  1. Very nice decal work!! Can't wait to see this one finished!!
  2. Here's a picture of the first mockup. I'm going to build it with the automatic tranny option. Here are most of the "previously chromed" parts finishing their "dip" in ammonia. Many of the body panels, bumpers and such were made from either fiberglass or aluminum to keep the weight down. I read one article where they said that the front seats were out of the Econoline van from that year because they were lighter than the stock Fairlane seats. So, I may not finish it in time for the contest, but I can at least say that I started it...
  3. OK, I finally removed the cellophane and opened the box. No real progress, yet. I ordered a '64 Ford Fairlane T-Bolt book from Amazon that should be here by the end of the week. For anyone who doesn't know what a 64 T-Bolt looks like, here's a few of pictures: Mike will look pretty much like this one except for the wheels. Later,
  4. Yeah, I finally got the cellophane off of the box and I'm busy finding photos on the internet. I'm going to keep this one simple, so it "should" go pretty quickly.
  5. Thanks for all of the compliments, guys!! George, I'm glad that this build brought you a few good memories. Well, it's time to start the '64 Ford Fairlane T-Bolt for the drag racing "build-off". Later,
  6. Nice work!! I wish that I still had some of my builds from when I was 15. The oldest one I have is from when I was about 30.
  7. Welcome!! It looks like you're off to a good start!
  8. Very nice, Mark! Thanks for the extra pictures of the business end of this one!
  9. Thanks, guys! The next build is the '64 Ford Fairlane T-Bolt for the on-line drag racing contest. It'll be strictly a box build with a few PE parts and some BMF thrown in to make it a "keeper". Later,
  10. First, thanks to everone who provided ideas and comments while I was building this one. Second, I'm so glad its DONE! This one fought me all the way to the end. I may put mirrors on it if I can find some nice, simple chrome ones. I used the custom grille surround from the AMT '58 Impala, then slightly narrowed the stock grille to fit. I didn't like the 4 bar custom grille that came with the kit. From here you can see the slightly modified cowl induction hood that was shaped to match the overall profile of the rear roof vent. Yep, this is also a pretty clear shot of the 19" and 23" Big-n-Littles that many of you helped me decide on using. Here you can see the custom taillight openings, bezels and lenses. The roll pan is one of the custom pieces from the kit. The exhaust tips are aluminum tubing. Here's the forward tilting, hinged hood with the built-in support rod. For this build, I used the Z-11 427 (based on the 409) from the AMT '62 BelAir Super Stock kit. The Accel super coil and the aluminum distributor are from ScaleModelingByChris. The balast resistor was made from a piece of Plastruct. All I can say at this point is that I'm really glad that this one is DONE! Thanks, again to everone who helped,
  11. Now that sounds like a Marine talking!
  12. That's got a pretty good looking shine on it, Clay! The LHS near where I work carries HOK paint. I may pick some up the next time I'm there. If I don't like the color I guess that I can always use it as air freshener!
  13. I may have to try some of that stuff. My wife always complains about the "smell" whenever I spray paint anything out in the garage, especially the lacquer based primer. The only thing that she doesn't complain about are the Tamiya acrylics in the bottles. Thanks,
  14. No, we all build about the same...some just take better photos. Your stuff looks great, keep posting!
  15. Come on now, you two...no fighting on the forum.
  16. Very nice weathering! Yep, I'd wonder what that monsterous scoop in the grill was for, and why everything around it was getting sucked in!
  17. Very nice build, Bill! Great color choices! Yes, we all know about models that fight us to the end. I haven't touched my '58 Impala since f##### up the windshield last Friday night while trying to get it finished for the NNL West. I'm going to try to get back to it and get it done this weekend. Thanks for sharing,
  18. Very nice, clean builds, Dave!!
  19. Not much more to say that hasn't been said! Keep up the good work, Bernard!!
  20. Thanks for the update, Jan. Please tell him that we're all pulling for him.
  21. If you're expecting a tightly structured, over administered forum where people aren't free to post what they wish, then yep, you're on the wrong one. If you're looking for a loosely structured place where people can openly and constructively share their modeling concerns, accomplishments, ideas, hints and solutions without worrying about following someone else's notion of what's right and wrong, you're on the right one. Yes, there are occasionally a few "personal", non-modeling related comments posted here, but that's only because the people that post here feel that they're amongst friends and family...and they are.
  22. Yep, there's proof why you and Clay are together and why he shouldn't worry anout having a baby girl!!
  23. I usually do...but I couldn't find my stands. We've recently moved much of my mother-in-law's furniture into our house, so it's a bit difficult right now to find just about anything... Thanks for the input,
  24. Hey, that's the same POS console that came in the AMT '58 Impala kit! Yes, I actually used it in mine...
  25. They're being handled through ScaleModelingByChris: http://www.scalemodelingbychris.com/mad.htm
