Your chrome work is awesome!
-
Just completed a couple new ones I haven't posted. First - My 41 Willys Gasser based upon the Stone Woods and Cook Revell kit. Wanted to do a "show car" version. Kit was OK - but really ill fitting, especially the doors and trunk. My only complaint was I did too many coats of clear, which in certain light affects the pearl of the purple paint. Most recent build was a 69 Corvette. No special build - but just did it the way I wanted, adding some more chrome stuff. It's from the Revell Motor City Muscle, 2 in 1 Yenko kit. Here's the rest of my builds of which I've posted pictures of before.

Thanks for all the nice words! I'd have to admit - the Bronco is one of my favorite builds.

Thanks. I went with OEM style builds on both of these. While I made some changes to "color" them up - on the underside etc. I tried to stay true to the color schemes. That's why the El Camino interior is grey - not red - as they didn't do red interiors, although a lot of "custom" El Camino's sport Impala dashboards and interiors now days.

So I finished up my last couple builds this weekend. I was ready to paint the El Camino when I suffered a painting setback. So while I waited for the paint to arrive, I started the Bronco. Loved the Revell Bronco kit. It was a level five, so it had a lot of nice details, especially in the suspension and decals. Decided to do it Grabber Blue with Classic white with a flat white and black interior - all Testors enamel. Kit came with houndstooth decals for the interior which were really nice. Here's a few pics of it. The AMT 1959 El Camino kit was just the opposite of the Bronco. It was not very detailed and had a ton of flash on everything. I decided to try the Scale Finishes paints on this model for the first time. I was also going two tone which meant a fair amount of masking, as there is a lot of chrome I was going to brush on. Made the mistake of not using primer on the white coats and when I went to tape it for the red, it simply peeled off. That's when I wound up ordering more paint and primer. All in all I wasn't impressed with the paint, especially since I had to primer it which killed a bunch of the details. Also I put on several coats of the supergloss, which isn't nears as glossy as the Testors lacquer. So after all the work, I'm not happy with the finish at all. Especially after the finish on the Bronco came out much better and that was Testors enamel clear air brushed on. It also scratched pretty easy. I probably should have bought some enamel for the touch up because the other paint is so thin it's useless for touch ups. All in all it was a learning experience. I was happy with most of the chrome - as this is my first try painting it on. Also used foil for the side and probably should have used it for the rear around the fins.

I'm in the middle of building this one as well. My biggest complaint is mine is adorned with a ton of flashing. I've decided to do it stock and went with Scalefinishes paint, my first time using it. I spent an inordinate amount of time masking it off to do a Roman Red and Snowcrest white two tone paint job to mimic stock. After painting the white - I went mask off the red and the white came right off. Now - I didn't use their primer - but I hardly ever use primer especially with two tones because of the paint build up and masking. Here's the inspiration for my build. Unfortunately the supposed "stock" color is much creamier and not as bright as this white. Not sure on the red yet either.

Simply amazing work.

Wow!

What is a bit frustrating is fitting kits like this together at the end. Because the interior is comprised of so many different pieces, it's difficult to mock up to see how it all fits. The other detailed parts are great - always love that aspect.

Yup. I do agree on the body - in comparing it to pictures of the car - which I used for inspiration for colors etc. it's a bit off.
-
Outstanding. Amazing engine detail.
-
Thanks for all the nice comments!

Yes - the wide whites were part of the kit. The "whites" are plastic inserts in the tires.
-
I would venture to guess that's it's not easy to find - although I didn't search the net to see. It's definitely a more difficult kit to build - but not much more so than any kit with a lot of individual pieces.

Always loved the old XKE coupes. Found this at our local Hobby shop. Lot's of detail, which made it both interesting and a challenge. Being so old the chrome was discolored a bit, but I left as is. Fitting the body at the end was a challenge and there's a bit more gap at the bottom than I would have liked but no amount of trimming and fitting helped, same with the interior side "glass". While I built it with hood on the hinge - I decided to take that off as you can't open it enough to see the detail of the engine, and it also didn't fit as well as I would have liked. Overall I'm happy though.

Sweet - really nice!

Thanks again for all the kind words! I'm humbled due to the amazing amount of fantastic builds by all of you on this site.

Thanks for the suggestions - I was going to see if my local shop had some clear plastic.

My brother-in-law gave me this old AMT kit - it was opened and mixed in with some other Model A parts. Decided to do a hot rod - as it came with some parts to do a hot rod version. However, I decided to eliminate the fenders all together. Filled in the body where the fenders were supposed to go in the rear. Unfortunately it was missing the windshield so that's a no go. Modified the head and taillights to fit them on without fenders. Used slicks from my Cobra kit and spare tires from another kit as well as the chrome wheels. Headers are actually one of the optional intakes from the cobra kit I just finished. Went with a Testors Pearl Orange paint job along with a black and gold engine. Was fun doing something that wasn't just kit based.

Thanks - I look for them.

Thanks! Do you remember where you got the decals - I just started looking online to see if any were a match or close enough match.

Finished up the Cobra part of the kit last week. Somewhat happy with the results and happy overall. Added some pics of the whole kit including the truck and trailer as well. Tried to replicate Dan Gurney's CSX2137. Still missing the hood number plate as the kit only had two 99's. If anyone has the number 99 from the kit - I'd happily take it :-)
