  1. With all the mileage they seem to be getting out of this kit, it would be nice if Round 2 could finally correct the (LTD based) C-pillar and backlight to the more accurate "Galaxie" profile. However, I'm not holding my breath on this.lol!
  2. Looking at that '70 GTO stocker makes me wonder what happened to the AMT/Ertl '70 GTO that was released back in the mid '80's. It had a separate front clip and could be built stock. After over 30+ years, I think it's ripe for a reissue IMHO.
  3. No straight answers on Spotlight either. I commented that it may be a heavy restoration on the existing body tool, but then the so-called "experts" shot me down saying it's a brsad new "cloned" copy of the original. I suggested that if they can clone kits, why do the Nova wagon instead lf the '67 Galaxie fastback, AMT '65 Impala, '59 Chevy Brookwood wagon, '72 Gran Prix, etc. I brought up the Johan question as well by saying they should clone those too. After an initial 'that would too toxic to bring up again' response, I get crickets. If Okey owns the branding, then lets clone those kits too. Or, are we stepping too much on Johan collector's toes here? lol! It's surprising we can't get any clear answers. Why all the disinformation? Is the Nova Station wagon a completely new cloned body of the original or not?
  4. Why are we talking about Revell kits? I thought this thread was for Round 2 April releases? ?
  5. Are we sure the Nova wagon body was "scanned" from an original? I just received mine, but I don't have an original issue body to compare it to.
  6. Well, Round 2 could modify the chassis and include an "insert" for the engine compartment. They wouldn't have to touch the body tool if they did it that way.
  7. I like the smaller boxes. I hope they do more like that.
  8. Since they seem to be getting a lot of mileage out of the '70 Galaxie 4dr by reissuing it in multiple variations these days (007 and now a taxi), I wish they'd retool the C-pillar/backlight to a more correct shape than the old LTD based promo version. It would probably take '67 Impala 4dr conversion levels of money, but I think it would be a wise investment to finally have a more "correct" '70 Galaxie 4dr.
  9. You traded for a Beatle? Was it Paul or Ringo? (just kidding) lol!
  10. And don't forget the too straight fender curve (AMT).
  11. At least they didn't destroy the wheel wells for that version. I could never understand why they would ruin a body for a pro stock/racer version. Even when I was 10 years old, I could radius the wheel wells of a stock body.
  12. The original '70 annual/promo had the GTO front clip molded to the body. The '70 reissued in the mid '80's had it as a separate part. The '72 was reissued before and after this release of the '70. So, it has to be two different body tools unless they have an "insert" for the '72 style front bumper and lower front fender vents like Mark stated.
  13. The new tires look great! It might be the pic angle, but the grill/header panel looks a little too sunken in compared to the real car. However, I will have to see one built up for final judgement. The separate clear headlights I do like though. That's one thing about this kit l never liked, the slightly too small headlights.
  14. It would have allowed them to go back to a '73 in the future though. Molding the '71-'72 style header/grill panel to the body forever eliminates making a '73 out of it. Yeah, I know you can just cut it out and replace it as a skilled modeler, but I'm talking about from their perspective. With all of the trouble and expense they took to preserve the 2 door fastback '67 Impala tooling (and I'm guessing the split bumper Z28/RS, but I could be wrong on that one) when they converted it over to the Supernatural 4 dr sedan, this seems to be totally out of character for Round 2.
  15. I wonder whatever happened to the retooled MPC version (with separate front clip) that could be built stock from circa 1987? I don't think it was ever reissued IIRC.
  16. What concerns me is that it's molded to the body. It would have been better if it was separate IMHO.
  17. A Daytona version of the '69 Charger snap kit would be great. However, they would have to change the sugar scoop inset rear window to the flush style and that would forever ruin the Charger body. So, unless they can do it without ruining the stock Charger, it's probably a non starter.
  18. Another stupid tin box release? Ugh! I'd rather see them spend the "tin box" money on molding them in different colors. Perhaps molding the body in an authentic color that can be polished out or something.
  19. I like this kit as well and I'm glad to know it's being reissued again early next year. The version I have is molded in that gray/tan plastic so it'll be great to have one molded in that nice clean white plastic Round 2 is now using.
  20. There sure is some negativity being thrown around for curbside kits on here, but yet some will spend $300+ for a "curbside" '72 Chevy Impala promo with a warped roof. I don't know about you, but I'd like to see more curbside kits reissued/released. Most of them, even in "full detail" form , are basically curbside with their simpllfied '60's era engine compartments and basic bare bones engine details. Unless you're talking about a modern tool which of course may have more detail. However, Round 2 hasn't made a moden tool since the 6th gen Camaro, I believe.
  21. I wish they would include engine plates in more kits. Not everyone at every time wants to do a full bore engine detail just to get a build on the shelf. In fact, there are more than few modelers here and on other forums that just glue the hood shut because they want an easy low effort build every once in awhile. Including an optional engine plate would be a lot more desirable than just having a big gaping hole underneath the chassis. Or, having to scratchbuild a fake engine plate using pieces of the lower half of the engine and oil pan to Frankenstein something up. Providing an engine plate, which would be next to nothing to tool up, would make things so much easier. They use to do that in many kits of the '60's.
  22. I know, that's why I stated it's "basically" a snap kit. Not quite, kinda, sorta, but close to one.
  23. Didn't Brookfield suffer a fire as well (back in the day) that actually destroyed the tooling to many of the promotional models they were doing in the '90's?
