Tamiya 1/35 scale Canadian Ford gun tractor. I wanted a more mustard yellow paint for WW 2 Africa use but settled for the camo brown color.. The model was built stock except for the 2 jerry can holders on the rear. I purchased them from Shapeways and they are 2 small for Tamiya jerry cans. I built the storage rails from spruce from the kit. The sand channels were purchased from Shapeways.

I bought the trailer assembled form EBAY. I bought the tractor from EBAY as a kit under the AVD name. Both can be purchased as completed model from Start Scale Models. I had some issues with broken and missing parts. The cab and the frame are metal the rest of the parts are plastic. The parts tress were to long to fit in box so the were broken before putting into the box. Some of the small parts were missing and both side steps were broken. I tried to match the trailer color and used USAF olive drab.

Thanks I will take the trailer with me to try to match up to lid of can color. How about Testors Camo green color ? Can not tell form label or lid.

I bought an AVD model kit of a Russian KAMAZ 255 heavy duty truck tractor. I have a Russian heavy haul trailer already assembled and painted in a dark green paint color. I do not have an air brush so I am looking for a dark green flat spray color. I can find olive drab but need something that olive drab. Any ideas ?

USING MOLOTOW CHROME PEN
ROY FERGUSON replied to ROY FERGUSON's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers

I am going to order letters to complete a MACK truck project from SHAPEWAYS. Should the letters be primed with a light color primer before applying the MOLOTOW chrome or applied direct to the letters ?

Diecast Dozer on AMT Lowboy
ROY FERGUSON replied to Warren D's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The First Gear I.H. is quite heavy and I would think it will eventually collapse the tires of the lowboy. I don not have an assembled AMT lowboy but will the F.G. dozer be a bit wide for the bed ? -

I ordered decals July 21 got notice July 29 order shipped. -
I had a license from IH trucks to build 1/50 scale IH 5600i diecast with Conrad in Germany. This model was replaced by the 7000 series. I found this resin kit on EBAY and received it July 27. Who ever did the casting did a great job the frame is straight and cab is square. There is 1 mirror missing but I have extras from Conrad. This appears to have been a copy of the cement mixer as it has water tanks for the side of the frame. Tire seems to be in round so now to figure out how to build it, demi tractor maybe.

I wanted to build the Renwal wrecker other than in olive drab color. I found a photo of a later military wrecker that had been rehabbed in civilian life. I bought resin tires from supplier on Ebay, built boom support, added light on under side of boom support, added warning light on pole, filled in front bumper with deck plate and moved vise to the front.

I used to sell some of the Bruder models, they are heavy duty plastic toys that border on being low grade replica models. I toured their factory in Furth, Germany and it looked like a electronics factory. Highly automated and works dressed in white suits. Many of the parts were installed by robots, A good family run company.

Can you identify this car?
ROY FERGUSON replied to ROY FERGUSON's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In September 1980I attended armorers school at Ruger's New Port New Hampshire plant. We were invited to Mr. Ruger's hunting preserve near New Port and while shooting I spotted this car and took photos. Mr. Ruger had this car built and here is a history about the car. https://www.si.com/vault/1970/08/03/610900/too-racy-for-a-rolls-too-mod-for-a-duesenberg-the-ruger-may-be-your-car -
rings back old memories of Fire Ball Roberts. Man years ago I did a 1960 (?) Pontiac black and gold with white #22 on it, I think it was an AMT kit that had parts to mark into a race car. Wonderful job on your Ford
