Hi Rob Yes, I know Fred. If you're still looking for him, he frequents What If a lot https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?action=profile;u=7950

I think because it's resin people tend to think it'll be more challenging etc, but the reality is, this is no Anigrand resin kit and it pretty much falls together. This one is actually quite straight forward really although the instructions can be a tad vague in places but it doesn't take much brain power to work out what goes where The 812 is one of my favourite Ferrari models. I would have liked the Mansory Stallone version but I don't think AM have the license for them. If they did, wow - that would be something else and my bank account would be so empty.

all good guys - I know I was itching to see what you got In relation to schemes, I am stuck on which one. I do like the grey with orange trim, but I also like these one: I like the simplicity of this one I'm having quite a hard time deciding

Hi everyone I was very excited to see the postmen pull up today and deliver my long awaited P1 GTR kit. I wished it was the real thing but seeing as that's wholly unobtainable, I'll settle for this brand new kit from Alpha Model I am not in the habit of spending large sums of money on kits, but this was an exception. It's the only kit available of this subject and just from looking at it, I feel it's a winner for sure I took the liberty of taking some shots of what you get in case you too are eyeballing this kit and are just not quite sure what you'll get. Everything in resin is beautifully cast with no air bubbles, warping or cracks. Heavty for sure but I don't mind. Not as much PE as I thought you;d get but again, I am OK with that. There's even an engine which someone with much better skills than mine would be able to super detail. All the right detail is present and there is a massive decal sheet for 2 schemes - not that I'm going with either one 4 bags of bits: PE frets including PE seat belts which was a nice touch: Inside Bag #1 The unique rear tail lights are clear resin: Inside Bag #2: Bag #3 Decal sheet And lastly, the instructions: Well, that's all I took but hopefully that'll give you an idea on what you get for $160US Cheers Si

thanks for the kind posts guys I'll admit, the grille was a last minute item. I hadn't repainted the mirrors so I thought I have better balance them out slightly with the grille, otherwise it'd be a bit odd
-
Thanks Josh! I didn't realise that 911 was 1/43. Bit of an odd scale
-
thanks guys - you're very kind No, I didn't really have any issues with the kit - not serious ones anyway - although the bottom plate is too small to cover the space it needs to. The PE was fiddly and in some places, probably unnecessary to requirements. The best thing about this kit was there was no clean up to do. Its all very nicely molded. There are pour stumps to sand off but that's also why I find resin to be better than plastic in a way. Sanding is easier - albeit more hazardous to ones health, but it's quite quick. The wheels are still in their packaging. I was never going to use them as I favoured the BBS rims more. I did have to really modify the wheels to be able to get them on as the fitment is very different to the AM one You're quite right Bernard - they are expensive. Probably costs more than my talent deserves really, but I had some back pay from work so decided to splurge a little

Thanks Larry TBH, this is definitely not my best work. The original paint scheme was way better but I ruined it by accidentally spraying the font of it with a glob of flat clear and couldn't repair it I just hope the P1 comes out better

Hey everyone I have been taking a break from the SD to do something different. In this case it's the all resin 1/24 Ferrari 812 Superfast kit from Alpha Model (AKA Hobby Design) Good kit, a bit pricey for the lack of parts, but lots of PE and really nice detailing - especially on the interior. Of course, I didn't take any photos of that before I sealed it up but I was really happy with how it came out. I'm not so happy with the overall finish though but it'll do. It was originally this beautiful almost Mazda Soul Red before it was black but I screwed up the paint work twice and this is the fourth and final iteration. Black was my second choice at the start Scale Solutions CF decals used The 20" BBS rims are from Aoshima which took quite a lot of fettling to get on but I really love how they look I am waiting on the Alpha Model McLaren P1 GTR to arrive in the mail any day now and will be starting it once it's here. Given how shoddy I am with car modelling, no WIP. I have to keep some integrity you know. I can take some pictures of the kit though for anyone who maybe interested in it Excuse the dust particles that decided to join in the photo shoot Anyways, it was a nice break from Sci-Fi Thanks for looking

Hi everyone Time for an update. I have pretty much finished detailing the sidewalls on the starboard side and now just need to do the port side. Once the all of the detailing is done, I'll drill out the windows and then paint them ready for fiber installation. I am very happy with how its all come out! Anyways, that's it for now, but I will update again once the other side is finished Thanks for looking in Si
-
thanks guys Yeah, I am more concerned about the paint hiding the details rather than getting into the tight spaces. That part is easy - a wash would take care of that. A lot of this detail is really small and thin , so it's more likely that I will loose detail to paint layers. I will have to use super thin paint to cover this. Going to be interesting for sure when that time comes as painting is not my strong suit at any time!

I had the top on briefly tonight whilst I was marking out where the next load of floodlights were going to go and I added the roof etc just to see how its looking. I am really happy with how it's looking! (just do what I do and look past the current gaps ) I thought it's looking pretty frickin' cool myself. I just took those 3 pics just then as I thought it looked good enough to share. Never mind the extraordinary orange wall behind. I try to forget it myself thanks again Si

Hi everyone Thought I would update this while I have some spare time. Work continues on the sidewalls with only one wall left on the starboard side and only 2.5 left to do on the other I am pretty happy with how its coming along. I haven't quite finished the one above but I'm pretty much there I'll post another update when I have finished the whole side thanks as always for looking Si
-
thanks David. Maybe a bit too early yet to say but I am going to try get as much done as I can before I need another break So, I finally got round to finishing off the spot lights up front and thought I'd do a dry fit /light test, and thought I would share my happy results Yes, I probably should have gone with cool white, but I prefer the look of the warmer white. Well, that's it but feel free to share your thoughts - good or bad. As always, thanks for looking Si

hey everyone Dusting this one off to show that I have actually started back on this yet again. Have begun the fun task of detailing the side walls, starting off with the front. This is pretty much where I left off in the last update but I am now more advanced along. Although it may not look it, a heap of small details have been added to the lips of the 2 hull halves. Whilst they don't look like much on their own, when you add the rest of it together, it fills the spaces nicely. I'm almost done for the front with only the right side front panel left to do which won't take long. Then naturally I'll make my way down the sides. I also have to add details to the under sides of the top half of the ship which I missed the first time round. I thought i was done detailing the top bit but alas, no Enough words, here's some pics: I'm often asked for a size reference.Maybe this may help: Anyway, that's all I have for now but I'll update once I'm fully finished the trenches. Thanks for stopping by and for those who are actually still following this - you get an extra thanks for your enduring patience with me while I fumble my way through this Till next time! Si

thanks guys @Richard Bartrop - you're absolutely right - they do have some of the best ship designs going. I really like the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 ships and have built a fair few Bandai kits of those ships. I also love the re-imagined Arcadia from Harlock. I wish that was a kit and would love to get a 3D printer so I can maker my own one

Hey everyone I have been taking a break from the Star Destroyer to built the all new Cordoba kit from Hasegawa. For those who have no idea what this ship is from, it's from an old anime series called Crusher Joe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusher_Joe Its a really nice kit and is the second kit of this ship made in styrene. The first, smaller kit was released by Takara which I happened to build way back in 2012 or there about. There was also a larger resin kit made by Soy-ya which is hideously and prohibitively expensive if you're lucky enough to find one The Hasegawa kit is believe it or not a "snap kit". I forgo a lot of the locating lugs etc to get a better fit but even then I just couldn't get the 2 hull halves to meet correctly. If you build it OOB, you'll end up with rather large and unsightly gaps. I feel that Hasegawa are trying to intrude on Bandai's snap-tight territory but in my opinion, just isn't up to that kind of level. Still, I enjoyed it. I did remove open up some of the spaces on the hull and made some engine walls to sit behind those openings. I have done my best to keep the lighting subtle and to scale. There are even flashing red nav lights! I know - very fancy right?! I replaced the pegs on the stand with styrene tube which I ran the power wires up. I had to mill the end slightly to get the tube to fit in the hole. Other than that, its standard. Just a nice fun build that didn't take me 3 years to do! You could really go to town detailing this ship but I didn't want to. I added just enough to make it interesting. Well, that's it but again, thanks for looking It's back to the SD for me Si
-
no, it makes perfect sense and it's a really good suggestion - so thank you The only draw back I see to it is that it would put it in a frame of sorts and would only be at it's best orientation when viewed from the front. It would also restrict viewing of the right side of the ship. Maybe I should only have detailed one side and saved myself a heap of time and styrene On a side note, I have redesigned the plug and will try to make it this weekend but I want to finish the Cordoba first before fully committing myself again to the SD. I now have a super clear idea on how this is all going to work and now I just have to make it happen Thanks again Juergen for you enthusiasm on this project - it is motivation for me to get on with it! Si
-
hey Juergen Thanks for the helpful suggestion mate! I have tried bending a 1/4" brass tube with a pipe bender but the tube kept crinkling and I suspect that the degree in which I want to bend it maybe too much for it to tolerate. I chose brass for its rigidity but it also doesn't like sharp angles. DUe to size constraints, the curve which you're talking about would make it too large for the space I have allocated to it. They are some of the reasons why I have gone for the steel strips. The brackets I have for it have threads in them which means I can literally bolt it together which will more than adequately hold the weight of the model The ship itself is a total of 63cm long and I'd say roughly 25cm high (TBH, I haven't measured the height - it's just a ball park figure) Its already pretty hefty without all the fiber and electrical gear so once it's all done, I reckon it'll be around ~3-4 kgs (again just a guess - I really don't know but that's the figure I'm working with) So that's mainly why I'm concentrating my efforts into the strips. It's just stronger than a tube and even less likely to make the ship wobble when someone so much as looks at it. To make it look a little better, I guess I could sheath the entire stand with styrene sheet. I could even make it more interesting with some raised plates. However, not to get too far ahead of myself, I don't really want the stand to be an item of attention and it will be black, and any extra detail would be lost, making it a waste of time.
