  1. Tim, Great looking Mack! I like the scratch built crane, very nice. Dave
  2. Ben, I was just thinking the same!!! This has just gone on my "To Build List Also". Best Wishes Dave Bates
  3. This is a great looking rig. The paint work is superb. I especially like the camber in the trailer frame to resist the bending just like the real things. I to would like to see some more photo's if possible. I can imagine the judges had a nightmare trying to decide between this rig and Kurt's?? Probably came down to the toss of a coin. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes Dave Bates
  4. Over the Winter months I started formulating plans for a 1/16 scale Pete 359 from around 1975 to 76. I bought from Ebay a Monogram 1/16 Pete (The white one with the rainbow stripes). I also bought the Fruehauf flatbed trailer. I had built the yellow Monogram Pete and the Red Kenworth when I was much younger in the very early 1980s and felt it was time that I built another. But I don't know what it is I just can not build box stock. The Clatterpillar 3408 in the kit is very good but I wanted something a bit differant. So I started to experiment to see if I could scratch build a 12V Detroit Diesel from scratch. I bought bolt heads and nuts from Scale Hardware (http://www.scalehardware.com/). These are very realistic but expensive. I started with the valve covers then the cylinder heads, the exhaust manifolds, and the block. I have one or two other items complete as you can see in the photo's. http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/116-12v7...ev12nextto.html Does anyone know any sites for 1/16 aftermarket parts? Best Wishes Dave
  5. Latest update on this project. I have been working on the trailer over the winter. I found some photo's of a 1972 Advantage 5 axle trailer on Truckpaper.com. This looked an excellent candidate for my Autocar, being from about the right period as the A64B. Once I had set my mind on what I wanted to build progress was pretty quick. The building of the trailer is virtually complete and it is now ready for paint. I like to do my painting in my little workshop outside, but the weather has been a bit to cold of late to be airbrushing. So I will wait for it to warm up a bit. I am also waiting for some Auslowe 5 spoke wheels from Chris at Sourkrauts. The Autocar is also coming to a conclusion although there is still a lot of work to do I am making some progress. I have added a few photo's to my Fotki album. http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/autocar-...progressat.html http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/autocar-...inprogress.html http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/autocar-...arlyreadyf.html http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/autocar-...th5axletra.html http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/autocar-...ofautocarw.html Thanks for looking. Best Wishes Dave
  6. Bill, Another great looking rig. That low boy is very impressive. Do you have any close up photo's of the goose neck attachment? Best Wishes Dave.
  7. I like the old AC Mack. You can see why the British Soldiers in the First World War nick named the Mack "Bulldog". It does have quite a resemblence. Nice looking truck. Best Wishes Dave
  8. Bill, This is a great looking project. I love those stripes on the cab. Wish I could paint like that. Is the paint scheme as the prototype? I have never seen the turbine engine in its built form so this is completely new to me. Yes! Very interesting project. Look forward to the finished photo's. Good Luck Dave.
  9. Great looking truck. That Metallic Blue paint looks great with the chrome. Best Wishes Dave
  10. Tim, Another great looking Pete. Is the hood a standard extended hood? It looks longer than the standard one. Best Wishes Dave
  11. Matt, Great looking custom truck. I like your paint scheme. Interesting you mention a 1/16 scale Pete. I too have bought of Ebay a 1/16 Monogram Pete 359 (The white one with the rainbow stripes) and the 1/16 Fruehauf Trailer. Whilst I am waiting for my Spoke trailer wheels from Chris at Sourkrauts I have started work scratch building a 1/16" 12V71TTA Detroit for a Monogram Pete. Progress is coming on well. I will see about getting some photo's soon and starting a new thread. Good Luck with your future build. Best Wishes Dave
  12. Uwe, This is a great looking truck. The weathering is great and the details are superb. Will you be building a matching trailer? Best Wishes Dave
  13. Ray, Any progress on this one? The trailer looks good. I like the Aluminium paint you used on the tank. Should be a nice looking rig when its all done. Good Luck with the rest of the build. Best Wishes Dave
  14. Kurt, This has to be your best build to date. I like the detailing, the paint, everything. A truly great build. All it needs now is a Rogers Low Boy with a Caterpillar D8. You need to get some photo's outside this would look real in the right conditions. Great Work! Best Wishes Dave
  15. Bill, Great looking rig the trailer really sets it off. Best Wishes dave
  16. Jerry, Very Impressive. On your first post you show the photo of the engine with some resin parts fitted. Are these part of the conversion kit?? Which Conversion kit is this? Best Wishes Dave
  17. Very Impressive! I like the weathering, especially the rusty chains. Best Wishes Dave
  18. I agree with the other comments this is a superb build and great craftsmanship. I will definately keep a lookout for updates on this one. Superb!! For details and photo's try the ATHS web site http://www.aths.org/ Try the discussion forum. Best Wishes Dave
  19. Ray, Thanks for sharing the photo's. I hate to think how much one of those tyres costs but thats quite an expensive load. Hope it paid well. One of the good things about travelling around you see many interesting things. A scale load of earthmover tyres would make a great load on a 1/25 truck. Aaron, Your right a Komatsu dump truck would be a massive kit in 1/25 scale. Yes I want one. Best Wishes Dave
  20. Bill, These two trucks look superb. Both complement each other very well. You did a great job with the old decals. I always struggle with the old decals and can never get them to work. Just one question is the paint scheme based on the KW Bicentennial paint scheme? Looks very similar. Best Wishes Dave
  21. Tim, Very Impressive! I like the green colour it looks well on the Pete. Very Stylish.
  22. This looks superb so far. I will look forward to seeing the finished photo's.
  23. Very Impressive!! I like the colour scheme it looks really well and suits the truck. It does help to give it that older appearance. I like it.
  24. Marshall, Thanks for the information. That helps me to understand things clearer. Best Wishes Dave PS That Pete Legacy is a superb looking trhuck I'm green with envy.
  25. Jerry, Very Impressive project! Good Luck Dave
