  1. tbill, Thx for the heads up. I'll mock it up before finalizing. Warren D, will check it out.
  2. Where would I be able to find these wheels/tires?
  3. Serendipity, when I opened the tractor box, it seems that I had built the frame and engine a while back. That saved some time. Just had to add the logging trailer attachment points. Assembled and painted the trailer components. Since this is a logging truck and subject to rough service I'm not going for a show quality paint job on either trailer or tractor.
  4. Nacho Z See my thread in the "On the Workbench " section for some tips.
  5. Something different. Medium blue paint scheme for both.
  6. Quite an ambitious project, usual 1970's fitment issues. See On the Workbench for WIP pics. Inspiration for the build - https://www.pinterest.com/pin/158822324335912327/ My rendition -
  7. Finished build, see pics in the Under Glass section.
  8. https://hesstoytruck.com/2019-holiday-hess-toy-truck/#product-reviews Wonder if they can be cannibalized to use the wrecker bodies? Dimensions are listed in the review.
  9. One trailer done, one tractor and trailer to finish.
  10. Untrimmed cab on almost done chassis.
  11. JJ55, Clear gorilla tape only. Also used it to attach the nose of the trailer to the sides. Even used it for the tape on the roll up door, more aggressive adhesive and slightly stronger than adhesive tape. Are you from or in Jersey? What exit? I am originally from Newark and Jackson. Moved to NC in May. Good reference material here: https://www.google.com/search?q=consolidated+freightways&client=firefox-b-1-m&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi4saf_mJzlAhXhT98KHQ-KD4gQ_AUIBygC&biw=360&bih=560#imgrc=9_SaCVqCad5foM%3A
  12. I'll need another Mobieus Ford kit for that build.
  13. Dollies done, one for travel, one for storage.
  14. Hi Tom, Used to be treasurer for the JSMCC, now live in North Carolina.
  15. Cheated and used Gorrilla Tape to hold the cab together. Hey, it's not like someone's going to drive it.
  16. Painted with Rustoleum 7765 Regal Red. Trucks don't have to look showroom fresh, especially fleet jobs. A little rough around the edges. Thanks to all for the compliments
  17. Chassis painted, single stack per CF specs. No chrome either, a real bare bones operation.
  18. Suspension and dollies ready for paint.
  19. As I began separating the suspension parts, I realized that there are enough extra parts to build another trailer dolly. If you build the SD (single axel) version of the Freightliner tractor, you will have the extra four tires required for the dolly. The pictures shows the suspension parts divided using the trays from storebought cookies.
  20. Yes, https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Flive.staticflickr.com%2F7159%2F6561409573_fe1d33a17a_b.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fmudflapper359%2F6561409573&docid=njcVVLvM2ZboOM&tbnid=67M7o2Y6NeqCwM%3A&vet=1&source=sh%2Fx%2Fim
  21. What colors would the trailers be, silver or white to match the same era as the tractor?
  22. Started the Chrome Trailer. Instead of using cement to hold the sides together used clear Gorrilla Tape on the inside seams. Also wore latex gloves to prevent fingerprints. Building the full size version. Will be using the tape to hold the two tank sections together. Picture poorly shows tape location.
  23. One of my modeling tips is to use Sharpies, both standard and fine tip for detail and touch up. The black fine tip is great for detailing grilles as the tip fits the recesses perfectly Also use a silver marker for chrome trim, although not perfect it's quick and easy. good enough for me. orange for turn signals, red for taillights black for wiper blades and touch up, gold for carburetors. You get the picture Apply the markers after spraying with glosscoat to prevent running.
  24. Finished these two Revell kits tonite. Box stock except swapped wheels and tires between them.
