Yeah.... I don't do factory stock well.

I agree with the lighter color. That's why I was thinking that old vintage beige metallic Chrysler had in the early 60's with #1, or a gray/ silver for #3. As for #2 the contrasting lighter color is a better choice than black, which indeed would hide all those ungodly curves. My week has me busy, plenty of time to think about it...... Thanks for the input gang!

OMG..... that steering wheel is beautiful! As a matter of fact, the entire build is turning out beautiful. I started out working for Porsche/Audi and have fond memories of wrenching on these cars, Thanks for the trip back in time!

Thanks for posting your pictures. There were soooo many nice builds.

Do you know the dogs owner? Hope you recover fully.... I hate hearing people getting bit by dogs. As a lifetime pet owner I know there's some responsibility on the owners end. Get well, the models will still be there. -
I just finished a Titanium Woody that's a shade lighter with chromed Halibrands. Too close in my opinion. I am thinking the old Sand Beige with wheel choice #1. Or maybe a light Ice Blue with #2 or #3.....

Thanks everyone for the compliments. I enjoyed participating after all these years saying "Next year I'll bring something ....." The Hi-Tech Rat Roc style went over well. I have a few finishing touches to add yet, so next show it'll be finished-finished. Now we move on to my new WIP over in the On The Workbench section

All three wheel choices were purchased from board member Steve Zimmerman. They appear to be modified Revell 32 Ford Torque Thrusts in picture #1. Now that i think about it, I DO have a 12 cylinder DOHC Hemi I spliced together .... Hmmmm.

I should also mention this method applies to old vintage builds assembled with 1960's tube glue. You mentioned super glue, which can be de-bonded depending on material sometimes. Google for specifics, but in this instance mine was probs ly built when it was a new kit and boxed up all these years. Score!!!!!

I apologize for the freezer statement without explaining. I took it for granted it was common knowledge that if you take an old built up model, place it in a zip-lock freezer bag, and freeze it the glue loosens up. All I had go do was gently twist the tail lights and they popped right off. Sometimes pieces just fall off, hence the zip-lock bag. Same goes for the bumpers. A finger nail under the edge and they slid right off. I was very lucky the glass was glued in lightly too. Freezing the model helps loosen the bond. In my case, the original builder didn't scrape the chrome. No bonding to the plastic at all. I have an almost mint un-built vintage kit for the price of a re-issue. And I have no conscience what so ever about modifying it

#1 are a traditional size, the others are 19" & 22"'s which definitely takes it to another level. With wheel choice #1 I see carbs, the other two injection/turbo's. But that's just the way I'm wired I guess. This car is soooo f'ugly it's amusing

Finished the second build Friday night, bought the next build Saturday morning..... NNL East blessed me with a MINT, un-painted built-up Revell`62 Dodge Lancer that quite literally fell apart after spending about 6 hours in the freezer. We have a new project....and it's a Mopar! Deciding the rolling stock & color. Choice #1 considered with a metallic Sand/Beige finish Choice #2 might be Black on Black.... Choice #3 can be a Gray/Steel color Powertrain will be a Gen3 Hemi and the ride height will be very low. Discuss amongst yourselves and kick back some ideas.

I think I can find a donation too. Let us know. So sorry to hear Brian. If I may ask, how did your Duster do? Please don't tell us something bad to add to the list..... -
People had very nice things to say about it. The Hi-Tech Rat Rod style went over well. Unfortunately the people choosing cars for photos had a hard enough time with all the beautiful builds and weren't interested in my tin can And the next time I hear someone say they can't paint, I definitely didn't see your car today. Almost every paint job was killer .....

I always search out the odd-ball stuff. This is a nice clean survivor of an undeniably ugly car. It's in the freezer as I type getting ready for dis-assembly. I might swap a few parts from a Magnum Wagon in to update this crate. I'm also using a set of Steve's beautiful shoes. I got to him after he was picked over and what I found left on the rack were beautiful. I might have my Wife contact him through FB to see what I missed!

Well, another NNL East has come & gone. Our friend Tom Geiger & the Tri State guys pulled off another great show. Weather was a little chilly waiting to get in, but it wasn't raining. In the Contests & Shows section I posted pictures from the display room. Beautiful stuff! Plenty of vendors to take your money too. Aside from purchasing the usual supplies (tape, paint, build materials, etc) I found some really nice wheels and a cute future project. The Dodge Lancer is an un-painted original `62 Revell kit that's going to be a shockingly hideous build in the near future. Only $30! I also found some scale guitars I couldn't resist. I'll modify one into a copy of my Fender Precision Bass. Now, these really got my attention. Steve Zimmerman sells these through his Facebook page. I don't do FB so what ever it takes to find him is time worth spent. These are SHARP!!!! I think I see a set of those wheels on that Lancer....
