  1. Well I'm not sure 100% yet, but I am planning on going to the Scale Modelworld at Telford this year, you going ???
  2. Got the side panels fitted, and the dash panel detailed, the gauges will go in tomorrow and then the dash panel can fixed into place
  3. Rustins, it's not the cheapest, but it's 100% pure solvent, It doesn't contain any xylol, toluene or any other petroleum derivative
  4. I've used the Tamiya fine primer under cellulose and acrylic lacquer paints with no problems, but mainly I use Hycote plastic primer, I also mix Tamiya and Humbrol and Testors enamels with lacquer thinners, makes them dry out much quicker
  5. Well the dash had dried up by this morning, and so had the interior flocking, got the seats, heater box and pedals fitted, plus the little interior lights fitted to the centre console, the dash still needs a little more detail painting
  6. I had actually read somewhere, that a full black rubberised underseal was a factory option, but I'm not sure where I read that, so that's why I did it satin black,
  7. Not a great deal done today, I've started on the flocking for the carpets, I've popped on a second helping, and should be dry by the morning, I have left the excess on until the morning, then it will get tapped off, hopefully it should turn o.k, as it's only the second time I've used the stuff ... Got the engine & gearbox into the chassis and got the exhaust system lined up and fixed into place, and a very good fit it is to ... I also repainted the carb' in titanium gold, When all that lot was drying, I started work on the dash, as the '68 dash inset in black, not wood as in the instructions, that didn't come in until the '69 model year, before I masked off to airbrush the black, a small piece of BMF was put over the dial bezels, then the dash was masked off and airbrushed a mix of Tamiya flat black and semi gloss black, one I had airbrushed the black, I took a cotton bud dipped in Tamiya thinners and wiped away the paint on the dial surround, leaving the chrome showing though, it's a shame they didn't mold in the bezels for the smaller dials
  8. Esci actually made a few models of the Mk1 Range Rover, and they were available as a Factory stock, Camel Trophy rally, and West Midlands Police versions, I had a few of these many years ago, and they can all be built stock, the later Italeri version has has the rear side windows molded over, so you can't build a factory stock version out of it. Aoshima made a few, but are the later "Classic" Range Rover, also look out for the Revell AG version, as it was a re-boxed Aoshima kit, All, sadly are out of production, so it's either eBay or places that sell's second hand kits, they do pop up from time to time on eBay.co.uk

    71 Duster

Very nice build, cracking job on the paintwork.
  10. Only spent a short time this afternoon in the hobby room, but I got the centre console done in BMF, which had to be done in 6 pieces, a single piece wouldn't fit down into the gaps without tearing .... I will paint the carpet before doing it in flocking
  11. Yesterday I got most of the engine built up, I will leave the aircleaner off until I have put the decal on, the oil filter was painted white just after I took these photo's Today I did a little work on the inner door panels, got the one finished, all the chrome is done using BMF, I will leave the other one to do in a couple of days, as sitting there with a magnifying glass, tweezers and a scapel, for what seemed like a lifetime, my head is just about to explode !!!

    Morris Mini

Nice little Mini, and a very nice build,
  13. I like the look of this one, shame we will never see it this side of the pond ....
  14. Got a little bit done yesterday, but not much, one thing I did notice is that the aftermarket distributor I bought didn't have the vacuum advance on it, that the kit one does, so it was a 5 second job to cut it and fit it to the aftermarket one, it will now be painted aluminium before putting on the cap, and getting the engine wired .... also got the wheels & tyres fitted together.
  15. Finally got the acrylic case for her ....
  16. Well it's been a stressful time in the hobby room for the last couple of days, but calm has now been restored, the day after I had put on the clearcoat, I noticed there was a mark in the paint on the bootlid, and the metallic paint looked out of scale to me, so I spent a day sorting out the boot, by the time I had sanded the offending spot, I was down to the plastic, once that was sorted, the whole body got wetsanded, the next day the basecoat was re-applied using a smaller 0.3mm needle and then using a 0.5mm needle for the clearcoat, that this time was thinned a little more, this time I'm much happier about the finish, so it will be left alone for a week so I can get on and build up the chassis and running gear ....
  17. Very nice, and lovely detail, especially considering the small scale ....
  18. I ordered the '53 Hudson Hornet kit yesterday, and having a look on Google, I have decided that I will be painting the body in Southern Blue with a Broadway Blue roof, now the only thing I can't find is any photo's of the colours of the interior that this colour combo' would have had, does anyone have any info' that would be useful to me ??
  19. Thanks, I've put it into my favorites, as temptation got the better of me and I bought one of these kits yesterday ...
  20. Got the clearcoat on this afternoon, I will leave it a couple of days before handling it ...
  21. Well the primer dried overnight and got the body wet sanded this morning, and got the basecoat on, I will leave it to dry out for a couple of days before putting on the clearcoat
  22. I need to order in some paint supplies, I usually have some of the filters, but like most things, you only find you've ran out when you really need them, I will pop them on the order when I stock up on supplies, and as I have another '68 to build, I can use it on that.
  23. Don't worry, I don't give in that easy !!! she'll be back in top coat soon .....
  24. Well, not a very productive day, got the bodyshell and wet sanded the dust marks out of the body, made sure the body was dust free, and tried another coat of paint, only to find ###### coming out of the airbrush into the paint, now I had only just cleaned the airbrush, but I thought I would try another airbrush, got the same problem, there was so much ###### coming out, it has to be in the paint .... So the bodyshell and body parts are in the stripper !!!, popped to my paint supplier, and I knew they would have the paint, as I tried them in the first place, but they mixed me the closest they could get, which was a Ford colour, so I got a small pot of that mixed up in automotive acrylic, lacquer based, not enamel, so once the shell is free of paint, it will be re-primed, and done in this, I really wanted to do it in the proper shade, but it wasn't to be ....
