The sun just came out, so I took the opportunity to take a couple of pics to really show just how nice the colour actually is.

thanks fellas. I forgot to take pics of the interior with the seat belts attached but everyone can guess what they'd look like: seat belts

thank you guys I had it looking way better than this at one point but being true to myself, I somehow managed to ingrain a massive glue thumb print into the roof AND the bonnet - completely ruining it. It very nearly became the first ever Ferrari jet car but I reined in the disappointment and rage and started again. Yes, they are very expensive and quite the limiting factor for many - me included. Still, I'd like to have bought the Alfa Romeo Quadrafoglia before they stopped making them. Same for the Mclaren 720. Oh well, that's life

Thanks, everyone, for the encouraging posts. These pictures do not really do the colour any justice. It was a cloudy day today but in the sun, this looks so much different. I'll take some better pics when the sun comes back out in a few days

hey everyone I've been a bit quite on the forum content lately due to a lack of mojo but I am slowly but definitely coming out of it This is one of 3 projects (4 if you count the on-going SD build) that I've had on the back burner and this one in particular has given me such a headache. Not because of the quality of the kit - far from it. What you're seeing in front of you is the 6th and final paint job. Yes, I stripped it back to bare resin 5 times prior to now because of various paint malfunctions caused by myself various paint issues (lifting mostly) and some outright clumsiness. But, it's done and I can now concentrate on finalising my first scratch built space fighter as well as my 1/350 Bismarck. Once they're done, I MIGHT go back to the mind numbing task of threading fibers. So, that's it really. Its a great kit, goes together beautifully as you would expect! As always, thanks for stopping in and having a look See you all soon Si

mate, nice job! You must have had that kit in the stash for a while - they're as rare as rocking horse pooh nowadays. I'd been looking for one for a while but I'm just am not prepared to pay the values on eBay. You did a great job on it and the scheme really suits it. If I got one, I'd do one as a WHIF subject like you, but in one of the older Air New Zealand schemes (one of the least likely airlines who would acquire one) or even Qantas. Maybe I should buy 3 so I could have Thai Airlines as well

hey Juergen Thanks for the check up bud. Sorry to say, I haven't touched it for the past month or so as I have been busy with other real life projects plus a couple of car kits I had to finish. I am in the finishing stages of another project I've had going which I will post soon. Once that's done, the plan is to go back to the base and try get that finished and then if I still have reserve mojo, I will keep on going with the fiber installation - a mammoth task to which I have had supply issues to boot. However, just for you, I will add a couple of pics as an update Midsection layers: Thanks again for looking in Juergen (and everyone else too) and I shall see you all again soon Si

thanks guys I got an email from Amazon this morning telling me I got a refund on the wing that I was going to put on this, so will now have to go find another one from somewhere else. This is the second time I have bought something from Amazon Japan with either had it not turning up or just get refunded with no reason as to why. Not a great experience I must say Oh well, onward and upward thanks again guys for having a look and taking the time to reply Si -
Hey all Been plugging away at this one for a couple of weeks now and thought I'd share it. It's not quite finished yet - I am waiting on a new rear wing to go on the back but that's it. I was going to change the wheels to Volk T7's but I had such an issue getting these ones on, (I broke the suspension) I won't even try to swap them out As always, I manage to get some free dust into the pictures and I also forgot to touch up the blue tow rings (which I am literally doing now) but other than that, I am pretty happy with how it came out. Painted in Pink primer then Zero Paints Candy Red over that with SMS 2k clear finishing it off. And the inside: Well, that's it. Once I get the rear wing, I'll see how it looks etc and decide if I'll add it. If it looks good etc, I take a couple of pics and post them in afterwards As always, thanks for stopping in and having a look Si

Hey all I recently got elected to build this kit as part of an upcoming "competition" (not very serious thankfully), so this has been a slight switch up to my usual subjects. I have to say - I thoroughly enjoyed putting this together and decided to have just as much painting it. Using Tamiya X-19, X-69 and one of the many Gunze German greys (I can't remember exactly which one ATM) The rules are pretty basic - OOB only. No Aftermarket decals or detail sets etc. No masks. Nothing - just what comes in the box. Not even allowed to lead add wires. I bent the rules slightly by stretch some sprue for the antenna - well, it came from the box after all. You can paint it in whatever scheme you like so I did. I just stuck tape down where I thought I should go and that was that. I really like how it came out in the end. I finally got to put to use some relatively newly acquired weathering skills from YouTube and they paid off IMO. What do you guys reckon? Well, that was just heaps of fun and it felt good to go outside my usual subject matter. Great kit. Not a single issue at all. There's something to be said about some of the older Tamiya kits Anyways, thanks for looking in Si

thanks guys: ) The bottom layer is now pretty much ready for painting. I just need to add some PE ladders to the frame work and it'll be done. Then to make the top layer which will be pretty much the same as whats on the bottom. I'll add in some lighting too to both layers - just for added interest The next update should see some paint on it! Getting closer to the end - sort of As always, thanks for stopping in and having a look Si

hey guys Does anyone know of a kit of the 379 anywhere? I can not find one anywhere online? Was one even available? If not, how come? Licensing issue or just not enough demand? I see 378's and so on just not a 379

continuing on with the base, the insert is painted and lit: I have sprayed black underneath since taking that shot to add light blocking. It looks pretty good to me The walls have also been started. You won't see much once the middle layer is added but there is enough to make it interesting: Well, that's it for now but I'll update this again once the bottom layer has been finished. I think I'll need to black base the bottom first before I start on the top layer as it'll be impossible to get in there once the middle deck has been added. The top plate is almost ready for paint too. I still need to add frame work to it which I'll do once the bottom part is done. As always, thanks for stopping in and having a look Si

Thanks David I am much happier with the more subdued top plate - and it'll make my life so much easier I have finished building the machinery stuff for the hole section on the right side of the base. It's made up of 2 layers which will be sufficient to give a scale of depth. You won't see much if it but I will be adding some lights under the first floor to make it more visible and for some interest (gotta have more to look at than just the ship right?) This is now all ready for paint which I will do tomorrow night. Ground floor: First floor: together: And with the top plate on: Simple but effective I think. I'll take some more shots once it's all painted etc As always, thanks for stopping by Si

OK, well, I have finished putting in all the panel lines and I am really happy with how they came out. It was a fair amount of work but IMO, worth every minute. I reckon it took a total of about 4- 5 hours to do the whole ship - which given how long its taken me to get this far could be considered mind blowingly fast then you put it all together and you get this: And finally, the obligatory bridge shot: Well, that's it for now. I'll continue working on the base until I get some more fiber. I still need to add a clear coat to the ship and then I'll do a small wash in places to bring out more detail but other than that, yeah, the painting side is pretty much done. Open to any suggestions on how to make it better As always, thanks for continuing to stop in and have a look Si

Thanks David. I'll put my geek hat on here and state that I do believe they were capable of flying in atmosphere. The ones in ROTJ had paddles on the engine bells and my Greenstrawberry set did have them but I never liked them myself - they looked to much like an after thought, so I left them off. I try not to think about the actualities of SW ships as I don't want to ruin the fun factor they have for me

thanks guys. Yeah, the minute I saw it on that YT video, I was hooked. It's just so eye catching. So much more interesting that blue (can't believe I am saying that myself as I really like metallic blue)
