1. GREAT!! Now we can get back to sharing our skills with each other and expanding the depth of the hobby instead of pounding on our chests!! I Like it!!
  2. Now that's some funny stuff!! I darn near wet myself on that one!! Thanks for the chuckle!! Yes, I've seen Mr. Rios' paint jobs in person. The pictures he posted don't do the models justice! Yes, we should do this again sometime...that was fun...
  3. Hey Steve...that's not fair showing pictures of your 1:1 car on a model forum!! Seriously though, GREAT work!! I'll take a powder on this challenge and bow to your better skills in building a clean lowrider just from those pics. And yes, at 51, I'm even older than you!! Later,
  4. Very nice chop and build, Chris!!
  5. Ismael, I'll send you a PM with the address where you can mail that one to! I've already made room for it with my collection of other GREAT models that I've acquired from other GREAT builders! Thanks for sharing,
  6. Michael, You forgot to mention the trophy! I forgot what you won it for! Good work,
  7. Not much more to be said, Andy!! GREAT BUILD!! Thanks for sharing,
  8. OK, I'll throw in mine...but I doubt that most of you on this forum have ever heard of him. His name is Alan Monthei. The reason most of you have not, and probably will never hear of him, is because he was never and still isn't into the model contest or show scene or computers. He loves sharing his skills and his collection with his close friends and meeting new people that are just getting into the hobby. I would have to rate his model building skills up there with people like Bill Geary. Al would always do a lot of research and get good photo references before he'd start a build. His builds are nearly exact miniature duplications of the 1:1 item he decides to build, often with multiples of working features. Recently he showed Jerry Cardinal and I set of working door latches that he designed and installed in a 1/16th scale Caddy that he was working on. Jerry was so inspired that he went home and made working door latches for the 1/25th scale Willys that he was building. So, here's to you Al!
  9. Thanks, Clay, but Curt and I need a pretty tall ladder just to kiss Bill's a** when it comes to model detailing! Bill's work is exceptional! Period.
  10. I do that all the time!! It's part of getting old!!
  11. Kyle, Glad to hear that you're doing better. Unlike my friend Curt, I don't have any spare models in my collection that are in line with your interests. Sorry. Get some rest and take care of your back. You're way too young to have those kinds of problems!!
  12. Gregg, I'm glad you liked/borrowed what I wrote. I actually had a lot of fun with that one! Later,
  13. I'll second that!! I really like the overall look of the model!! Thanks for sharing,
  14. Ohhh...That's bad... Oh well, the point remains the same...if you can't say something constructive about another modeler's build then you shouldn't say anything at all. Period.
  15. I'll second all of that! I'm not a tuner builder either, but the color really fits that car very well. Nice build!!
  16. If I feel SO compelled to say something to someone about their model that they might find offensive because I might want to suggest an alternative way to do something, I send it in a PM, not post it on the board for all to see. So, my young friend, nested in the following lines is a fully appropriate response that you can give the next time someone leaves negative criticism about your models on the forum: Go ahead, build what makes you happy. Everyone has their own taste in modeling. Trying to please everyone will result in pleasing almost no one. Be your own man and build what you like. Each build has its pros and cons. Not everyone will like what you build. To tell the truth, I don't always like what I build.
  17. That's coming along pretty nicely, Michael!!
  18. I bought the "full" kit from SMBC that included the "chassis", but it was just a resin pop of the Model King/AMT reissue. Like you, I used sheet styrene to fill in the sides and the rear sections. I'm pretty sure that there are pictures of the chassis on my Fotki site, if you're interested. I also used the Accel Super Coil from SMBC. I didn't use the vacuform glass that came with the kit. I had a AMT issue of the stock model that Chris used to master the body, so I used the glass and a few other parts for the build from the AMT kit that looked better than what SMBC had provided. I like the way that you mounted the gas tank better than the way I did, mostly because you kept the stock grille in place with your design...but then I kept the front bumper... That's what's really cool about the two different builds...even in 1:1 they were all a little different. Here's the link to my finished model "Under Glass":http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...55+nomad+gasser Later,
  19. Yeah...I remember watching that car race...Dale was THE man when it came to NASCAR!! That's a very nice build and excellent photography!! Thanks for sharing!
  20. Kevin, That's a pretty nice model that you're building for your mom. She should really like it. The colors look good together. Regards,
  21. Kenny, It looks like you're making pretty good progress! I've got to get my butt in gear on my T-Bolt and get caught up!
  22. Tom, Very nice paint, decal and detail work!! That's a "keeper"!!
  23. I'll second that!! Keep up the good work and the posts!!
  24. I fully agree with everyone's response to this absurdity, but especially these two. If someone can't say something constructive they they shouldn't say anything at all. Period. I'm also one of those who's not a big fan of lowriders or donks, but who really cares...that's just my opinion. I'm sure that there are plenty of people who don't like what I build, and sometimes I'm one of them! (Those are the ones I give away). Quit for a while if you need a break, but don't let the buttheads get to you. They're not worth the time. So, sit down and build the best lowrider or DONK you've ever seen. Post it here. If I like it, I'll post a constructive comment. If I don't like it, I'll just move on to the next post... Regards,
  25. This post is for me and Jerry!!
