William, This looks great. When you consider that the cab is open to the elements (Mk I air con) you have to have some sympathy and respect for the people who worked these old trucks. Hard work, dangerous, freezing cold and wet in winter and hot in summer. Someone had to do it. With all these logging trucks and equipment that you are building you could put together a history of logging uing these great models. Thanks for sharing. Dave

Well! Its finished!!! Just over a year and a long time coming. This has been a great little project and I have to say that i have enjoyed the numerous challenges that it brought. My original intention was to see if I could completly scratch build an engine using standard stock materials. The challenge or test was against myself to see if I had the necessary skills and abilities. If I could complete the project then maybe others would be encouraged to have a go themselves. The engine is no where near perfect with a lot of "Artistic License" being utilised. The colour is not right. I mixed my own version of Alpine Green but its a little to dark. Next time I'll add more white to it. I will leave you to deside what you think of the engine. For me its mission accomplished. Now for that KTA, Iron Lung, etc, etc. Or maybe I'll get to finish my Autocar. http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/116-12v71tta-detroi/page2.html Many Thanks for looking. Best Wishes Dave

In my younger days I built 2 of the yellow Pete 359s and the red W900a. The KW was by far the best kit. It built very well and had the extended hood. The yellow Pete had the standard 119" BBC which was a pity. The extended hood would have been great and my preferred choice. Matt Burnett is working on 1/16 parts and has made progress with the extended hood for the Pete. (He posted some details on the forum some time ago) I recently bought the W900A Aerodyne, The white Pete 359 and the Fruehauf trailer. I have finished the Detroit in 1/16 that was built for a 359 and will post details later today. Reflecting on these large 1/16 scale trucks I love them! They are big for a plastic model and the detail is pretty good. The only problem I have found is, with them being old kits if they have not been stored properly they get bent and twisted. The hood on the W900 I have is bent and will need some work to correct the problem and the the frame rails on the Pete are that badly twisted I will probably have to make some new ones. But great kits! Matt, Put my name down on your list! Best Wishes Dave Paul David Bates

Peterbilt Ultra Roof Cab - Coming Soon
Old Albion replied to Porky's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I think the amount of aftermarket parts and the quality of them is exceptional!! Is that Peterbilt cab the right one for the 389 and 388? The detail is very impressive. Might have to get one. Dave -

Custombilt 379
Old Albion replied to Sergey's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Sergey, Very nice work. I like your attention to detail. Using an empty tea tin is a novel idea for making the wing. Something I would never have thought of. I will keep an eye on this one for progress. Dave -

Old Albion replied to Andrew's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Andrew, This is an exceptional build. Very Impressive. What techniques did you use for the weathering? I have checked my local models supply outfit and they have both version of the Bedford. After seeing yours I think I will get both for some future projects. Best Wishes Dave -

Truck motor colors
Old Albion replied to Aaronw's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wonder if there is any way that Greg or Tim could see about getting this topic pinned at the top of the Topic List? This for us Truck Modellers is probably one of the most talked about aspects of trying to get some historical accuracy in our models. Dave, Reference the International 4300. Just looking at the length of the hood and the recess in the bulkhead. Was the truck capable of taking the 12V71 Detroit, KT450-KTA600 Cummins and the 3408 Cat? If I read your post right they would be painted red. Best regards Dave
