  1. Thanks , Mitch. An Accurate miniatures kit would have been awesome but they have been out of production for a while and to get one it would be second hand and if you could find one it would cost a ton of money and might be missing parts when you got it. So I'll just keep on with this deal.
  2. Had to make some headlight covers. Had some styrene strips that were just the right width. Had to fill in some holes and voids in the rear panel and also make some extra holes. used styrene to do most of the filling. Just a few small voids will be filled with putty. Needed to open up the front fender behind the tire, like the real car had it done. Also, there are some voids in the b pillar that had to be filled.
  3. Excellent job, Tony. looks like you cured all the ills of this kit.
  4. Great job. I had no idea he and Dale Jr. were such close friends.
  5. Bill, I'm giving out small clues as I go along as to what I'm building. Eventually it will become clear what it is. One of my holy grails I've always wanted to do. Biil I checked out that website and the halibrands I would need were sold out. Also they are 1/24 scale so they would look way too big on this 1/25 scale model.

  7. I had to put gold stripes on the tires so I knew I couldnt mask them or make decals to do this task so I came up with this deal. i use it as a mask of sorts and use a toothpick to apply the gold acryl paint. they dont make a gold sharpie tiny enough to work that I have found. I know the stripes are too thick but im going to touch them up and narrow them with a #11 exacto blade I modified the wheels to make them look more like halibrands. not that great but I think the metallizer will make them look a lot better This car had a trunk even though real corvettes did not so I created one with #11 blade and scriber. The front of this car is a lot different then a stock corvette. It did not have retractible headlights but they did put removal covers on them when not racing in the dark. Here are the tires . i know they are not right but its the best I could come up with. If any body knows where I can get a very very fine point gold sharpie, let me know.
  8. Thanks Josh. the kit is a 63 but im trying to change it into a 64. but I'm not real sure if the car I'm referencing for the build is a 63 or a 64. The one I'm building has a 64 rear glass which I have changed already, but I have seen write ups on the real car I am building and it is referred to as a 63 in some of the articles. Maybe late 63's had the 64 back glass. Your build will give me help on mine so I am watching it very carefully. I already learned something about the carbs which I think both of our cars shared.
  9. Wow, you have some intricate modeling going on here. Excellent work.
  10. Here is the kit Need to change these wheels to a reasonable facsimile of Halibrand wheels. Need to change this hood .
  11. Beautiful build, J.J. That blue looks perfect. Very clean execution of all aspects of the build. Paint , details , decalling, assembly and stance.
  12. Wow, my head would explode if I had that many going at one time. Looks like all are coming along beautifully. On the Petty car, I did not know that powerslide came with white underlays?
  13. Excellent job on a very important car in Nascar history. The King's last ride.
  14. Thamks, Barry.
  15. Looks good. Is the Hasegawa kit 1/24 scale?
  16. Here is the model I did of Don's car back in 2018.
  17. Thanks again, John. But I'm afraid that one might be hard to get done. I bet nobody ever even did a resin of that one.
  18. Check out the wip below in the drag racing wip forum. Its the monogram 64 GTO kit. 1964 Pontiac GTO NHRA B stock competitor - WIP: Drag Racing Models - Model Cars Magazine Forum
  19. Larry, I have no idea where the tires came from. They were in my spare parts box. The wheels as well.
  20. finally finished. More pictures in Drag Racing Models forum. Link below. 1964 Roy Gay B stock Pontiac GTO - Drag Racing - Model Cars Magazine Forum
  21. Just finished this one. Roy and Don Gay were teenage brothers who ran at the local drag strip in Dickinson Texas back in the sixtys. Their father owned Gay Pontiac also located in Dickinson Texas. Dickinson is located in south east Texas, just about half way from Houston to Galveston on what was then called the Gulf Freeway. Its now more known as 45 North or South. In the summer of 64, Roy drove a 64 B stock GTO and Don drove a 62 A stock Catalina 2 door sedan . They always seemed to end up racing each other at the end of the afternoon or evening for the stock eliminator trophy. I built Don's Catalina back in 2018 and now I finally got around to building Roy's GTO. I only had one small black and white picture of Roy's car for reference so I had to guess on a lot of stuff. I really enjoyed watching them race back in the summer of 1964.
  22. Beautiful build. So when did you build this? Its held up very well. Paint and decals look very fresh.
  23. Model looks much better with gold wheels. I messed up the bmf on the left rain gutter so I will need to fix that and then future and I will be through. Pretty happy with the results even though there are a few issues here and there that bug me like every build I do.
  24. Up to your usual fine standards , Dustin. Another Awesome build for your collection.
